I would say more a serial of short films with the interview of other crew members and events that happened during these 40 years in space and the “other one”. She was not there alone, or did I missed something.
There are so many films, including this one, spoiled by music which is louder than the dialogue. For the hard of hearing, like me , it is a problem. I caught so many words, but without subtitles I can't say for sure what this film was about. It would be nice if film makers considered everyone in their audience, rather than a select number.
Yes, agreed. There was sufficient to provoke thought in the theme, without the attempt to provide unnecessary 'drama' by the intrusion of this music. And I say this as someone whose hearing is at a normal level.
I'm the same way, I'm hard of hearing and sometimes there's noise or others talking whilst the main characters are talking and being drowned out. So I rely on cc
I pulled up the video on my phone after watching it on my television to make these same points. The team that made this film has great potential, I will add.
What caused her to lose her sight? Was it the brightness of the new world they found, or the overall brightness of the wall itself? What type of life did they find? This story needs continued.
I believe the other universe was the opposite of ours, reversing dark and light, as per the visual effects. The dark was bright Black was white. Her eyes adjusted, turning white. That’s my interpretation.

This makes me think so much of Stanislaw Lem. Beautifully executed. Fantastic backing music and simplicity that brings a sense of effortlessness. Thank you.
From the 4:00 minute mark to about 5:30 the music is loud enough to make it difficult to follow the dialogue. Captions would help there as well as with the distorted voices of the interviewers.
Agree. I have a pretty bad case of tinnitus, and music makes it hard to hear dialogue for me. Given the context of this video, it could even be done as a transcript of the interview. Please consider subtitles, there are a lot of us who needs them.
I must think this short through. Forty years in space, jumping through a wormhole, coming across a "wall", which she entered, finding a second "earth" (I am surmising), then she returned back to Earth? I lost track when the panel spoke of meeting family and friends, and how she was getting on with them. None of her family would still be alive, and she would be over 100 years old. Did she not return to the original Earth, but landed on the planet she discovered? Was it Earth from another dimension? Were the interviewers from that Earth? Help! I am so confused.
It says she was in space 40 years, she was 28 when she left. They lost over the whole aging and relativity thing. She's 68, her parents are probably in their 90s 🤷♀️ I think
Thank you for the fabulous first feedback, it's a real pleasure for the whole team. We look forward to future comments or questions about the film. :) Theo
Unfortunately I failed to understand the point of the short. Too many questions with no answers. 'Nothing' is exactly what I get from it. Did the planet they found end up being where she is now? What is the wall? Why is she being interviewed? Was she blinded from the light? It looked like the returned astronaut was just older, not blind. What about the little thing called time dilation? Just far too many questions and no answers, "nothing" at all.
Good work mate although I did have a bit of trouble understanding what they were saying. What is the interviewer asking at 5:39 before she says, "No, nothing"?
Nice use of very simple effects and a surprising cameo of a processed Juno image (done a couple of those myself) made it into the planetary line up. I suggest the score is toned down a tad to not drown out part of the dialogue.

Why can't we have some sci-fi concerning the saving of this planet Earth instead of always running away from the problems we create on this our home. These running away documentaries are a documentation of just how foolish we humans are. 73% of this planet is yet to be explored.
For the timeline thing, she could simply be doing an interview years or even decades after she returned home. In hyper sleep (cryogenic freezing) she would not have aged, so could have left at 28 years old, and returned to be say 30, then 60 or so years later they interview her.
Confused about the ending. Was she on the parallel earth? The clothes of the interviewers, that one girl walking barefoot and them using an analog tape recorder 40 years into the future - that didn't make sense. But then why would a parallel earth celebrate a human from another planet as the human of the century? And why did her crew bring back one tiny plant only? When did they go blind? If they were blind upon reaching the planet, how did they even know what the planet was capable of?
I missed parts of the dialogue, even replayed it several times on max volumn and couldn't understand. Can't say I like it when the words couldn't be heard. Wish there'd been subtitles.
The point of this short is subtle but enormous. "Nothing" refers to the torment of contrasting success in endeavor, scentific in this example, and the life dedicated to it's pursuit; and the lost opportunity to have a life of one's own. The telling point is where the protagonist makes the statement, "I enjoyed meeting my friend's children" - those words gives rise to the only emotion she's willing to portray to the panel of interviewers, one of bitter regret. For the rest she only feels nothing - hence the repeated, candid response. To have succeeded so well to ensure humanities survival as a species, honored and celebrated the world over - but for what? To do so to the detriment, to the nullification of her own lineage, gives rise to the question, "Why did I save them all, if there will be nothing left of me and mine?" There is no sweetness to salve a wound like this, hence, "Nothing" indeed. The cloudy eyes are a strong metaphor, though nothing is mentioned of her sight being affected. Somewhat poetically: Eyes clouded, there's nothing left to see if there's nothing left of me. An extremely individualistic sentiment to carry, and should appeal to anyone living in the modern age. 4 stars.
With all the time effort and skill that go into so many of these short productions, you would think creators would be willing to at least take the time to make sure these videos were accompanied by accurate Closed Captioning. there are some clues. the furniture is not modern, the office is not well lit, and the tape recorder is an older model. It's as if she landed at a much earlier time than when she left for space. She went blind because of the darkness (nothing) in space. She has no thoughts and feelings towards what she experienced (nothing).
It could have been almost mindbending until it wasn`t. The last minute of dialogue just destroyed the whole outstanding build prior. Just so disappointing.
