Memories of getting to the end of the vents and looking at the warm glow of the Shard contrasted with the harsh blue of the night. And then raging over those fucking snipers.
@@PARIZEN I recently played this game again on my Xbox One S (I originally played it on PS3 over like 9 years ago), and I barely had trouble with that part, it must've been a forgotten part of my psyche remembering exactly how to get past that XDD
gotta say, the last mission was actually the best in the game! cool fighting areas where you could make use of your runner skills, nice lil' jumping puzzles, awesome music. can't wish for more as a gamer.
You guys have the link to this song but remixed with still alive? The one they used in stage 2 of mirror's edge 2d. Trust me, it's as good as this one.
(Spoilers) This song plays at the start of the final mission in the game, The Shard. As you start out, you're in a maintenance area near an entrance of the building. This song and the area you start in during this level come together to make art. Every other mission start has you in a much bigger area, high up, overlooking the city. Here you start out surrounded by walls and pipes. Here, Merc has just died. Usually you hear him directing you at the start, but there's no voice over your comm. There's a sense of almost peace, but more like determination. It's determination so strong that it feels like peace, because nothing is stopping Faith from getting her sister back. This song captures that feeling perfectly. I absolutely love it.
RaveCat3000 I'm not talking about that! The lighting, the high-resolution textures (look at Faith's hands and other models), smooth animations, etc. That shit was hard to pull off in 2009 even with Unreal Engine.
RaveCat3000 Well, Battlefield 3 and Mirror's Edge use completely different engines. But yes, they _did_ need to make compromises. Less textures = less loading times, better performance, etc. I guess it also got the message across for where you're supposed to go.
I couldn't agree with u more but u also have the in uncharted ps3 series assassins creed 3 ratchet and clank tools of destruction tomb raider 1st and second reboot series cod 4 through bo2 and many more. Its seems that this ost is just one of the many amazing soundtracks, from the amount of amazing games from our older (console or pc gen) past.
This is my favourite music in the game. What drew me to it was the instrumentals alone but there's something about where you are storywise that adds so much. Merc is gone, Kate is taken , project icarus is underway and Faith is alone for the first time in the game. I really got the sense that I was alone and it was almost a bittersweet feeling because I felt quite sad but also I loved the music so much xD
Oh my gosh that is LITERALLY how I felt about it too! The way that the entire section goes mechanically, the way the silence falls on you as you realize the weight of Merc's death, I remember feeling overwhelmed but also determined to finish what faith started.

For whatever reason when those high notes kick in the background it evokes emotions powerful enough to make me want to break down into tears almost every time.
It's sad how you start this mission of alone because Merc dies. It sounds sad and comforting at the same time. You lost your friend (and essentially your dad), but you know that you will overcome the final trial and everything will be ok in the end.
i played this game years after it came out but this game is something special. The bright white colors mixed with that warm red aesthetic and its soundtrack just make this game feel so nostalgic and comforting. the gameplay too is so much fun to master. i'll never forget it.

I have purchased this game for every platform I own that its on. I just absolutely love it and its soundtrack and this is easily the best part of both the game and the soundtrack. I wish Catalyst had captured what this game was.
Just completed an impromptu run-through of this game again, after a few years away. So much nostalgia! But this track probably brought back the most. ❤️
Love this game, love the soundtracks, and love how the game make me feel nostalgia still now, when 12 years have passed.. It make u feel so free, so happy in an unbelievable way ❤️
I listen to this and I’m reminded of springtime in San Antonio, riding down the river, watching all the people and the colored umbrellas and the cafes slowly pass me by. Everything just feels right.
Mirror's edge Catalyst for me was a "generic sequel that everyone will hate and say original was better" and imo if catalyst was the first mirror's edge game, it would have blown up like the original. And honestly i kinda like catalyst but the reason im typing this here is because original had this AESTHETIC feeling by the soundtrack. Like it somehow explains you the feelings Faith has during the scene, call me a nerd but it really is: for example this one has a little sad suspension about loss of Merc or the scene where you climb up to the sniper rifle on the construction site in Kate chapter kinda shows you what heights can Faith reach just to protect her sister or the chase scene in the Flight chapter (actually any chasing scenes) gives the feels of adrenaline pumping. Solar Fields did a good job giving me unexplainable feels back in the 2008.
I couldn't finish Catalyst, It really didn't do it for me. Loved the open world and parkour though, even though it did lack the momentum and weight of the first.
I personally love catalyst but that may have just been because I got the game for my twelfth birthday back in 2016 and it's a nostalgia thing. I still come back to it and manage to love it every time though. I did buy the first game a couple months ago for my ps3 and definitely agree it is the better game in all aspects but I still can't help but love catalyst just as much
I really wish the puzzle section lasted a bit longer, so I could enjoy this longer while playing the game... --- And also, this playing when you get to the "WHERE IS NOVEMBER" writing part in the vents, hearing Faith talk about that, it really hits you there... Wonderful stuff this is...
My ultimate life goal is to build a city like that, full of white buildings with lots of glasses and mirrors, and colorful interiors. Then I will make a montage video as an introduction to my city, with this song playing in the background.
Honestly one of the best video games I've ever played. I didn't have high expectations for this game when I bought it, unlike others who played the demo and expected a lot more from the full game, thus clouding their opinion. This game brought forth a cascade of emotions that I had never experienced with a video game, and there's no way I can sum up everything I loved about this game in a measly 500 character limit.
Sometimes I think “A sequel to mirrors edge would be so good!” But then I remember that they did come out with a sequel, except it wasn’t even a sequel, and I beat the soulless thing. 😕 Wasted potential that will never be used again.

+smallgamer I'm such a fanboy... I love the new one.
sebool112 me too! i love the new game, i don't think they screwed it up. although i could think of some ideas to make it a better game. not saying it's not a great game though, I'm obsessed with it...
This is such a singular game! There is nothing else like It (from what I've seen.) This game has always intrigued me since I was a kid for it's creativity in style. First person parkour (survival?) Is done great in this game.
This track sends shivers down my spine.
This song makes me so cold, from all the chills and goosebumps it gives me.
