Only to think what Cliff would have been if he was still alive..... I personally think he would have transcended Metallica, his musical talent was too good.....

Lars says in his speech about being on tour with ozzy for the ultimate sin, i went to that concert....and as a massive ozzy/sabbath fan, after seeing meallica live on master of puppets, i was fucking blown away by them and cliff. i was standing right in front of cliff in the front row. not even 3 months later Cliff was dead. i imagine cliff would have made metallica even better band than they are today because he wouldnt give a shit about sales, and money and awards, he would be doing it for the headbangin, thrashing, power chords that made them what they were in an era of Hair bands

I heard Black Sabbath for the first time in 70 or 71. I was hooked! Tony's riffs had an immediate trance on me. As a lefty with small fingers, all I saw was posters of Slowhand or Jimi wielding Strats with their 9 inch fingers. Having played an accoustic for about a year, I was ready to give it up. Then a miracle happened! I saw Tony playing a Gibson SG and the same day I saw an SG in a pawn shop and the guy had no idea of it's worth! For $100 I started rockin'! And wore that guitar out 35 years later. THANK YOU SO MUCH, TONY IOMMI

Lol Geezer is so cool in my eyes😎 he said afterwards that he has bad social anxiety and he was very nervous. He writes about it in songs like "going Insane"
That's quite something....for the guys who created metal all those years ago, guys who all the other metal bands followed in their footsteps, to remember Cliff and Dime like that, at an awards show when it was their time to shine, that's something pretty special.
I love Black Sabbath, Bill is my family.

Dio must have been there. Technically and musically much more interesting than Ozzy; breathing new life to Sabbath and launching the band to new heights with H&H. Anyone who says he’s not Sabbath assumes that Sabbath is ONE person ( Ozzy) which would be incredibly close-minded. Although I love the riffs off the first albums with Ozzy, I do despite Ozzy’s piercing, screechy vocals. Dio added a whole new layer of musically, volume and power to the band that deserved at least a shout out.
If cliff Burton knew at the rnr Hall of Fame that geezer was going to dedicate his award to cliff Burton. Cliff would of died right there...cliff loved Sabbath and when they toured with Ozzy in 86. Cliff would talk to Ozzy about geezer. He wanted to know everything about him...and dimebag too....2 amazing musicians cut down in there prime..,way to go sabbath

The Dio argue can go on forever. Dio's work with Sabbath was awesome, but Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill are and will always be the four cornerstones of not only Black Sabbath, but Heavy Metal in general. Anything that came after this original and ground breaking line up was a bi-product of what these four gentlemen so fabulously created.

Geezer was definitely Cliffs biggest inspiration. All those old clips of Metallica playing when Cliff was alive, you can see he was channeling his inner Geezer Butler. The long flailing hair, the head banging, and the same playing technique in his fingers.
I'm glad Geezer acknowledged Cliff, as well as Dime.

If you notice this induction was in 2006. Dedication to Cliff Burton and Dimebag Darrell was because they were deceased. Dio did not pass away until 4 years later in 2010

i cant think of any other band in history that deserves it more than Sabbath...i mean, arguably, there are bands that deserve it as much, but this band, think of all the music we wouldnt have today without these 4 dudes (and dio as well, cause he was equally kick ass with Sabbath) doing their thing against the mainstream of the era they were in and still spawning LEGIONS of fans in the shadows of radio and pop artists of the day. As Lars said, Sabbath are THE pioneers of metal, and im proud to say when i discovered them in the late 70s i was a massive Kiss fan but quickly turned into a life-long Sabbath fan, and still, at 47 years old call these dudes my very favorite band of all times. Well deserved Sabbath. thanks for giving me a soundtrack to my life. Any song played by Sabbath brings back awesome memories in my life, which is what, i feel, music should do.
May have a place in rock history, Sabbath is rock/metal royalty.

Cliff touring with Ozzy in 86 he was psyched, cliff loved Sabbath and geezer he couldn't wait to talk to Ozzy about geezer and the Sabbath days...cliff knew they made it opening for Ozzy. Although he didn't let that go to his head....to hear geezer dedicate this to cliff and dime is an honor. Cliff loved Sabbath and geezer and dime loved Sabbath and Tony Iommi. Cliff and dime would be blown away 20 years after cliffs death and 2 years after dimes....@cliffdimerandy
