I've always enjoyed Bradley's acting (West Wing, Studio 60) but the more I see of him in interviews or conversations like this, the more I like him as a person.

Brad is my third cousin once removed. I think that’s the lineage. My great grandfather and his grandfather were brothers. So this must be talking about his father’s side of the family. if you travel to the cemetery in Somerset, Michigan, you will see generation upon generations of us buried there. Brad‘s mother is buried there. She was a poet. A remarkable woman.

Great story and one I relate to as well. My great-grandfather was an immigrant, enlisted in the Union Army, joined the GAR and American Legion, and started farming in rural Iowa. His farm is now in its fourth generation as a family farm.

I believe the genetics, that travel through our familial generations, come out in so many similarities in each generation. Not just appearance, but mannerisms and personality. Bradley is probably more like Fred than he can realize.

    Really beautiful.
Many of us come from a mixture of different backgrounds. I find that understanding who we come from can help build bridges with those we might not have anything in common with.
I truly think that to save the country for the future we have to look to our past

I didn’t see them. Were they captured regimental flags? You know, trophies that republic soldiers hung to remember their victories over those rebel regiments?

Didn't see one, but I saw a mason symbol but back then it meant something different than today. Some institutions have been hijacked...

The people in the NORTH owned SLAVES also. Don’t be so pompous about your ancestor fighting for the Union. The Civil War was NOT about slavery. It was about big government and small government.
