-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.c...
FINALLY hitting some Journey! We’ve waited a while to get around to it but it was time!! Where do we go next with them?! 🔥
Great song off a great album. Love this jam. This whole album kicks ass. Rock on guys. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Good one guys... can tell prolly rating this an a-
Maybe start with their earlier bangers. Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' ...... Lights .... Any Way You Want It
Journey had two great drummers, Aynsley Dunbar and Steve Smith, that they had to handcuff in order to play this kind of formula pop.
Definitely go back a album or so. EARLY has some great track's as stated above me.
☮️♥️♾️
Steve Perry never yells. He wails, and it hits you right in the feels. He has one of the greatest voices in rock. Keep on going with “Lights.”
Lights is epic. Infinity is all good for me.
I saw them back in 83/84. They didn't do Lights. Still holding that grudge.
Yes, please! Lights is the best song IMO.
Yassss! “Lights” has GOT to be your next from Journey!!!! Steve Perry never disappoints and “Lights” REALLY showcases his amazing voice. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
You need to listen to Mother, Father Steve Perry is the best rock vocalist period
Lights. If you're feeling homesick and listen to Lights, you'll cry. When I was away in the military, this song choked me up every time I heard it. It is an amazing song.
I was in the military in Canada and it made me feel the same way.
When I was 13, I went on a trip to Washington DC with a bunch of other kids in my class. Our bus driver wanted us to sing a song that was about where we were from, and we sang "Lights".
Lights that transitions into Stay Awhile is the bomb!!
I've got my volume in my earphones all the way up enjoying your reactions to my favorite songs, remembering back to the first time I heard them. Thank you for doing them justice!
Lights is my favorite Journey song, hands down.
My British husband played keyboards for Lennie Kravitz and The Outfield on tours and when the Outfield opened for Journey on their USA tour in the 80s, Reg said that there was no purer sound than listening to Steve Perry warming up in an empty auditorium! He was in awe. Perry is still my favorite voice in rock.
That must’ve been incredible.
Yes, his voice gives me all the feels!! Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'
Loved The Outfield. Mystery Man is my favorite by them
I saw that tour! McNichols Arena in Denver, 7th row. Phenomenal. Great little story...and I don't doubt it for a second!
Hear tell that Josie's still on a vacation far away.
STONE IN LOVE... that's the only one you need to hear to cement that these guys could ALSO rock. Yes they liked to make the kids cry, but they could also rock. And Stone in Love is pure juice!!!
My fave from them
“Feeling That Way/Anytime” best of old Journey. Full stop.
“Stone in Love” Neal Schon guitar solo is killer. Bass line drives the tune.
not a journey fan but i do enjoy stone in love
“Feeling That Way/Anytime” is my favorite Journey moment
Ditto! “Feeling That Way/Anytime” 2 songs but DO NOT SEPERATE THEM!!!!!!! Even the radio stations wouldn't dare break them up.
I totally agree. "Feeling that way/Anytime" is my favorite early track. And when I bought Escape, I wore the grooves out on "Stone in love" from constant replays. It's a total banger for sure.
Gregg Rolie is such an underrated singer and keyboardist.
Guys its not yelling. Its called pure talent.
Who’s Crying Now has one of the best guitar solos of all time
Yeah I am waiting for them to listen to that one
My favorite by them! Don't Stop Believing is a great song just way over played!
Live in Houston! or Mother, Father-Live in Houston!
@@marilynk30 most downloaded song in music history also it is said to be playing 24 hours a Day worldwide on stations so it’s actually continually being heard world wide 24 hours a day
Stone in Love is also a must! 🔥🔥🔥
There’s a reason that these guys filled stadiums night after night after night .... the talent is off the chain! I’m throwing my vote in for ‘Stone In Love’ as well if you react to them again! 🎸
"Feeling That Way" & "Anytime" When Journey had two singers. Steve had just joined the band and they did an album with the old singer and the new. Their two vocal styles complimented each other amazingly. I wish their old singer had stuck around. It really is magic.
Gregg Rolie. You should give a listen to pre-perry like Mystery Mountain. Excellent song or Topaz with no singer. Mesmerizing.
@@rustytime Yeah. I wish he hung around. I don't think they pushed him out. He just looked at Steve Perry and thought... well... he's the lead singer now, obviously.
@@thanksfernuthin That was it. I really did like their voices blended/sharing leads together better than just Perry's though but...
I would be curious to hear A&A’s take on the Rolie/Perry combo. I think doing Feeling That Way/ Anytime combo unbroken would be a great reaction.
@@DaverJ Right. It's a unique little time in rock & roll. Very special.
Not Steve yelling, but Steve hitting some amazing high notes.
Stone In Love is a must. Neil Schonn at his bad-ass best!
Definitely!
I just listen to it again and I forgot how great it was!!
A great rocker!!!
It's one of those fade solos that has you turning up the volume to catch all the great shit he's doing.
Ross Valory's Bass!
Even people who say they hate Journey, alone in their cars, are singing it at the top of their lungs. And of course Neil Schon!
"Feelin That Way", and "Anytime" will give you both all the goodness Journey has to offer, and some grittier guitar work
Yes! This👍
Yup
"I'm standing here with my arms a mile wide
I'm hoping and praying for you
Listen to me and enlighten me
I hope that you need me too..."
And they must be played together!
Never play separately!!!!
Never apologize for loving Dont Stop Believing. Its an amazing song no matter how overplayed its been. I hope you guys continue to explore Journey. Its painful to know you guys have barely been introduced to Steve Perry and his incredible voice.
When you buy an album 4 times from losing it, breaking it, being stolen and borrowed and never returned, you know it is a great album...😏😏😏
#GREATESTHITS
@ Andrew Gonzalez That happened to me with "Physical Graffiti" First time was a vinyl album I left in my car, and it melted. Second time, it was a double CD, and I lost one of them. Third time I stepped on it and broke it into pieces. 4th time it disappeared out of my CD holder case, so I assumed it was stolen. Great album, so I had to buy a 5th one. Still have this one.🤞
@@taylortyler1867 Lol wow...😮😮😮
I know what you mean. I wore out quite a few copies of the J. Geils Band, Blow Your Face Out, on cassette. Not by skipping around. Just kept playing both sides alot.
Vinyl in 1978, Cassette when I learned to drive, CD upon release, remastered CD upon release.
Remastered edition 180 gr. vinyl edition.
Given this album as a gift to friends and lived ones more than any others.
INFINITY is a game changer album of my life.
Desert Island album.
Lol gotten 2 or 3 myself
STONE IN LOVE. Best Summer Song of all time
'Feeling That Way/Anytime' should be the next Journey selection
Absolutely.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely - they were at their best when both Gregg Rollie and Steve Perry were in the band.
Journey effectively ended for me when Rollie left.
can't hit a better two songs!
“Anyway you want it” is a great track that really shows off Steve Perry’s voice, with all his high notes and awesome vibrato style. Also look into their live albums. Great versions of their early and best music.
"I'll Be Alright (without you)", "Stone in Love" and "Who's Crying Now" all have the killer guitar solos you wanted in this one.
Love all 3 of these 💜
Higher, Higher
Walks like a lady
Dixie Highway
Mother, Father.
Absolutely
No he was not yelling. That's the voice of an angel
And Neil Schon is suuuuuch an underrated guitar player
He had his choice of playing with Carlos Santana or Eric Clapton.
True
@@armadillotoe Did play for Santana.
Not only underrated but under used. He never had a chance to show what he really could do in journey.
Killer solos on Santana III
Steve Perry once said that he never felt like he was part of Journey - Hell man You are Journey!
Good to be up first. This one goes way back like "Feeling that way too / Anytime You Want Me ."
Totally agree with this suggestion. This is the old Journey the boys need to hear.
Good one too!
Love that one
They'll like that double-A side more than this tune, I'm sure.
Best best best
This is the best era of Journey, when Greg Rolie handed the lead vocals over to Steve Perry but was still with the group.
Saying the best era of journey is like saying the greatest part of having herpes
Feeling that way/anytime those will be great to listen to.
Neal Schon and Greg Rolie were in Santana before they were in Journey. Schon is one of the best rock guitarists in history.
I did not know that!
The interesting thing about Steve Perry's vocal range is that he can hit very high notes without going falsetto (head voice) - - he's still singing from the chest voice.
Jimi Jamison can do the Same!
NO WAY!
Most beautiful voice! You're so right he's great.
Three octave range.
Steve Perry has an incredibly mastery of mixed voice singing that is second to nobody's. He rarely has to go into falsetto. If you want to have your mind boggled, listen to the live version of "Mother Father" from the 1981 concert in Houston.
Who's crying now and girl can't help it great songs open arms or faithfully for ballads and separate ways for the banger they have everything
Yes!!!! He is singing at the high part, and holding that note! He is AMAZING!!!!
Steve Perry's voice soaring above that guitar solo. Damn. Chills. Steve will always be the voice of Journey, no matter how many karaoke singers they find, to try to replace him... he's irreplaceable, end of story.
Stone In Love. Good riff, good hook, good guitar solo.
Never a big Journey fan, but I always liked "Lights" and the "Feeling That Way/Anytime" combo. (They were meant to be listened together.)
Don't Stop Believin' isn't my favorite Journey tune by any stretch but it's hard to knock a big hit from almost 40 years ago that became a huge hit again decades later. That's not "cheese" -- that's inarguably a classic, no matter what your taste is.
It's also the most downloaded song of the entire 20th century!
It may not be musically superior, but it's an anthem. An 80s anthem.
I think it’s just always been popular. I can’t think of a time when that song has come on in a lively bar and it doesn’t get at least half the bar singing.
The criticism leveled at Don't Stop Believin' is better aimed at Livin' On A Prayer.
Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' is my fave early Journey. Speaking of karaoke performances...
My 11 yr old son approaches as I'm listening to this. (both earbuds in, singing away). "You sound like a dying cat." he says.
That was a nice surprise for a Monday. I drank the koolaid ( ha ha). Love Journey. Steve Perry has a great voice. "Lovin', touchin', squeezin'" and "Lights".Thanks A&A.
Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', is the song that got me hooked on Journey, but I think two of the most unique hits Journey cranked out were "Just The Same Way" and "Feeling That Way", where Gregg Rolie & Steve Perry shared lead vocal duties.
I saw Journey in the 80’s with Steve Perry! They were fantastic!
same, agreed one of the best concerts I went to.
Same
Same, one of the best!
I saw them with Montrose.
Yep!
Every song on Infinity is a classic.
Don't you dare break up "Feeling That Way/Anytime." Seriously.
That's sacrilege. As is splitting Moving In Stereo/All Mixed Up.
Steve Perry joined Journey on their 3rd album. INFINITY. Their best and one of the best rock albums. Some incredible power ballads.
No, they absolutely MUST be played together.
@LadyLiberty absolutely!
It would be like splitting up "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions"
STONE IN LOVE!!!!! It’s what you’re looking for
"mother father" live from Houston 81... Please look at Steve vocals live.. He is touching sky like an angel there😇😁 and Neal guitar solo.. Also in "stone in love" guitar is burning. Maaan this are the masterpieces of life performances, like Phil Collins "in the air tonight" live in Paris, first farewell tour - mind blowing!!!
This times 100!!!
Journey is one of the few bands that sound EVEN BETTER live imho! There's an energy, a finesse and just a larger than life quality to Steve's vocals and Neil's guitar when they're live that somehow don't quite pick up in the recordings. So yeah Andy & Alex, def recommend doing some live tracks if you can. Pretty much anything at Houston 81 is fantastic! Everyone brings up Mother Father, and it def deserves to be. But glad to see the commenter here bring up Stone in Love -- that song is an underrated classic, and that performance is phenomenal.
70s JOURNEY WAS THE BOMB ,, This WAS RELEASED IN JAN OF 1978 ,,
Wow, way back to the early Journey stuff. It is hard to describe how HUGE this band was in the 70's and 80's. One of the great voices in R&R history.
Are you 2 saying, you haven't heard/reacted to, "Separate Ways"?! Heck, react to Side A of Frontiers (1983), and you'll be blown away. And, yes: Steve Perry was hitting those HIGH NOTES. He's known for that...even in his 60s, on his latest solo album, Traces.
“Lights” is a great Bay Area anthem. Brings back great memories.
I grew up in the Bay area, when the song was really popular. Now that I don't live there anymore and I hear it, it makes my heart hurt a little bit.
I’ve always loved Journey. Escape was the first record I ever bought with my own money... Steve’s voice on ‘Mother, Father’ and ‘Still They Ride’ is absolutely incredible... ‘Open Arms’ is one of the truly great ballads... Legendary voice.
Neil Schon is a pretty great guitarist, even if he is a prick of a person...
Steve Smith is a spectacular drummer, and a very nice person.
Steve Smith is indeed a nice guy. I used to work at a private school where his son lived at the time. Of course I didn't realize at first who he was because he was bald. This was the late '90s and times had changed. His son too was a nice kid
Wat did Schon do? Lol
"Wheel" was pre-Steve Smith, FYI. Aynsley Dunbar on drums.
@@michaelpolutta3131 Good info. I knew Ainsley Dunbar played for them at one time, didn't specifically know about this song. Should have guessed though, I particularly like the drumming on this track.
@@jaybee3055 he’s well known for his arrogance as a rock star.
'Stone In Love' and 'Feeling That Way/Anytime'
You know you have a great lead singer when one of your backup singers is Greg Rolie who sang lead on Black Magic Woman with Santana.
Yeah Greg Rolie was a great singer with Santana. If Greg Rolie is your backup singer the lead singer has to be way better.
And Evil Ways, and Oye Como Va
Definitely stone in love !! Schoon absolutely a shredder on lead !! 😎
"Stone In Love" has the BEST guitar solo by Neil Schon ever...you gotta hit it!!
I just listen to it again and I forgot how great it was!!
Thank you, yes!!! And it’s a total surprise in that song
Stone in love, and any way you want it. Both great guitar solos.
Epic song is feeling that way/ anytime back to back like radio play
Journey is great. Steve Perry is awesome. I understand Don't Stop Believin may be a little over played. But everything with Steve Perry is Amazing.
Stone in Love, Open Arms, Lights, Faithfully, Separate Ways, Why's Crying Now. Still they Ride, Send Her My Love, Why can't This Night Go on Forever. And so many more. Give them a chance, you won't be sorry. There is no one like Steve Perry.
Everytime I see or hear Open Arms, I think of "misheard" lyrics...Broken Arms! 😅😉
❤️ SEPARATE WAYS ❤️
@@sgholt the first three Journey albums are my favorite - actually "Journey" and "Next" are my favorites, "Look Into The Future" is so-so for me. But the addition of Steve Perry made them megastars. From that perspective, Steve Perry made them great even though personally I don't really like those songs.
Kate, how about Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' Can't sit still when that is playing!
@@sgholt Steve Perry had a hip problem. He needed surgery or other treatment. The Band wanted to go out on tour, but he couldn't. Sadly, that is the main reason for the split. They left him behind. Later, he gave up music for a while. Now, He is back. Check out Traces.
STONE IN LOVE.....guaranteed!!!!
Please do ‘Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin’ next. You won’t regret it.
Seriously guys. This HAS to be your next Journey. Was as epic as Don’t Stop Believing at the time (as in WAY overplayed, but still is epic Journey). You can’t say you know Journey if you haven’t heard this song.
Especially the live performance video.
Yes, please. 💜💜💜
FACT..! 0 regret...
I you do, listen to it from the live "Captured" album
“Patiently” live 1978, “Still They Ride”, Stone In Love”, “Mother Father” live in Houston 1981, are some of my favorites.
Journey is a GREAT start to the week.
This is the best song EVER by Journey. EVER!
I think Steve Perry's voice is one of the finest, most iconic in rock history. And Journey's musicianship is outstanding. It elevates everything they've ever done, including the cheesy stuff, the overplayed stuff, and the filler in some of their albums. Good job breaking down some of the little details, as always!
On Nov. 3 1991 I along with 300,000 wonderful music fans attended "Laughter, Love & Music " Bill Grahams memorial service at Golden Gate park after he along with 2 others were tragically killed in a helicopter crash. I was a Dead Head and liked Journey on a sing along with the radio kind of level. Many Bay Area bands played...Jackson Browne, Tracy Chapman,Crosby,Stills, Nash & Young, the Dead, Credence Clearwater, Santana. Robin Williams hosted. Steve Perry stepped up to the mike and said..".I know you're not all Journey fans, but even if your not please, please sing along. Let's show how much this city loved Bill and the joy he brought to us" They then performed "City By the Bay" Perry's ethereal voice had me in tears. It was truly magical. A big airtanker flew over and dropped flowers on the crowd as they performed. I've been to hundreds of concerts over the years but this...especially the crowd singing.....lit lighters raised to the sky, along with Steve Perry was really one of the coolest moments EVEAAAAAHH. You should check out this song as well as "Don't Stop Believing"
“Feeling that way” is by far the best Journey song.
Can't play Feeling That Way without going straight into Anytime. I always feel cheated when I hear one of these songs by themselves!
@@nocakeforsusan8701 Yes A & A do not break them up if you play either!
Right around the 4:28 mark Steve let's out a soaring long note in the background of the guitar solo.
It just adds so much emotion to the song.
Separate Ways and Stone In Love are the bangers you want to hear.
Next Up: Lights, Just the Same Way, (Feelin' That Way/Anytime), (Lovin' Touchin' Squeezen'/City of The angel). When played on the radio, they would often play these songs together.
no one mentions The incredible notes Steve Perry hits in the background during the guitar solo
The guys mentioned it in a major way...
Alex said he thought it detracted from the solo. I disagree, I think they pair well together.
Feeling That Way/Anytime is a great classic song by Journey. Steve Perry shares vocals with Journey's original vocalist and the guitar solos are phenomenal.
Journey - Stone in Love!
YESSSSS! Next up PLEASE do "Feeling That Way/Anytime" back to back! SOO GOOOOD
Journey was a unique Opera Rock bands which did a wide diversity of music from hard driving rock, opera rock, rock ballads, and they need a deep listen into their songbook to hear just what the incredible talent of Steve Perry and the rest of Journey were able to do. I am happy to hear the appreciation to their mix diversity. There are many more gems left to hear......rock on....
Lights is their best song, then feeling that way too, loving touching, squeezing.
Omg. Steve Perry's voice. Simply breathtaking.
"Feeling That Way" S
"Lights" and "Stone In Love" A+
"Open Arms" Makes me want to hurl.
You nailed it, Fred!
"Feeling that Way / Anytime" Is their best work IMO and a bit underrated. Gotta hear them both togther as a single piece with no pause between them, as per the record. Perry's greatest asset with his voice is the emotive and vulnerable quality he conveys.
"Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’" is another great one by them.
Feeling That Way is gorgeous vocals.
Yes, except La Do Da, Winds of March, Anytime seem more dynamic than lights, or maybe I've just heard Lights many times and it's not as exciting at this point for me.
When I hear Feeling That Way I can still taste the Columbian Gold.
✌️😎
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND hitting Dixie Highway off the Captured, live album. The song was only recorded live, but it is 7 minutes of heaven! Amazing musicianship, some really good transitions, and Steve Perry's amazing voice. Neal Schon has, imo, his best guitar solo on this song!
Journey is the tale of two, well now three, bands. Early on before Steve Perry joined, they were a California jam band. It's understandable seeing as Greg Rolle and Neal Schon formed the band after playing with Santana for years. Once Steve joined and contributed to writing songs the band noticed that more women were showing up at gigs, instead of a bunch of sweating guys. As for early Journey here goes - Lights, Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', Anyway You Want It, Feeling That Way/Anytime to start. When Greg left and Jonathan Cain, of the Babys, joined the stuff got a bit more commercial due to it being the height of MTV. And YES Steve perry is the voice, I've had the pleasure of seeing three of the greatest rock vocalists live in my life Steve Perry, Ann Wilson and Freddie Mercury.
Steve Perry - the greatest male voice in rock.
Absolutely! 🎼🎤👑
Freddie Mercury would like a word....🤨
Hands down. Steve was The Voice.
@@mrwoot08 Freddie Mercury is always in the discussion of greatest vocalists. Mercury and Perry are definitely the top two.
I was listening to Journey long before Perry joined the band. Journey used to be a great fusion rock band. Neil S and Greg R were in Santana before they formed Journey. Steve Perry is NOT a rock singer....he is a teeny bopper crony. Sammy Hagar Paul Rogers Freddie Mercury to name a few that are miles above Perry as far as rock singers. I was 19 when Journey Next came out. Then the band sold out just like REO and went to teeny bopper top 40 music. Our band was heavy metal and had no need for sell outs.
"Stone In Love" and The Party's Over", and"Lights". are my favorite Journey songs.
got to do Lights and Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin which is my personal Fave
Steve Perry is so unique in his upper range, that it is tough to cover Journey songs. You start playing a Journey song, and do a reasonable job with the instrumental - but then your cover band singer comes in, and you realize you are never going to try and play the song in front of anyone. Due respect to the cover band singers, but if you find a singer that can due justice to a Steve Perry vocal, that's a different level of singer.
That's why Ariel Pineda has been their Singer for so long.
Don't stop believin is one the greatest rock songs ever. It has totally been poundung into everyone's head perhaps more than any song should be. It's hard not to be absolutely numb to it, it's been so overplayed. But it's a song that will never go away. Lovin touchin squeezing, Lights, stone in love... those would be the next ones to listen to.
Stone in Love. Lovin Touchin Squeezin
Oh, yes. And, La Do Da
Steve Perry singing For tomorrow is one my favorite moments in rock.

That wasn't yelling that was our friend Steve Perry rivaling Freddie Mercury in range, and emotion
Steve Perry was a better vocalist than Freddie ever was.
@@paul-Ess Woa-ho-hoa! Hold on there! Both of them kick ass!
That's nonsense.. They both had a 4 octave range, but distinctively different techniques and skill sets..
Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' by Journey!
Steve Perry's voice is simply amazing. Just like Freddie Mercury, his range is breath-taking. So many songs showcase his gift - Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', Who's Crying Now, Open Arms. And Andy, you don't need to apologize for the thematic appreciation of Don't Stop Believing! It's a show choir staple!
Perry better.
Laughable. Perry in platform shoes would not have the stature to kiss Freddie Mercury's ass.
@@michaeldedalus1039 Could Freddie Mercury sing Mother, Father? With control precision without sounding pitchy. Could Freddie perform the songs live without altering the notes? Perry in 1981 sang better live than on the album.
rock masterpiece...vocals and musicianship...unreal!!!!
Steve Perry a true male soprano
Yes he was getting that high in range during the middle of the song!
Now it's time for "Stone in Love"
Bob Jovi used to call Steve Perry ‘The Voice’. Very highly esteemed in rock circles.
Stone in Love is a great song from them.
This album was so good I use to play it at 10 on my parents stereo!
Send Her My LOVE. Phenomenal guitar solo. My favorite Journey song.
Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.
Andy, Don't Stop Believing...is an amazing 💙 song so don't you ever stop believing that. Wheel in the Sky is also great and every song they did was special. Special people, special times.

This was Journey’s first single (radio) with Steve Perry. #1 Journey fan and can go forever without hearing Don’t Stop!
I was always a Journey fan in Jr. High, all the chics were. I remember distinctly the concert, when I decided Journey had gotten cheesy. 1978, Summit, Houston, Tx. AC/DC opened up for them and literally blew our minds!!!! Bon Scott carrying Angus Young on his shoulders, down through the crowd. Wow!!! ✌️🎸💥
