haha I hear you... usually they'll keep an eye out for you though! Or other passengers would see your empty seat! There are always ways around this -- a friendly local would figure out your situation...worst case scenario. ;)
Hey Julia, we met briefly at Suan Mokkh earlier this year, you were buying all the books!... I was the tall English bloke trying not to buy all the books ;) I was just researching border crossing into Siem Reap and saw your video, very helpful! If by any chance you fancy meeting up and helping a lost English guy find his way in Siem Reap I would love that. Just leave a message here. You may well not see this message in time, but thanks for the helpful info! Laurie :)
Hey!!! It's so nice to hear from you! I'm actually back in Chaiya right now and just finished another retreat at Suan Mokkh, but volunteered this time! I'll be back in Siem Reap by end of month. When will you be there! I head to Bangkok later this week and back to SR. I'd love to meet up for coffee!
Hi Julia, just checked my messages and it seems my response to this message 8 days ago didn't register!! Unless somehow it has been read and deleted, but maybe I just didn't press send???
Are you on FB? Find me on there and please send me a message through there because sometimes I don't check these often... let's have coffee!@@Transform-with-Laurie
Hi, yes check all your folders, I sent one to you, and a friend request. This YT is not working at all well, deleting my thread. Looking forward to catching up! @@juliahaw
Hell yeah. No looking back on this one. It was a seriously righteous experience. Even if there are more people I don't see it being too bad because the seats and legroom are so spacious! Thanks for watching!
4th video I've watched of yours. Now if I ever go from NH to Cambodia for a month or six, I know that if the best fare or use of frequent flier miles gets me to BKK instead of , I can just hop on the bus like a pro. Maybe not the best way to get a first visa there, though, while in danger of the bus leaving?
Great tips. One need not stay in a single place in your growth journey. The world is just too interesting. Just another tip for some growth: the bird "ibis" is pronounced with a long i, eye-bis.
haha Nice catch on the pronunciation!!! One need NOT stay in a single place. Wherever you go, there you are. I'm just happiest in Siem Reap, so I tend to stay here for longer periods of time. :)
Welcome back! How was the bus for smoothness? (I get motion sick so easily without a sedative). And also they gave you a 1 year visa at the border? You didn't have to get a 30 day ordinary at first?
Sorry let me clarify: I got the ordinary Visa, then extended at my local office once I got to Siem Reap, for a 6 month Visa. I figured since I'm heading back to the states for a bit in May that I'd get the 6 month Visa for now. The bus was SUPER smooth by the way. You might even be OK, or at least with a low dose sedative.
thank you for the video. Really help as I thought there're no buses from Bangkok to Siam Reap. Will be going to Siam Reap tomorrow but still haven't decided between using train or bus from Bangkok.
@@juliahaw so if you never used the train how can you "definitely recommend" the bus? If you are a newcomer you shouldn't give recommendations, only.xheap Charlies use the bus in reality and flights are cheap
You mentioned about getting a 12 month visa. Are you affected by the recent E-visa changes? I guess it is quite tough extending beyond 3 months (without a shit pile of paperwork) at the moment. Or has it all already blown over?
Ehhhh that's a tough call. I actually ended up getting my 6 month for now, because I'm heading to the states for a couple months in May anyhow, so it made the most sense. That was super easy to acquire. I have heard about a lot of the changes that are supposed to be in effect already... I'm freelance, so we'll see the next go around how the Visa fares. It changes every time, doesn't it seem?
thailand is an awesome place to travel. chiang mai is my favourite place there. you should visit hoi an in vietnam too that is a very idyllic and beautiful town too
I still have YET to visit Hoi an -- but I will! I've been to Hanoi and Halong Bay, but that's about it for Vietnam! Chiang Mai is amazing..... Thanks for watching!!!
Actually, no. Especially not with 60 pounds of items -- I brought 40 pounds of canvas. IT would be a good $200 with extra baggage costs the way Airasia works. If I just had a small bag, the prices would be somewhat similar? But then also, factor in the half hour taxi to the airport. The bus is cheaper no matter how you look at it.
Yes, but the $100 is out of some people's budget range. I think it's totally worth it.. On this bus trip I took 40 POUNDS of canvas for painting. That would have been a $200 flight! haha
Does the bus leave from giant ibis office in Bangkok ?
Hey! Thank you for your video. Could you please tell how often does the bus stop? I assume there isnt a toilet onboard
One of my fears when travelling is missing the bus during a rest stop. Has never happened to me, but the scenario often plays in my head.
haha I hear you... usually they'll keep an eye out for you though! Or other passengers would see your empty seat! There are always ways around this -- a friendly local would figure out your situation...worst case scenario. ;)
Exciting adventure. I wanna cross the Thailand/Cambodia boarder, too.
Cheers!!!
Hello! Going to take this route next year, would you suggest a sleeper bus?
Have you started putting the canvas to good use Julia? Enjoyed watching your bus trip and wondering when you are planning to drop your next video!

very cool report. They accept Thai Baht in the Cambodian border for a tourist visa fee, or just USD ?
USD, how would sure know she's new? USD only
The accept thai Baht as payment as well 1300 baht.

What website are you using to look at all your travel options? Ah, must be Trip Advisor?
Great question. For this, I think I was using Rome2rio.com I also use movetocambodia.com a LOT. They are one of the best resources out there.
Is this good to visit Angkor wat ?
Good to visit Cambodia ?

Mostly any shop will carry them. Super easy! Get the Cell Card app for your phone and you can load money on there. They will help you set up. x
