20:43 yeah I'm like 99.9% sure the reason the solver was acting up here was because Uzi was overheating from not consuming the oil needed to run the solver program. You know... the exact thing she proceeds to do in order to stop herself from dying, causing her to go into a frenzy? So, so many people misinterpret this plot point and I cannot understand why.
My head cannon on why she was able to block it later was that she developed a sort of antivirus after being a the host once, and the reason the solver was confused is that thats never happened before. Just a theory though. A GAME THEO-
Honestly, I agree with the chaotic great part that the show can be hard to understand at some points, and it could have its ups and downs but I think the best thing about it is it's enjoyable... and i really enjoyed it
The show wrote itself into a dead end. What makes ep8 even worse yet, is that it not just didn't resolve story loose ends, but also cut off any possibility to explore most of them
@Reinoiro to be fair it left itself with a pretty good back door to open the show up. i mean cyn is literally part of uzi now, so that could go many places
@@PixelCliffs5 nevermind i wrote a bunch of nonsense. What i mean is, almost all the ideas of season 1 were already closed off, so besides this one premise of Uzi being merged with Cyn an already mostly rounded character, there's nothing to build on and explore, especially when we're asking for a whole season worth of content. It will just have to be all new ideas pulled out of nowhere and that's theoretically possible for any piece of media, but doesn't necessarily make it a good decision Liam himself wanted it to end here. Honestly the fact that the drones don't seem very bothered by other drones dying makes sense to me. Humans made them to be slave labor and if they were programmed to develop strong bonds with each other that could very well lead to rebellion. If the drones don't care much about each other it means they can be used and discarded without fear of them banding together to protect each other. I think the same thing about their survival instincts, or rather, their lack of them. If they were developed with a heightened sense of preservation that allowed them to discern what is dangerous or threatening to them it would mean they'd be highly resistant to following through with dangerous tasks. If they're programmed with just very basic "don't stand in the lava" type of recognizing danger they can avoid drones dying to stupid mistakes but wouldn't make it as difficult to continue using them as expendable labor.
I love this show, so so much, episode 8 is actually my favorite episode. V was amazing in this episode and it rlly made her make sense. im glad you made this video, we need more vids like this.
54:41 The reason J was “wasted potential” or “done dirty” as people say, was if it wasn’t obvious before, V and J are working with Cyn, and if either one of them were to back out on her, they would be killed, cloned, and killed again. The only reason V redeemed herself is because she wasn’t the one who got fucking disintegrated by Uzi’s railgun in the Pilot, J was. Furthermore, J had to stick with the solver’s plans in order to survive, even though she knew that if she died she can just come back. Still, horrible fate for her and it’s an example of TRAGEDY (since she had the chance yet stuck with survival), not wasted potential, and Tragedy is often a really good element of a horror story, such as this masterpiece of a show.
Awesome video, man!👍 Murder Drones changed my life back in December 2022, and it was awesome! I had fond memories with Murder Drones throughout my years (especially with the comic dub ones of Murder Drones). Sad that Murder Drones is over after episode 8.😢 At least for now because Liam Vickers mentioned "While there's certainly more to tell in this world". There's a rare chance that Liam Vickers might come back to Glitch Productions in the future (around late 2027/early 2028) to work on season 2 of Murder Drones or a spin-off series of Murder Drones or even a new and original IP animated series from Liam Vickers (that takes place in the same universe as Murder Drones, before or after the events of Murder Drones). But other than that, thank you Glitch Productions, Liam Vickers, Michael Kovach, Elsie LoveLock, Nola Klop, AJ, and the crew at Glitch Productions for making this awesome indie animated series!🥹
I'm fine with the way murder drones is, and that we got a happy ending. I will keep this show in the back of my mind. And maybe watch the series a couple times per month over and over again- but I don't ever want to forget this show and the impact it had on me, this is my comfort show despite all the gore lol
It’s a show that changed the scene. Messy as it was, (as it was developed at a time glitch was just getting into this whole thing after Meta Runner), it’s still a good neat show nonetheless. Really like the casual vibe of this whole thing.
20:45 - 20:53. Sorry, but I disagree with you. Her Solver’s rampage is less triggered by her envy towards the Murder Drones for becoming popular among her classmates, and more triggered by her fear of being abandoned by N (either because of his newfound popularity or because of her turning into a robotic abomination), since he was the only person who treated her like a person, rather than an unhinged freak. This is supported by V constantly insinuating that Uzi doesn’t deserve her relationship with N, and then trying to kill her TWICE when she’s becoming too dangerous (even though Uzi never wanted to be), flaring up Uzi’s insecurities and freaking her out even more. She may be a weirdo, and a bit of aggressive, but she does have moments of regrets and compassion; it’s just that no one, except N, bothered themselves to know her.
I think Uzi's abandonment issues were underexplored; the Solver powers and fear of hurting people could have been an extension of her psychological fear of opening up to people out of fear of losing them like she lost her mom. It also doesn't help that MD wants to be too many things at once, they don't give space for their characters to breathe and contemplate what it's happening. We see Uzi struggling with the Solver for less than half of an episode and then it's not something on her mind anymore. We see drones being killed as one-off gags but then we need to feel sorry for them for being mistreated.
One other soundtrack which I find to be very underrated is Eternal Destroyer. I say this cause I don't hear much about it. It's the soundtrack that plays at V's return, and its an ABSOLUTE callback to Eternal Dream. I just feel like it connects her death and coming back well using similar vocals but makes it more dramatic with the guitar and stuff. Deff makes it to my top 10 soundtracks (id say top 5 but those are easily taken by this order : Eternal Dream, Forever, Bite Me, Solver Uzi, and Knife Dance)
Murder Drones is truly one of the indie animated shows of all time. It was pretty fun helping edit this guy yap for an hour (even though i was paid with dirt lmao)
now hold on, I DO agree that its THE best modern indie series out there, but imo skibidi toilet takes the crown as the best indie series OAT. (im a fan of both)
When you said that ep 6 was the first episode you watched after the show took off is literally what I did. But the difference is is that I got my first phone and after seeing several videos on it including Matpats vid on it. Never regretted that.

I agree. Murder Drones is a pretty good show all around. What truly stops it from being great for me are a lot of the things you brought up in your comment. The intro and ending were done really well, but the execution for the middle portion (EPS 2 - 6) was a little sloppy. Like the initial pitch for this show was a lot grander but due to budget and other types of indie show related constraints, it was scaled down tremendously to meet the episode count. So they chose to cram the major scenes and action set pieces in a much more condensed format. To reemphasize, the overarching narrative was not bad, but the pacing of it caused me to not resonate with the plot and characters as much as the creators might have intended. With the show now over, the chances of any new material coming out, aside from merchandise and brand tie-ins, are fairly slim. But something I would be interested in seeing is a Murder Drones expanded and enhanced edition. Not really a season 2, but more season 1. @TysALT Oh, did Liam talk about that? Was this during the first GlitchX Q&A out of curiosity?
@ yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeesss… 78% sure
@TysALT I could have sworn I watched all the parts where Liam was talking but I could be wrong.
