Bought this today. My very first luxury watch. I was a bit anxious when walking out cause I've had a different model in my mind. But after watching this video and reading comments, I feel much better that my money is spent on a great watch. It's a beautiful and attractive watch and feels great when wearing. Many thanks to the creator of the video and everyone who shared their knowledge, experience and passion.
I bought my first Rado True 5 years ago and it really looks like new. If you ever had a watch made of hightech Ceramic at your wrist, you will love the wearability and the feeling. Even my 45mm Rado Chronograph wears like a watch much smaller and half the weight. Yesterday I had the chance to try the new Captain Cook at my 18cm wrist, but it looks too big and a little bit chunky. I also think the price is too high compared with the other ceramic watches from Rado. Here in Germany it goes for more than 3.800 €. By the way I love your Videos.
Holy Sh!t, this watch is gorgeous! I love that it is so scratch resistant. Ultra modern yet emphasises that tremendous movement. Really slick and classy. With everything going on, not at a watch you'd grow tired of.
This has to be the best Captain Cook release so far for me anyway. The smoked transparent dial is wonderful. I think I prefer the black over the gold as the gold reminds me of a certain cigarette brand from many years ago. Terrific filming Teddy.
That’s a sharp looking watch! I normally don’t like Captain Cooks, but I like that one. I too would like Teddy to discuss the shattering issue raised in other comments. Thanks.
This is a really cool watch. Love the looks of the ceramic and the skeleton design. I was lost when I heard it's only beating at 3 Hertz and it's priced at $4,000.
First time commenting, really like your videos. I own 2 Rado watches, I live in Puerto Rico. Here in the island as I grew up the Rado Diastar Original was a big thing, my first Rado was the new original automatic diver edition, really liked how I could have a more modern version of that very popular Rado Diastar Original. About 2 years ago I got a new Rado, the hyperchrome 1616. I fell in love with the watch, I have the brown ceramic with light dial. I really would like to see a video of that watch but I also can see how it may not be so popular due to its large size. This captain cook is a great looking watch, thinking of also making it part of my collection. Thanks for you videos.
Teddy I think there's an elephant in the room that you didn't address, which is the concern from most watch collectors that ceramic cases and bracelets, although having all the benefits in which you mentioned, comes with a huge drawback of being shatter prone. Would be nice if you have addressed it, whether it's a significant concern, or if Rado's high tech ceramic has some additional shatter resistance etc
The plasma hightech ceramic is really the most scratch-resistant material in the watch industry. When I bought my first Rado I had the same concern and asked my favorite watch dealer about that. They assured me that they haven‘t had such a case in the last 10 years.
That's a good point. We actually design a lot of pumping systems for different industries from food to chemicals to handling radioactive waste. A lot of different materials are used depending on the pumped solution and ceramic is one of those materials. It's guaranteed to crack if it's dropped, just like a toilet bowl would. If it's lightweight though it might survive depending on the surface it hit, but chipping is likely at least. Like Aluminium that is being used in some watch cases now, (its problem is the opposite to ceramic, too soft and expands and contracts easily with temperature changes, affecting the seal of a watch), it's not really the best material to use. Of course mobile phone companies put glass backs on high end mobile phones, totally the wrong material, but fashion often supersedes logic.
Very nice review. I do like the watch but with working from home so much, a date window at least is important for me, as they days seem to roll into each other right now. I know it would ruin the aesthetic a little, but at 6pm with matching colour, it would probably work. Of course you'd see the date wheel, but I would just darken that part a bit! Of course, as a diver of 20 years, ceramic is the most ridiculous material to put on a dive watch. Ceramic is scratch resistant but smack it of a rock on the sea bottom, or a rocky outcrop when underwater cave diving and ceramic will break like a coffee cup hitting a stone floor. There's a reason Stainless Steel is used on dive watches.
Teddy Do you think this watch is as much value and worth buying as the standard cook. I am considering and wanted your opinion before I make a decision. Can you sell both of these models if I make decision?
Longines L888 movement is much better. If Rado's R734 movement is based on the powermatic 80 movement that cannot be serviced it's definitely a NO from me.
Thank you for the video , could you please clarify if the movement is basically a Powermatic 80 or not? I would not like to purchase a watch that can't be serviced. Thank you
Would the 21mm bracelet of the 43mm version work also on the 42mm version of captain cook (stainless/bronze)? They both are 21mm wide but I wonder if they share identical design at the lugs/end-piece to ensure they would actually fit each other?
Does anyone know any brands that make fully ceramic watches (case and bracelet) other than Rado? The only other brand that comes to mind is Nixon with their limited edition line some years ago.
I really want him to look at the diastar original. It's a really cool watch with a unique design is virtually scratch proof. Thinking of having it be my next purchase
Rado is never appealing to me... Until 2 months ago this piece show up in a drama I like and I keep eyeing for it. But no money to buy one... One thing I like about this watch is the see-through design. Mainspring can be visible on 5 o'clock which can be double as power indicator.
Since I try to be a very positive member of your community, I have never made a negative comment on any watch you have ever presented on either channel, but let me say that when these were released i was ....disappointed.And it's not just that they are so large. Just hideous. to each his own I suppose.
Its kinda ugly. For the "normal" captain cook, the combination of traditional looks and modern materials works because of the minimalism from both ends. The "bling" of the gold and the transparent dial is too busy, flashy and does not work with the more reserved vintage design.
It's so unfortunate that this watch is way too big for me and for most people. I really hope Rado come out with a smaller and slimmer version. I absolutely love the look and material of this watch 🥲

I really like the semi-transparent dial and that hint of gold really complements the black!! Another great video Teddy!
Been done before, look at Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire Watches

My wife bought me this watch as my wedding gift. I'm absolutely addicted to it and it is absolutely gorgeous. So happy with it.
I think that the ceramic looks incredibly good on this model. Well done, Rado!
Instantly became a RADO fan now with this watch. 3d look and translarent skeleton and a beautiful dome

Ordered mine yesterday, supposed to show up on 11/26. Can’t wait! Such a gorgeous piece.
You did not order ..liar
I own 3 dive watch's. I don't need another one. But, I'm considering a CCook. So good looking.
There's nothing I don't love about this watch. Great concept, design and execution!
Stunning watch. Really. And a very well done video.😊
Thank you kindly!
Would love to see a review of the hamilton jazzmaster range available on your online shop

but doesn't ceramic shatter if you accidentally drop it on a hard surface?

@@Yinn224 I thought the same thing and hope that Teddy will address it in the comments.
Yes but u need to smack it really hard is not so easy to destroy it. Replacment costs however are high

Nice. Different. Pins in the links or screws? No adjustment on the fly?
i really think they should make it in gun metal cos the flat black doesn't really shows off the lines of the case
I ❤ it what's the cost $ ?
Anyone know of the gold accent bezel and crown are ceramic or fade risk plating?

When is True Thinline review coming out? Nobody covers them in the whole RUclips.
Does bracelet have "half-link" - there is something like "bar" inserted to clasp - is it removable? - because it has hole and pin
I have the rado centrix, lovely watch.
How do you compare rado against a tag huer, longine or a Raymond weil ??
Teddy
Do you think this watch is as much value and worth buying as the standard cook. I am considering and wanted your opinion before I make a decision. Can you sell both of these models if I make decision?
what is better this captain cook or a tudor pelagos?
is this watch as good as the longines hydroconquest? 😎👍
No
This much better than longines

Hi teddy. Please add Rado diastar original to your collection. Would love to buy them. Love its unique shape and design.

I just bought two (black and grey) 😍
Will you ever make a video about U-Boat watches? Lovely and unique watches and I think they deserve your take on them. :)
I would have loved to see you wearing this watch since we have the same wrist size!
Rado failed to add lume to the triangle on the bezel on these transparent models...
Gorgeous!
The only Rado that looks good.
What colour is this watch
teddy what do you think about alpinas? i have an alpiner 4, is it a super cheap in terms of quality ?
Its a lil too big for my small wrist. Great vid Ted!
Here in India Rado is valued more then Rolex 😂
Why?
@@almac9203 some brands are more popular in other countries. Indians love their Rado's!

I just might!! 😁
Image Of Rado Is Same Like An iPhone In India LOL ❤ My Rado ✨
I like the Captain Cook design, but not so much to plunk down for a watch that's on the outside edge of being too big for me.
wassup teddy!!! 😎✌️
Hey hey!
I have this alhamdulillah ❤️
It's beautiful but I can't afford it
Anyone have this watch, i want one so bad but that ceramic bracelet is being begging to chip
Woww !!

Damn, this dude can speak English well.
Such a shame that they cut the beat rate and put plastic in the movement. I love the watches but the movement is a big no.
Unique and elegant sexy
phirst like!!! 😎👍
They should have given this on an upgraded movement
phirst!!!
Thanks for watching!
