What I liked about soy Luna is that she wasn’t naturally the best at roller skating she works to be better which a lot of shows don’t do. It’s usually new girl comes in and with natural talent over shines the mean girl who has been practicing her whole life. And with Soy Luna she comes in with basic talent and isn’t as good as Amber yet Amber feels threatened because she has potential. Which is a lot more realistic

Alexa Alfaro but the good thing about that show is that they actually recognize this common situation, that luna just came and pushed Ambar on the side , and Ambar actually gets help for the emotional problems . That never happened in violetta

In season 1 and sometimes 2, i feel that, but in season 3, i think Luna gets too annoying and too highlighted even for a main character like her. She becomes too much a drama queen, to self centered and even stuck up.

Ambar was the best disney channel villain until now ( haven’t seen Bia) . She wasn’t stupid like Ludmila or others, and she had good plans, she had good ideas. Also she had very clear her objective, which is beat luna in skating. She didn’t do simple & stupid stuff just to get her mad (at least most of the time). And in the end she recognizes (of course typical telenovela) that she was having emotional issues with the godmother, but also herself because she knew that she was being kinda manipulated by Sharon and didn’t like it but she thought she deserved it.(I haven’t seen full season 2). The scenes where she talks to herself in the mirror are amazing. And in the end she is a part of Simbar with is also amazing lol

@@nightshade158 mm Ludmila was the typical mean girl, treated everyone rude. Ambar was rude yes but I feel like she was more kind like she always did bad things to others in order for her to win, like Ludmila, but Ambar actually accomplished it most of the time.
great commentary! if i might add to your praise of Soy Luna, it's unique also because it has the best rehabilitated villain arc in ambar's character. she's not one dimentional, we get to see her past and the strict way she was brought up and how sunny luna came and "stole" her world (family, boyfriend, friends, rink). it also shows beautifully how she overcame her dark side by falling in love with simon and him believing on her even when others didn't.

THIS. Ámbar is my queen👑♥️. She feels so real, I fell in love with her since the first moment. Her character is very well written and the acting is ON POINT. Besides that, Ambar and Simon had one of the best couple chemistry and development I’ve ever seen. They were fire🔥. Simbar is one of the few couples that owns my heart FOREVER. And OMGGGGGGG. I still can’t get over Soy Luna too💔. It’ll always be in my heart.

I toootally agree with what you guys said about Soy Luna's first episode. The way they shot it was beautiful, the intro to the characters felt so natural, and the story just has this magic about it because of the personalities of the characters and their quirks and nationalities. Also, no show does core four characters better SL. Soy Luna stan and Lunatica all the way! .*~

@@gabriela7527 hey ! no, unfortunately, i don't know how to stream s2 or s3 with subtitles other than certain scenes on yt channels like lutteoluv and soy luna fan always - but i know cait has explained somewhere a way to download the subtitles i think? i personally know portuguese and could luckily make out dialogue in spanish. i'm sorry to not be of much help :(

1. Soy Luna- The songs, the characters, the growth, the romance, the drama, the friendships, and the family storylines are what make this show the best
2. Violetta- the growth of characters and romance gave this show and advantage. I really loved the songs
3. Bia- keep in mind there is only like 1 1/2 seasons this show is very modern and has really good bops

Vive en tu manera- I love this show a lot, but I don’t think the first few episodes are very strong at all, and there’s only like thirty episodes, when all the other telenovelas have over 200 or something, so that alone makes it the bottom of my (very short) list. But there’s a lot of other things I love about this show, like the drama, and the whole plot line with mias mom, and the music is great

3. Violetta- First season was pretty bad, 2nd season didn't get good til a little before the halfway point, (and tbh I haven't seen season 3 yet but it sounds like it's the best one so I'm excited for that and I'm excited to see Ludmila+Fede and Francesca+Diego's relationships bloom), but the music (especially in season 2) is so good!!
2. Bia- This show is sooo amazing! I LOVE the songs, and Chiara+Guillermo, Bia+Manuel, and Carmín+Alex are the BEST!
1. Soy Luna- This show is just incredible. It got me into learning Spanish and I've learned soo much already within just less than a year, the music is phenomenal, the character development for every single character is just so good, almost every ship ship is just amazing (as long as you switch out Éric with Gastón but Gastina is endgame in my head lol), the friendships are beautiful, the story line is so good, season 1 for some reason just gives me this magical feeling that I can't explain, their skating routines are super cool to watch, especially for someone like me who can't dance whatsoever, and they somehow manage to make every mean character lovable at some point. Also, the 4 most main characters are so well done especially. All right, I will stop ranting now😂
Violetta's first season feels weird. They are all the troops of characters already made in children's soap operas not produced by Disney such as Patito Feo, Floricienta and Rebelde. Mostly soap operas produced by Cris Morena but making them even more childish because the others had themes that were somewhat inappropriate for Disney so they were very limited with what they showed and that is why some of the plots do not make sense and they are still discovering themselves. same. The second seems bad to me, there is no clear objective unlike the first and the third is a total balance of the previous two and finds its identity.

ikr! that was the first episode i watched (i skate, and it's like luna-type) and i was so confused on how a girl who knew as much as i did beat a PRACTICALLY PROFESSIONAL skater.
My problem is not Luna beating Ambar, it's that Lunas problems magically disappear after one person tells her she can do it, like.... No! That's not how life works Luna! But I'm more of an Ambar fan anyways, so...
I don't think that's right... Luna already skated for years, she just started dancing on skates in the beginning of the series. Most of the actors also had no prior experience of dancing on roller skates, so they learned it in intensive training for a few weeks... so I think it is possible to improve that fast if you put in the effort. It's not like Ambar was a professional either, skating is just her hobby.

I believe the point of the Go! Movie was basically to set up more the relationships/ friendships as there will most likely be a season 3. Definitely could of been better but I understood what it was doing

There is definatly not enough time in each episode. That show is way better than I expected.
Something I really liked about Bia is that Carmin isn't even the main villain, she is a diva but Mara is actually mean and deep down quite evil.
I took the recommendation when Soy Luna hit Disney plus. It's really good, the second episode really pulled me into it though.
I was living in Africa when Violetta aired. Bruh... it was bomb I was in grade 11 everybody was talking about it. Boys and girls everybody wondering who she was gonna pick Leon or Tomás, I always liked Leon better.
However, I now live in Canada and some would say I am grown; I started watching Soy Luna at 18 and thats it... musically and iconic is Violetta but story line, Soy Luna is the Best! It is more realistic

I really loved Violetta. I still love it a lot. The only complaints I had was the fact Violetta just never learns to stop lying to people which OBVIOUSLY keeps causing her to get into problems with those she loves.
Another is the fact that Violetta and Leon can’t seem to just explain things to each other and just immediately assume things and are willing to break up without actually talking things through. Then they just spend the rest of the season flirting until they get back together in both the season… and it repeats EACH time for every season.
I agree Mia’s audition was weird , also what I don’t like about that character is that she makes herself the victim and also is the one who causes most of the drama .

My favourite telenovela is *Bia* , I agree what you mentioned about it. It has an incredible story and I think she's a different protagonist, stronger, and she doesn't have a love triangle.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't include Floricienta, but also, it is kinda old so in that sense it makes sense. But it was *everything* for me when I was really little, and when Violetta came out I liked it since the first episode because it was the same kind of vibe. So I don't think anything could replace those two shows for me, but I think I'll have to check out the rest of these series. From what you guys talked about Bia and Soy Luna look genuinely really interesting

Floricienta tour, around South America, was my first concert ever. I loved every part of it, it's one of the best memories I have from my childhood. Not only the concert, but watching the telenovela religiously every day with so much enthusiasm. I hope Caitlin gets to see it or at least watch the videoclips of their songs, they are so magical and beautiful. They make me have many feelings haha.
I tried watching the show last year, I found the episodes on RUclips and it was kind of cringey to watch, but still love it!!!!!! An interesting fact, my second concert was RBD, the band from Rebelde the Mexican version. It was a beautiful show that I couldn't stop singing all the time it lasted

I know that IT doesn' t be an international freak or sensatation or very succefful in mother countrys as violetta luna or patito feo, including Other shows of his creator like rebelde or floricienta if you want that I give you other examples. But it's a funny telenovela and talks about other thems that it wasn' t Been covered in the other shows Like children's exploitation, freedom of expression, Eating disorders, toxic relationships, teen's depression, times travels then talk about more adult tompics (especially many that are 2029/2030 agenda) like fight for environment, fight for peace, peace thought, pacifist thought, political corruption, global warming, lateral thinking, wars and resistance. And Also talks about spiritual thems like other planes and human evolution from spirituallity point. I recomend you that see IT! (There was 4 session with 579 episodes in total. IT was complete in RUclips in his own channel)

OMG SAMEEE!!! I didn't like Violetta but for some reason I watched the relationship between Fran and Diego and fell in love with them and I would watch the show just for them. I think they were really good for each other and not toxic at all.

Soy Luna is the BOMB and will always be the best show ever!!!!!!! The songs, relationships, skating, character development, and just everything about it I loved!💕❤️💖 It’s amazing and it’s also taught me so much Spanish and I just love it!!
At first I couldn't watch Soy Luna, Violetta had just ended and it was such a big part of my early teen years - even though I only saw the last half of season 1 and then the second and third season - I wan't ready to watch something different and I was also in a fase in which there where people making me believe that I was getting too old to like that kind of things. Once I got past all that I gave Soy Luna a chance and watched a couple episodes and I ended up loving the characters and the songs, I love how they show just how much Luna works to get better at roller skating because she loves it. It's truly inspiring.

Luna with her skating skills, Ámbar’s personality, Matteo’s attitude and personality and well I’m not sure how Simon changed but he did seem more mature. I really love what you said.
Here's the thing, if we're going to talk about the superior novela, we need to talk about the teen novela who actually started it all(and I'm not talking the actually first one but the one that blow up).
So in the 2002 Argentina created a novela name Rebelde Way it did good but then it have a Mexican remake in 2004 name Rebelde and that shit blow up the formula of singing teen novela, literally it was all over Latin America.
In 2008, 2 years after the ending of Rebelde, it was created a novela name Isa TKM, and the thing that it represents was the start of North networks involvement, because was created by Nickelodeon, it was really good and pave the way for another's North involved novelas. And after that there was Violetta, Soy Luna and many other singing novelas.
So I should put in the order that came out, even though Isa TKM make much more part of my childhood, I can not deny the success that Rebelde had.

teen telenovelas had been a staple of El canal de las Estrellas for at least decades before Rebelde Way, even Cris Morena had Chiquititas for years before RW, this in no way means i'm denying Rebelde its success but it did filled the by then but now forgotten 7 pm slot for the TT that Amigas y Rivales or A Mil por Hora had before it

The only teen novela I can think of that hasn't made a major impact is Like: La Leyenda. Even with a few Rebelde actors in it, I lost interest.

A Telenovela is just like a series
Okay but the part about Violetta being annoying in S1 (at least in the begging) is so true. I used to LOVE Violetta, was everything I talked about for 3 years(was basically my second personality). But I remember trying to rewatch it when S1 came on Disney+ and I couldn’t cause I just got so annoyed, it ruined the picture I had as a kid of Violetta. Later S3 came on Disney+ and I loved it. I mean, she had major character development, but S3 is the only one that lives up to my childhood memory nonetheless!
I finally started watching Soy Luna! Its so good, that I don’t mind having to read the subtitles! Also I wasn’t aware there were so many episodes, it’s definitely going to take me a while to watch them all!

something that annoyed me SO much from Kally's Mashup was the fact that they didn't respect the way Argentinian people speak.
I'm from Argentina and here (also in Urugay and I'm not sure if Paraguay too) instead of saying "tú" (which means "you") we say "vos" (which also means "you") when talking to someone else, and the conjugation changes beacuse of that.
When international shows are dubbed, they do it in what's known as "neutral spanish" (which uses the "tú" form of the verbs) so when watching telenovelas with Argentinian actors, it's nice to hear people speaking the way we do. In Soy Luna or Violetta, there were actors from different countries and thay all talked the way people with their nationality do, and some even used expressions from their countries. In Kally's Mashup, everyone spoke "neutral spanish", even if they were from different countries.

I started becoming obsessed with Disney telenovelas when I was in Cancún a couple years ago on vacation and Violetta was still airing. I didn’t think I would ever be able to watch it, but then it came on Netflix and I binged watched it and finished it a bit before they finally took it off and I was so relieved lol. I also watched the movie and I believe it’s still on there, I don’t think there needed to be a movie but I loved the story and the characters so much that I didn’t mind. I really enjoyed watching Go! Vive a tu Manera actually!! I’m currently watching Soy Luna and I’m so excited to finally have access to watch it. And like you said, I think if you were able to understand the Spanish it would seem a lot nicer for all the shows. I’ve read some of subtitles for some scenes and it doesn’t give the same affect and feelings as the Spanish does, either way I’m glad you enjoy watching them! I agree that Soy Luna is more realistic in some ways, but Violetta has something especial. The friendship on Violetta is more believable, more strong, i really love Francesca and Vilu friendship, Lud and Nat too. The chemistry between Vilu and Leon is more powerful too. Violetta's story catches me more, the voices of the cast are much prettier too. I just love Violetta. Leonetta is my otp💞

I loveee Go! It's like Violetta but more dramatic from the very start 😂😂😂😂 and some great songs.
Violeta is one of the only show I've finished from the ones on this list, if you talk about old novels like Peter Punk or Zeke and Luther, which were basically Disney xd, I can say that I'm definitely a fan, also of old shows like Hanna Montana or also from nick (Although I really like Kally).
But in conclusion, I think Violeta is one of my favorites and is one of the occasions that I like to speak Spanish natively (I am Colombian), and I love the soundtrack.
If you want to watch something really good, watch Cris morena telenovelas (rebelde way, casi angeles, verano del 98, chiquititas) those are great, but idk if there are translated or wth subtitles.
With rebelde way you can use a VPN on Netflix, because rebelde way is in the Argentinian Netflix.
As someone who doesn’t like telenovelas, Go Live Your Way is a pretty decent show honestly

I’m currently watching Kally’s Mashup online with my friend, I was watching Violetta on Disney plus along with Soy Luna, I miss watching Vikki’s RPM, Grachi, Yo Soy Franky, all three from Nickelodeon, I finished Go!: Vive a tu manera, and I haven’t watched Club 57 or Bia. ALSO, Disney XD had a telenovela called Peter Punk, which was made a year before Violetta.

The Nick ones are great, I like them better than the Disney ones but Disney is smart enough to dub and/or subtitle the shows in English unlike nickelodeon that just Remakes them

I just finished the first season of Soy Luna and I agree that it is number one! Luna is adorable and honestly a good person. Also the ships are so good. I thought the same thing about Violetta and Amber having similar personalities. Oh and Go! is actually pretty good once you get further in the series. Lol now I want to go watch all of these shows. To be fair, when you think about it, Go! was like a well put together mashup between Violetta and Maggie and Bianca - Fashion Friends. I mean, pretty, talented girl goes to a new school where she is an outsider. Another pretty, talented girl who is ice cold to almost everybody rules the roost, and they immediately clash, but are constantly around each other due to their classes. All three of those shows meet that requirement. In both Violetta and Go!, the new girl finds herself torn between two boys, one of which is dating the girl who strongly dislikes the main character. Maggie and Bianca is an Italian version of a telenovela, but the biggest selling point is that in the big first season finale, the twist was that Bianca's father was also Maggie's dad. When I saw the similarities with the shows watching Go! for the first time, I was super worried that it would follow that path but I kept telling myself that it wouldn't, like "Alvaro is Mia's love interest, so they won't be related" but nope! Netflix, you have done it again. Either way, would recommend you watch any of these shows. Violetta is on Disney+, Go! is on Netflix, and you can find the second season of Maggie and Bianca on Netflix but it won't make sense without the first season.

I found club 57s cinematography really interesting, like you said it was very similar to something like a sitcom with one shot and small setting, etc. If you compare it to like, soy Luna with these wide Ariel shots of cancun. It was fascinating
I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU DIDN´T TALK ABOUT AMBAR'S CHARACTER IN SOY LUNA!!!! I mean.... for as far as I know (being in the fandom since the start) her character is considered one of the best things (or ever THE BEST THING) about the show (plus her relationship with simon)!!

soy luna was cancelled for bia. which i find it stupid of disney to cancel popular shows for another when it is still at its peak but i also understand the need of it coming to an end after so many episodes. although i think they didn’t need to shorten the number of episodes in season 3 and given us more of lutteo relationship that wasn’t just 5 episodes.
samuraisupersentai i know disney shows don’t really go further than 3 or 4 seasons but i saw a video where the actress herself said soy luna was cancelled for bia. maybe not in the sense it stopped from having a fourth season but because they took away 20 episodes for the season.
Lol Soy Luna was not cancelled, for now it these types of telenovelas only last for 3 seasons, it doesnt matter if they are very popular and I heard a rumor that one of the reasons season 3 was shorter was because of the problems the cast was having! Oh and I dont remember a video of the main actress saying sl was cancelled because of Bia

Violetta 🔜 Kally's Mashup 🔜 Bia 🔜 Club 57 (I havent watched Go yet and even tho I watched almost two seasons of Soy Luna, I stopped watching it because I didnt like it that much, I think the only reason I was watching it was because of my sister but I never got hooked on the story, really dont know why and then season two went on a break and I forgot to continue watching it, probably thats when I realized that I wasnt invested in the story lol)
Anyway, I just want to share that I grew up watching these type of teen telenovelas, so I'm used to this genre I guess and there are so many other teen telenovelas that I would love for you to watch but I guess is kinda impossible because some of them are old and most of them dont even have english subs and probably never will 😔
So yeah Violetta is the OG from disney and it prepared the way for the next teen telenovelas/tv shows to come on this channel, there were also others that started it all and actually prepared the way in general for the rest to continue.
I also have to mentioned that nickelodeon has been doing a good job with their telenovelas and even tho they have things that are similar to the disney ones they also have different things, like the stories and plots are very different from each other and they explore other genres, like fantasy and sci-fi like Grachi, 11-11, Chica Vampiro, Yo soy Franky, club 57 and with them that is the main thing and music just so happens to be part of it, while disney is not exploring others things and continues with the same formula of an average teen girl going through the different things every girl goes and lives, like falling in love for the first time, friendship, finding herself and all the drama that sometimes comes with this. The only one I remember that had something different while also having all of the things I mentioned before was Supertorpe, which was about a.girl that had powers and was trying to become a superhero, I loved it btw And dont get me wrong, I'm not saying this formula is bad, but lately disney is been doing it for a while now, it's the third time with Bia, and even tho I like Bia, well I'm still hoping for something a little different, like nickelodeon is doing it!
Pd: I also have to say, refering to Bia, that I like what they're doing there with the villain, because Carmín, who we thought was the villain is not, or it looked like she was at first but she's not, is someone else and I like this plot twist in the story because is something different from what they have been doing!

The thing with Violetta is it starts off really slow and boring so it's hard to get new people to watch it. Once she starts going to the Studio as a normal student it gets more interesting. Season 2 is so entertaining to me.

Episode 1: Luna and Sharon both think that the other looks kind of familiar and Luna feels weird when she enters The Benson Mansion.
Episode 2: Miguel sees a picture of a young couple and thinks there is something familiar about it. The maid Amanda tells him that the woman on the picture is Sharon’s sister who died years ago. Meanwhile at an Retirement Home an old man named Roberto remembers how he saved Luna from a fire at the Benson Mansion, and at the end of the episode he tells his caretakers who have the IQ of a door knob that the aunt of the girl is named Sharon Benson.
Episode 3: Roberto says that Sharon was in love with Bernie the husband of her sister Lili Lili and Bernie had a daughter named Sol who is the actual heiress of the Benson Fortune but Sharon thinks that Sol is dead while she’s actually alive and is right now Skating on the Rink.
i love go! it’s so good and i have a fan account for pili but also karol. that said thing about go is that it’s a netflix original and netflix originals have very little amount of episodes in the seasons and barely any seasons
lupe singing the theam on the first episode symbolizes how she was kind of like the boss and the best befor mia got there and now that mia is there they have a theme song including mia and also a lot of other characters

I think this is definitely more of a personal taste thing because go is one of my favorites out of all of these. I recently started watching soy Luna and I like it a lot but a lot of these shows take so long to get the plot rolling. I like that go brings you into the plot and drama quicker I do agree that it’s a lot though and I could see why someone wouldn’t like the amount of drama it has. In my opinion go has some of the best music though and like your friend said great cinematography.

You should really watch Casi Ángeles, Rebelde, Aliados, anything by Cris Morena, she's a genius ❤️. They're so different from what you're used to with the Disney telenovelas, but, personally, I think they're so much better. Although I don't think they have subtitles, at least not all of them, I'm pretty sure Rebelde does (the mexican version), it's more dramatic and plastic (?) than the original, but it is basically the same plot.
Rebelde is my favorite telenovela, and I like Soy Luna too.

Floricienta is the best telenovela ever 🖤 it was the first telenovela Disney channel aired in Latin America and because of its success I think they decided to start doing their own telenovelas. You should totally give it a try, the episodes are already on RUclips although I’m not sure if they’re subtitled. But seriously, give it a try! 🌸
