I always eventually get deeply moved, nearly to tears dropping down my face, whenever I watch AIDS documentaries.
I was a child of the 80s and remember all of this but vaguely. More knowledge and human stories began to reach my heart by the mid 90s.
Thank you for posting this. My 🌈 community and empathetic allies fought so hard but were hated so much....for no good reason.

The first time I knew someone who died from AIDS was in 1993, but tested positive years earlier.
I remember being afraid of touching stuff that he and his lover had touched. Looking back, that was so silly,
but it was the way it was. Our county was so small and only had 12 recorded cases of HIV/AIDS.

47:39 hearing him talk about how accepting his lovers family was, how they treat him like a son is beautiful. So many had their lovers ripped away from them, and families did not accept them. Alone in their grief, not allowed to grieve like we humans normally do, for the ‘crime’ of being gay. I’m so glad that some families were wonderful, empathetic and accepting.
