  • D-DAY TO GERMANY: RARE COLOUR Footage from D Day and the War in Europe
Jack Lieb was too old to enlist in the Armed Forces during World War 2. Instead of taking up arms, he took up his camera and documented the events before, during and after D-Day in his footage, From D-Day to Germany.
In this episode of WW2 Wayfinder, I have taken the original footage taken by Jack and enhanced it with tweaks to the audio, image quality and more importantly providing background information on Jack Lieb, and his colleagues like Robert Capa and other wartime correspondents who risked it all to record the momentous events that unfolded from D-Day to Germany!

    Fantastic footage and your narration,
Putting a name to these people makes it so real. My dad flew over on D Day in a Lancaster RCAF/RAF, He was a tail gunner. What if find special is the dog mascot, and how important they were. In my dad’s squadron had a dog, he was called ‘spot’. It was his dog but it became the squadron mascot, strange how men clung to a small animal. I have only one photo of him on a return from a mission with the dog on his shoulder. They meant so much. Such courage, we owe then so much.

    Hi Jon
This is an interesting behind the scenes reel that Lieb filmed and personally narrated, whilst he was assisting George Stevens with the official US signal Corp D-Day to Berlin documentary which was narrated by Stevens.
It’s war correspondent stories like this that really makes you appreciate the efforts and sacrifices that Lieb, Stevens and tragically Robert Capa and Ernie Pyle did to show the people at home the true tragedy of war.
Thanks so much again for sharing another great video presentation with nice little technical inserts.
    Cheers mate ❤😊

What a great documentary of some of the action reporters saw during WWII, to bad 80 years later we still haven't learned that war is nothing but evil and should be avoided at all costs. Thank you for sharing this film and God bless all our service men and women.

"Nothing but evil"? Yes, but "at all costs"? Sorry, but no. When evil does its thing on you, what are you supposed to do? Stand there and take it? Think you can negotiate with the perps and forget the crimes they have heaped upon you? Deterrence works sometimes, but often, not. What was Israel supposed to do after October 7, avoid war at all costs?

My son, Roy Wulf, was honored to be able to participate in an event at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. on June 6, 2024 to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. We made a fun video of the event and posted it on his RUclips channel 'Mr. Roy Wulf' at ruclips.net/video/cphGjHyHXDw/видео.html -- My father (Roy's grandfather) was a B-24 Pilot in the Pacific. My wife's father (Roy's other grandfather, whom he is named after) was with the Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific. Let's continue to remember the sacrifice made at the landings in Normandy and in the entire Second World War!
