Different breed back then. My parents and grandparents did the 1st and or the 2nd world war with the great depression squeezed in the middle. Then went on to make lives for us. We better pull up our socks.
A lot of people seem to think D Day was the start of the war for us. My Grandpa had already been fighting in the Pacific for 2 years by this time. Already wounded, recovered, and back into battle.
My grandpa was on first wave on Omaha with the 1st division. He also fought north Africa and Sicily and was wounded on his birthday in 1945 and came home. Isn't day goes by I don't think of and miss him. Thanks for sharing this. I will wear his dog tags tomorrow in honor of DDay
@@BirdDogg isn't that the truth. Pap walked with limp from mortar shrapnel til he died at age 95 and never filed for anytyoe disability pension for it and was a logger and farmer into his early 80s.
Very few of them real men still alive. They served their country well. I hope our country served them equally as well after their service. God Bless America 🇺🇸
Most vets are the same. My wife's grandfather was in the Pacific airforce groundcrew. All he said to me was " I don't like guns because I have seen too many people shot." He was on Morotai Island. The war there was interesting, they only captured half the island and just fenced it off. And killed any Japs that attacked. It must have been pretty severe.
Well there is no point old ones fighting it would be slow achingly painful and there would have to be constant breaks for the toilet. Also, counter to your ageism, younger people also cause Wars.
Well, there is a lot of footage of that already out there, this is footage that was left in the cutting room floor and has largely been lost to history. Sadly, RUclips doesn’t much like footage of the realities of war and thus society continues to largely be blind to them. They restricted my video of pictures of handicapped veterans, so I’m sure they’d shut down bodies on the beach.
I'm thinking, these things would not have happened if people would only learn how to stop anyone starting a world war even if he was just thinking of it from the start.

Thank You to the greatest generation in my lifetime GOD BLESS THEM
For UK the War started 1939 and had been fighting the Axis powers for 2 years before the US Cavalry arrived after Pearl Harbor.

My uncle was a tail gunner on a B-29 and an old friend of mine was in one of the gliders. They are all gone now .

Didn’t show the lives that were lost on the beaches

There was a couple of brave men that lost their lives in this clip. I hope they found peace. God Bless them all.
Good poit
Depends on which beach you were landing on that day.Omaha Beach was the bloodiest.
Unfortunately, most of the pre-invasion bombing and shelling was too far inland leaving most of the German defensive fortifications untouched...😕
Great video
looked like the American were not in D Day in this film ! Only the British ! Was America in this War ?

I highly doubt our sacrifices are respected by Europeans, especially the French.
You would be 100% wrong.
@@bobmcrae5751 - I would 100% be happy to be wrong…
Dean Martin ????
Dino was drafted in 1943 but dismissed because of a hernia. He didn’t see any combat.
