Breathless. Sad. As an old white lady (61) who was raised in 60s - saw people struggle for rights - raised my kids to do better. This is brilliant - cringing - NEEDED. Todrick your art is magnificent- didn't know how you would top Out of Oz, but you've exceeded it and I have no doubt will do so again.
Mr. Chapo 1978 Is there any places white people can't go? They basically colonized half of the world. I live in South East asia & white people are basically be treated better than the natives here. East Asians also treat white ppl equally but not brown & black.
I'm pretty sure what she meant was that she saw the struggle that African Americans had to go through because this whole video is obviously alluding to that.
Now that someone posted the lyrics, I am thinking the French represents calling it by another name; dress it up in fancy language; do not see it for what it is; make excuses and dance merrily along with your day!. It's brilliant!
Dani Garcia He should mention the neighborhoods that are killing everyday. It's not those white neighborhoods. Why won't he make a change where it matters?
And of course the street sign is backwards...it says novyart which is Trayvon backwards...TODDY I LIVE FOR YOUR VIDS AMD MUSIC!!!! Love it all and can’t wait to see you April 29th in Charlotte!!!
The directing and score of the first part of the video is absolutely stunning. The bubble gum pop representing the gun shot, the gold fish water representing the blood and the sweeping under the rug to conclude the video were all genius choices! Completely awe struck with this video, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!👏🏾
Not sure about that people now, if anything happens people are all over that shit people are not about turning away anymore. and if any black person dies from a cop that shit is all over the news and the world is outraged doesn't really sound like a racist world anymore. so there is definitely no turning away.
I hate to say it, but that describes me exactly. I gave up on the news and any social media coverage of news, because it is SO often something horrible that I feel powerless to do anything about. I am not saying that if something like that happened in front of my face that I would not do something to try and stop it because I totally would. I would have tried to save the boy in the video even if the rest of the town hated me for it, because it would have been the right thing to do. I just hope that one day [hopefully in my lifetime] people can see other people just as human beings and not as straight, gay, black, white, a religious affiliation, a [insert country]an, less, or more but just as a person with a life story you do not know. Judge someone on WHO they are and not WHAT they are.
Elizabeth wentorf most of the world don’t care about colour or where you are from its just the small cases of racism or whatever that do happen stick out like a sore thumb because that stuff does not happen much. I mean their will always be some racism but as long as people and society continue to condemn it, it will be fine.

I love the detail put in to this how everything that is considered not the norm is now normal in this town. From yellow fire hydrants to lemon trees instead of apple trees. Todrick is such a genius!!!❤❤❤
This gave me an existential crisis about the society I live in (in a good way). We can talk all we want about how aware we are of the problems in the world, but instead of directly adressing them we just push them aside and insist there's nothing we can do but look down upon them and cynically comment on how problematic they are.
My favorite part is definitely when he says “be careful where you’re tapping your toes” and they skip right over the dead body. That’s the most insane part to me because it’s so prominent in our culture right now...you’re about to start a revolution 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Watching this video felt like someone just sucker punched me in the gut. Deep message that more people need to be aware of. So thanks Todrick for punching this reality into a very catchy song. Kudos to you sir!🤔😏👌
Dayum. What isn’t amazing about this? -it’s visually pleasing -role reversals from to a black cop shooting a white man, to same sex marriages being put as the superior type of marriage -read the sign backwards -timing was amazing on the little girls parts
I remember watching this when it came out (2 years sago) and thinking how powerful and important it was, with age it has only become more so. It’s upsetting that these issues are still so relevant, is video is more educational then what some kids learn in schools about racism and homophobia. Thank you Todrick x
Yesterday I watched a video of a speech by Dr. Cornell West from twenty years ago. It was bracing and painful how little has changed, and how prophetic his words were/are.
The sweet happy music and bright visuals... they are so painful to see, and so effective at showing the message. A person is shot, and the day just keeps turning. :(
Todrick has such an extraordinary & rare mind☺️. They way he makes art & delivers it! And it’s sad this is the reality we live in, something bad happens “ oh it’s just another day, the birds are chirping” as easy as it was for that girl to pop her gum, the man was dead. And then the race swap. Usually it’s a white cop shooting a black person. The people were living in such harmony & oblivion. Well done Todrick👏🏽☺️
This short film is so bold and deep on so many levels. A very interesting juxtaposition as the script has been flipped in this beautiful, serene, small town with all its pastel prints of a cool and calming color palate. Straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting. I can talk/write about all the symbolism I see in this short film for hours.
This is such a catchy melody, but dear lord does it leave me feeling disturbed when I pay attention to the lyrics. The lyrics, combined with the video, really helps solidify that unnerving atmosphere; the visual symbolism was a very nice touch - the dust literally being swept under the rug, the goldfish left to die unnecessarily... Honestly Todrick, this was awesome, and I really look forward to listening to the whole album when it drops.
The cries that have gone ignored for years, and when we've seen these works of art in the past we have also ignored them, since the violence has not been in our direct line of sight. Now it saddens me that by this we weren't moved to act, it took instead many more lives broadcast as they were stamped out coldly and this served more as an I told you so. Broken, broken world.

The Earth keeps turning and moving
The sun comes up and it's gone
