They were one of my favourite bands. They were so good live. Much love from Australia 💞

The lead singer, Bernard 'Doc' Neeson, was an Irish immigrant to Australia (So, your comparisons with Geldof and Bono are perhaps insightful). He studied film production and always gave theatrical stage performances. Rick Brewster was lead guitarist (on the left of screen) and his thing was to remain immobile while on stage. John Brewster played rhythm guitar and occasional harmonica, and was on the right of screen.
The Angels were Australia's top live act in '77 and '78. In '79, I would argue that my favourite Aussie band, Cold Chisel (Angels were 2nd favourite) took over. Incidentally, both bands originated in my hometown, the city of Adelaide, but they belong to all of Australia.

Always love the Angels, Doc was an amazing leading man, with expressive hands, eyebrows, eyes, etc. the Album Beyond Salvation came out 1990 when I was in year 12. Was one of the tapes we had on a school bus trip halfway across the country from Roma in Queensland down to Canberra. Also had Faith No More but that is another story. Anyway back to Beyond Salvation, great rock tracks like, ‘Let the Night Roll On’, Back Street Pick Up’, ‘Dogs are talking’, and ‘Rhythm Rude Girl’ to name a few.

Yo Michael. Interesting that you get the Bob Geldof vibe.. I can see that now.. I always felt a little Mick Jagger vibe with this song but idk why lol. Angels were a great band I saw them live a few times. A few other classic Aussie pub rock bands from the same era are The Whitlams and the Radiators. I think you’d like both.

Jagger came into my head too but I didn’t say it out loud. I have to say that first song I did has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it…..i liked it, but i didn’t like it that much at first but it’s grown on me….now I love it. I wanted to mention that in the video but I forgot. 🤦‍♂️ I do the best I can with what I’ve got, ya know? 😂 ✌️ ❤️
      Hope you’re healing.

The Angels international success was killed by their US labels being cannibalized by bigger labels in the 80's that didn't support them but they made in-roads into the US and are favoured by the likes of Guns & Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam to name a few. Great White covered a couple of their songs as well. The Angels acknowledged that they should have stayed with their Australian label, Alberts, as they later found out that Alberts had plans on the band to tour with AC/DC to break them internationally.
Check out any live song from the Angels 'Live at Narara' concert to see them at their best. This was a two concert where the Angels came on after INXS and before the last act, Men At Work and blew both of them away. This concert was then renamed the Angels concert after their stand out performance.

    Yo Mike
The brothers are John and Rick Brewster both on guitars.
The former I think was bass and Rick on lead. Bernard Doc Neeson from Belfast and was a great front man. He had an amazing voice and did some documentary narration later on.
    Rip the Doc.
Ps I have every vinyl the Angels produced.
    So much fun live.

Thought John was rhythm until he was replaced with Bob Spencer, Chris Bailey was bass until he left. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Angels_(Australian_band)

@@michaelgoyettemusicRick Brewster in the sunglasses on Lead Guitar, John Brewster on rhythm Guitar usually wears a hat. Those 2 and Doc started the band. Originally they were in a band called the "moonshine jug and string band" then they went into "The keystone Angels" and finally "The Angels"
In the beginning John sang and played rhythm and Doc was on Bass Guitar.
Rick is the only member to never not be in The Angels.
Current line up is John and Rick, and then 2 more Brewster brothers Sam and Tom (John's sons) and former drummer Nick Norton on vocals.
