    I am getting my first seed tray started today. I discovered that apparently not all seed trays are the same. The plastic containers that sit down in the larger tray of what I bought are quite a bit smaller than the planting pellets I bought. I discarded the plastic containers and just used the larger tray and put the pellets in it. I guess we will see how well this works. Thanks for your video.

      Since he is a farmer, I'm guessing he has well water, not city water which is chlorine treated. I think he realised this halfway through his discussion lol. So for him, and any others in the country, well water should be fine if it's drinkable, but city dwellers would do best with distilled water.

    • @RealityChecks
      @RealityChecks 4 года назад +2

      @@rubylady7126 Not all city water uses chlorine. My local water is disinfected with chloramine which is safe for plants, seeds, and clones most of the time, or can easily be removed by boiling. I wrote a boring textbook of a comment with more information on the chemical and the process of purifying it elsewhere in this comment section because I don't think it's common knowledge that chloramine is used in many modern city water supplies. Not too long ago, the assumption that all public water supplies have chlorine would have been a safe bet. I just hope the information helps someone! Running out to buy distilled water isn't as easy of an alternative for me as I'm sure it isn't so easy for a lot of people who deal with transportation problems or disabilities such as myself (I'm not that old, but I have Gout and RA so getting around is very challenging for me). Aside from the chlorine issue, this is a fantastic video for help using these little peat pellets! I love Jiffy, myself.

    For better result on seed in packets. They to need be rehydrated Add a 1 table spoon Hydrogen peroxide to 1 cup of distilled water.Soak about 20 mins. You will have to fish out them. I plant 3 seed per pod. Add half & half 1 pt peroxide to 1pt warm distilled water and soak your pods .For a gallon just double it.

I'd love to start sowing seeds much earlier than before where I'd wait for the last frost to begin. I now have 4 big window boxes I have to fill with flowers and realized, once I got them that they are huge and will be extremely expensive to fill unless I learn to grow my own flowers. Any tips would be GREAT! Oh and do you just plant that whole pod in the ground and how do you know when to put it in the ground? Thanks for any and all advice!

    Can you do carrot seeds in jiffy peat pellets or in a medium size planter ?

    Thankyou for this! Who would of thought using these would be complicated lol.
    I have a really stupid question though - do you cover the seed up with a bit of soil once it's placed in the hole? Or do you leave it exposed in the hole?

      Push some of the "peat" you moved over to plant the seed back on top of the hole. 😊

    First time planter here. I have a question about adding more than one type of veggie plant in thr same greenhouse kit. Is that ok?

    Good video.
    We require half gallon hot water (100-110 degree) for 72 peat pellets. Is it correct?
    What type if water require?

    Here’s a tip if you guys can’t get distilled water just leave tap water in the sun for a couple of days and the chlorine evaporates out of the water

    LOL Your crazy, but very entertaining.. I am wanting to use mine to start my kale, spinach, and chives.. Our last frost is usually around May 9th, so I need to back up 8-10 wks from there.
