It was always goosebumps during the halftime shows. I was there until 78, so similar to here in 1981, band director Bill Slayton. Some of what this country can do if put minds into doing so. Over 300 teens.
From where considered just a bunch of farm boys type of high school, when I there lived learned from, experienced and saw, so much more than that. I wasn't happy about the high school switch my senior year, but I adjusted very quickly, and was very welcomed as a new girl, at what was considered the surfers high school. Academically I think both were the best in the area back then of public high schools.
Personally I wanted to go to Catholic High for high school, because that's where so many of my middle school friends were going to go. It was about the distance daily drive, why not. My mother didn't want to, until I could drive myself. Also because I won second place in the local Optimist Club speech contest, at 12 years old, up against a 16 year old from Catholic High. Their speech coach told me that she hoped that she could have me there. That's another why I wanted to go to Catholic High. I admit that also because the local unmentionable was going to go there. It wouldn't have made any difference, because I didn't put out.
Our band competed with this band at this Grand Nationals. Tate got 5th and we got 7th. I just wish I could figure out how to post this Grand Nationals shows from DVD to you tube. I took the entire finals and put it on DVD
J Nop I wish marching band was still this popular. When I was in HS we had a nice sized band (120+) but whenever we played almost no one paid attention and would talk during the whole thing.
I see so much of our show(The Cavaliers) that it is not even funny. I like this band(always have since we competed against them), but they are not very original IMO

My Spanish upbringing couldn't even imagine having sex in high school.

The Show Band was the Bomb......300 plus members......kids now days would rather play X-Box. Sad!
