After my latest performance video (link below), I thought to give you a rundown of my Dub Mixing setup, adding few more effects to check together how they sound.
My Playdifferently Model1 has always two channels devoted to a dub delay and a reverb, I really rely on those two effects for my music.
After the Hardware demo, I will show you how you can create a similar approach in Ableton Live with just a controller.

Nice! Not enough electronic producers are talking about dubmixing or even using it. But each to their own of course :)
Thanks! Will add more content to this series
More spectacular content! You are killing it on YT!
Thanks Ron :)
Awesome vid, lots of clarity. Thx!
thanks!
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
thank you so much for sharing your experiences !!!!
My pleasure!!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your process with us ✌️
This is awesome. I haven't really explored creative mixing or using mixing like an instrument or a music creation tool. It's definitely something I want to check out.
It's annoying because it's making me look at performance mixers and I am also trying hard to avoid new gear in an effort to be more productive. More writing less exploring.
Also just wanted to say im loving your content.
My pleasure!
thanks!
I understand that. Is hard not to get distracted by stuff.
Thanks a lot for sharing this !
Glad you liked it!
Awesome!
this looks fun!
i hope so :)
this was great! thx for sharing!

Nice run down on the hardware, Wonderful mix Thank you!....now if only a Model1 would fall off the back of a truck (gently of course in its protective box)
:)
beautiful video and very good music I like ✨😉✨✨
Thank you very much
12:40 the dry part has it's very own charm 👍
thanks!
Thanks
you are welcome!
This was a great video on dub! Really loved this. The one thing I’m having troubles with on my setup is how you are routing all your fx. Maybe it’s a very simple thing but I can’t seem to wrap my head around how all your fx are routes like how you are running all your audio. Can someone explain this maybe somehow. If someone has some time or reads this. These videos are top notch. You are an awesome person :)
Hey Jason, i have few other video on routing and connections, check them out!
Yeah!
:)
Thanks so much, really love your way of sharing about gear and your process. Have you tried the Benidub Spring Amp 2? I'm considering getting one to have a natural spring reverb... being you are a Benidub fan thought you may have insight on that one.
Used to have it: is a great spring reverb tool. I might get it again
loving your content. wondering: if you have both a reverb and a delay on a send/return, how does the FX chain go? first the delay, then the reverb (as is usual), or is it more parallel?
i usually have them on two separate channels, when i have in series i always have the delay before the reverb!
I'm pretty new into mixing and deyaing and I wonder how it works to create such unique mixes, you play the songs through your daw, then you loop the parts and edit it through your filters and all, or how exactly does it work?
I heard so many live mixes and I only recognized they play the tracks but while the dj is mixing he's extending the duration of most parts of the songs so it feels like they have every loop, instruments and sounds separate so they can drop it one by one on a button press or so.
For example you take the song healing dub by rakoon and after two minutes or so there is a little break. After that the beat drops fully with all instruments and stuff, but in a live mix the dj just dropped the guitar part of it and let it loop for a while until everyone was heated up so then he could drop the full that also feelt like even the beat was boosted somehow.
Did the dj archive that only through a setup like you showed or are there some loopmashienes and or MPCs involved where the dj can handle separate loops he prepared from songs he wanted to play?
I know you have those feedback loops through the special cable setup, but still it sounds like magic what sone djs can pull up live.
One good thing about Corona: I've been mad busy in the studio and got several new Steppers Dubs ready. Come check 'em.
true!
You can adjust the max value of the controllers fader to be 0db to make sure you don't go too hot in the channel.
I know you can do that, need to learn how :)
@@OoraMusic In Ableton Ctrl/Cmd M to open MIDI Mapping on the left, then change Max Value to 0dB :)
Nice. So how do you deal with effect boxes that are mono? Or all of these stereo?
I use a y cable mono to stereo, it works :)
Great video do you have to subscribe top tier or medium one too for the project? 👏
the project comes with the medium tier!
Would be great if you could label what's coming into the main mixer channels, maybe some masking tape and a pen?
Apart from that a great video. Almost.
Peace
How are you liking the s2400?
is very cool, but not super easy for me to figure it out yet.
What is that mixer you use in the beginning? Looks like a hybrid of dj mixer and regular mixer, ❤️🙏cheers
Playdifferently model 1
🖤❤💛💙Great content....enjoyed this.......if i was to ask is it possible for you to do a video showing each cable routing please....giving plenty of time to explain what you are doing and why.....some of us are novices, and although we all do it differently this will make for good viewing....much respect.....blessings🖤❤💛💙
When i have 30.000$ for this Equipment i will do the same :) Good Video.
Or just use a controller! is a lot of fun and same result :D
@@OoraMusic When using a controller is the same...why u spend so much money for analog gear?;) Now i just have a Moog Mother 32 but i save all my money and buy a Lyra 8 and maybe in 15 years i have the same Equipment like u :D

What’s the mixer?

You don’t show how it’s setup with the mixer it’s no use to anyone just showing off, stop claiming that this is instructional videos.
I claim whatever I want on my channel mate. Open yours , and claim I am a fraud.
