    Brilliant. I love what you say in the closing talk. ‘It speaks to me’ -so real. Cascadia has become my best friend and I’m still learning. Looking forward to the follow ups!

      I made the mistake of getting into modular too early. I think you really need to understand what you want before buying something like this. I guess the nice thing about cascadia is that it is at least a complete unit.

    Awesome breakdown of the Cascadia! This will definitely be the next step for me in the semi-modular world. I dig the sound a lot. Thanks for your thoughts on this. 🙏🏾

    I agree that this and other ‘complex’ modular devices are rather difficult to understand and learn. They reward experience exponentially. There is a frustration I have about the “know what you want to do first” perspective, however - many beginner queries are answered by “it depends on what you want to do” responses - accurate but a dead end; of course it’s up to all of us to learn and educate ourselves, and a great yet expensive way is to make an investment and get hands-on time. I love (and am terrified by) CASCADIA, but I am learning! Thanks for posting your perspective 👋

    Random question but I really like the background music at around 29:00, is that done with the Cascadia too? I wonder how good it is for those type of melodic ambient textures

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, that was made sending the cascadia to S4 and then slowed the tape down! With some processing any source can go in that direction I think!

    How important is a midi device for working with the Cascadia? By that, I mean how well does the Cascadia work without a midi unit, can you patch a normal eurorack sequencer into the Cascadia (also)?

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  13 дней назад

      it works flawlessly with modular stuff! you dont need any midi controller if you have already a eurorack setup!

    Man, I really would like to get into a module synth instrument. The options to work, with such an instrument, reminds me of painting in the studio, with all the different materials, colors, and ideas I could use without a preconceived 'idea' of what will be created. In addition, if the sound becomes too familiar for you, you could always buy different modules, just like i'll buy a specific color I typically don't paint with when i want change in my work. Despite all these great points, the one thing i just can't get past is the overall sound of Euro modules for the type of 'sound' i typically use in my work. Who knows, perhaps one day, and i'm always keeping an ear on the Eurorack world.

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  7 месяцев назад

      it is both a beautiful and daunting world. I spent too much money getting modules thinking they would change my life and then never really used them.I feel you need a good amount of discipline to make eurorack working for you, but of course it can be extremely rewarding!

    It seems like a wonderful machine. The question is how does it compare to a Behringer 2600 that is a fourth of the price... I understand it's a boutique instrument but competition is fierce. Very good demo anyway.

    It's pretty much like the ARP 2600 so the Behringer ARP or Korg ARP Mini would give similar results.

    • @intellijel
      @intellijel 7 месяцев назад +17

      The Arp2600 was certainly an inspiration, as was the Buchla Easel, System100m and CwejmanS1mkii. However, the Arp2600 is missing the following key features found on the Cascadia:
      - Wavefolder
      - Multimode Filter with totally different topology from the ARP filter
      - Secondary Diode Ladder filter
      - TZFM with FM index VCA
      - FX Send / Return Loop
      - Much more complex envelope generators with CV control
      - Synthetic noise sources
      - Output Distortion
      - Extensive MIDI implementation including MPE capability and dual mode
      Cascadia is also substantially more compact and will fit in a backpack.
