Could you use tin foil to make patterns?
Certain you’ve thought of this but is the 59 chev on the same trunk pattern, if you’re missing stuff?
Anybody that can take a flat piece of metal and use a stump, a vise, a trailer hitch ball and a ball peen hammer and make an intricate panel out of it is talented in my book ! I love it when you show us how you make panels. I have learned a lot watching you make panels and the Boogie Van paint job still blows me away.
Yes, metalforming is the main highlight here IMHO
and lets not forget Jim's Lincoln quarter panel :}
@@SlingshotgixxerI’m curious how Jim’s Continental is doing!
A couple years ago I made some patch panels with compound curves for a Jeep transmission tunnel, using Scott's methods which I learned from watching CWM... they turned out great, even better than I'd expected! I watch this channel for entertainment but I've learned a lot of things as well. Thank you Scott and crew! 🤙
Too bad he doesn’t know that a leather sand/shot bag & blocking hammer is the go
“Whatever. Nobody watches this shit, anyway”. Another CWM quote for the ages. .
I really enjoy supervisor Tom's input... what an asset to have him hanging around.
Tom Rocks 😂😂😂❤❤!!!!
And when Tom's around there's no swearing.
The humor. Watching you pound flatstock on a trailer ball is how we do things. This is the real car hobby, the way it was done. Dear old dad was a hot rodder in the 1950s. Guys made stuff by hand with what they had. Pounding on rusty crap on a bench vise because you cannot buy it. Walk into a part store and ask for Hudson parts. Nope. Pound, drill, weld, improvise. Drive. This is the real car hobby for real people.
I do not understand why Scott doesn't have a million subscribers. We can watch car repair channels that have $100,000 budgets with all the latest high dollar repair equipment and while it's fun to watch, none of us have money for that type of equipment. All of us are on a budget and Scott shows us how to accomplish tasks on a budget. To me that is way more helpful than watching Robbie Layton fabricate metal with elaborate tools that I will never be able to own. But I have a stump of wood, a vise and a trailer ball and I could "attempt" to do something like Scott did. The magic is on his head and hands for sure but he plants the seed that we can take and attempt our own projects. It take years to get proficient on metal work like Scott is but this channel gets great results on a budget and it's attainable for all of us watching to do what Scott does with practice. In my opinion this channel is way more valuable to an old guy like me than watching a sponsored channel with state of the art tools and methods that I will never have access to. There isn't a better channel on You Tube. There might not be millions of us watching but by damn we are a loyal bunch of subscribers. Thank you Scott.
I like Tom. Without Tom nothing gets done. Good bunch of buddies the whole gang is.
The true meaning of camaraderie 😅
Tom: “Have you got a garbage can big enough to fit this piece?” Priceless!!
Tom makes a great helper. His laugh and use of cuss words makes for an enjoyable video.
Remember, no fucking swearing, that would be rude. Cheers from Ottawa.
Swearing? There will be no fucking swearing guys! Cheers from Perth, Oz.
9 wheezin' chortles by Tom today (including a 3-peat and the "SOS" epilogue) is a nice count for a short video. He floated in and out like a zephyr on a summer breeze, leaving us wanting more.
On a serious note, as a recent pensioner with several 4-wheeled dependents, I would like to thank all the generous Patreons (in the name of all the fans watching our nickels and dimes) for supporting this glorious enterprise so Scott can splice cars & postings for us. Bravo to all!
Y'all probably know this, but letting the videos run until the end really helps the Al Gore rhythms. Maybe we can get him to 70K
No, I did not 😮.
I made sure to watch till the end.
Thanks for the info 🫡.
Scott, your skills always astound me!!!
Cheers to everyone from Montreal!
What Al Gore has never had is rhythm! But Scott should have had 100+ thou years ago! Sign up people!
@@willydavid
I read it, I commented, I didn't even notice that! 😂😂😂.
Thanks!!!
I’m at the stage of my career where I think I can adopt Tom’s management style. See you Saturday!
Scott, watching you turn a flat piece of sheet metal into something practicality four dimensional blows my mind! Good to see Tom lending moral (?) support.
I've been patiently waiting for the next installment in this build. Scott, your major build projects seem to come at just the right time. The Fury build was when I was recovering from spinal surgery and this one is happening when I am going through heart issues. They are a perfectly timed blessing for me.
I hope you heal allot quicker than the Biscala does.
@@bryduhbikeguy Thank you. I am hoping I at least get a little better than I currently am.
Todd enjoy, I know what you are going through is no fun . I have been there . I wish you a speedy and complete recovery .
@@dannyplanck6498 thank you
LOL Just to make sure you weren't slackin' ! Tom's sense of humor is the BEST!
I like watching Scott interact with Tom…Canadian respect for elders which has disappeared in the lower 48.
You said nobody watches. I like to watch you do your metal magic. An added plus Tom was busting your ⚾️ . Looking forward to seeing more of the SOS. ❤️😎✌️👍 Cheers Scott.
"Was filming the floor the whole time. "Whatever, no one watches this shit" BWAAAA
The metal work is fascinating. Scott you make something that can be very difficult look quite easy.
I watch every minute of Scotts insane metal work! 💪👌
The paper template I can do, it's getting the sheet metal to cooperate is the problem!😆
Scott, I'm glad Tom stopped by to save the Day again 😅😅😅
Looking Good.
Thanks Scott for another good video on fab up another panel i like watching this kind of work it gives me an idea on how to fix things without buying panels i celebrated my 61st birthday today see everyone Saturday.😊👍✌❤
Oh a youngster 🤭
Happy Birthday James !!
Great "Chunk of Trunk", Scott. :)
Love your work!!,,love your buddy,s!!,,comical and fun!!,, can't wait to see the Biscala going down the road!!,,cheers coldwarmotorz!!
“What ever nobody watches this stuff”, to funny. Great video Foreman and Scott working together.
It's Cool you guys worked together. I can't imagine what it's going to take do the other one?! Can't even think what it would take to do the other one let alone to think what It's going to finish the whole trunk> Looking forward to what it's going to turnout! Another one saved, Thanks, Neat and Thumbs Up Guys, Going to be Sweet, I know It!!!...
Scott you are a inspiration, you make me do stuff, thanks for that.
Thanks Scott !!!!!!!!
I know I have said this several times before but your metal work continues to impress more every time
I see you build something. regards from Ody Slim
You sir are a living legend . Really looking forward to this restoration. Superb workmanship as usual 👌 👏 👍
"You're a better man than I Gunga Din!"
Scott, love that silly walk shirt. If you know, you know.
Cheers from Wisconsin
Watching someone like yourself take a flat piece of sheetmetal and with some hammering and bending in a vice makes it look like it just came out of the press shop a Chevvy never ceases to amaze me, pure magic.
And just like that there it is!
Frankers !!!!!!
Splicing Treasure ,
The Heat is on !!!!!!!
Tom Busting Balls !!!!!!!
Loving the John Cleese t shirt!
The primer might have been a bit tacky, but the repairs are always in the best of taste!
Scott don't forget the factory jack and factory hold-downs for the new floor.
Ministry of Silly Walks.
Oh yeah! I forgot that it is Thursday. 👍😁
Oh Scott, we do too! HaHa! See you Saturday Buddy! Cheers. Todd the retired trucker.
I'm always amazed how you can take a rusty POS, make a pattern, then turn a hunk of sheet metal into a matching part. It's like watching a wizard with his magic.
I can't tell you how comforting it was to watch a new midweek episode after getting f*cked in every hole by hurricane Beryl. It was definitely worth the battery usage!! Cheers Scott
Looks. Great. You. Done this. Before. ❤❤❤❤❤
When an experienced tradesman comes over to watch you work it says something about your workmanship. I love watching you do the metal work, it's pretty darn cool! Thank you Scott and Tom for sharing!!
Tom gives the whole operation direction.
Without him it would soon fall into chaos.
Great work Scott.
When Tom appears, we're guaranteed a subscriber friendly rather than family friendly episode 😉 Watching this splice taking shape with the help of the stump is a refreshing change to those that use tools beyond the scope of the majority of people 👍
I am constantly impressed by Scott's skills. Tom is the neighbor that I would love to have, he is a good soul
Great that Tom comes to supervise and make sure there is No Swearing. Thanks for the show.
I don't know if it's the right idea, but I have an idea.
When you've got supportive help like Tom come by with encouraging words during metal forming projects; You just can't ask fir much more. "You got a garbage can big enough to fit that in?" 😆😆 Nice work Scott , making it look easy.👌🏻
Scott knows he's doing good if Tom's busting his chops! 🤣
Some of the old cars that I have worked on have the trunk floor in 3 pieces. The middle section, and they call it them trunk extensions. They are the sections on the side of the trunk floor from the wheel tub to the panel on the back of the car. So far the pieces you've made look good.
Man versus Sheet Steel - Currently on ColdWarMotors! With cameos from Tom and Frankers! Product placement "LOG" from "BLAMMO!"
I still know the entire song lol.
I got to say You have a Great bunch of Friends There ! And You do some nice hand forming on the metal panels !
Just cherish having your buddies around , they are what keeps you going . Sure Miss my car friends that we helped each other out! And Your doing a Great Job putting that one back together !
Woohoo!
I have been knocking tin for 34 ish years i always like the little tricks you can pick up from watching Scott and the other agents bravo 👏 Cheers
My Dad and I watch this shit religiously, it's our favorite show!
Around here, I reckon we’d call you a master metal worker! L O L
Love watching you fabracobble bits together! I’ve learnt heaps from both you and Kyle! Keep posting bits like this! It’s great when the car is finished to be reminded of what went into the restoration! 👍🏼
Loving the Monty Python shirt!
How to walk like a Looney!
Tom's in good shape for his age ! 👍
Makes a repair panel with not much more than a hammer and a stump. You're awesome Scott!
Always impressive to see the metal work from beginning to end. The final product is sweet!
I think the piece came out right is because the Forman had his tongue out the right way. Such concentration holding the handle out of the way of the amateur. You make them adjustments look so easy Scott. That is still pure magic.
Gotta love the bring-your-own-floorpan cars.
Nice to have a neighbor like Tom. Good company.
Quite a lot of us enjoy watching this sh!t. Love the Thursday short films, it means I only have two days to wait for the main event.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome job on those panels. It's fantastic to see someone who has the skills to hand make panels like this. I'm a panel beater in Australia and no one nowadays knows how to fabric panels. Awesome work 👍
Excellent work, you fabrication is outstanding, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Harder than the Mark 6 Lincoln you hammered on for some long long time. This is nice tho that you have a open trunk bottom to refer to. Being there in person allows you to see curves and from prior experience of melding metal makes a large difference in outcome. Just seeing it come together piece by piece is enough to help you gain some confidence in its outcome........... Great work Scott. I honestly think Canadian men see stuff like this clearer than say many other shops in our country. Good body men are really in short supply. Doing it in sections yet large enough to keep it from looking like a welders nightmare...
I’m a “nobody” that loves watching this shit. Awesome content Scott and Tom.
Thank God the foreman stopped by! Have to make sure nobody's lollygaging 😃
As always, I could watch your metal working abilities all day long and am astounded by your intuition related to such. I’m enjoying this as much as the Plymouth. I’ll never forget you wrestling those, rear finned, quarters into shape!
Thank you for holding that handle up Tom. That was some smooth panel production cant beat that right? Im so glad these two cars get to be this car.
The Metalworking Ministry of Silly Walks!
The Maestro Of Metal is at it again ! Tom’s a riot !😂
Love watching you form sheet metal
Tom laughing like "I totally see what you're doing..NOT" is exactly how I feel watching the start of the panel beating. None of it makes sense until its done and i'm like wtf
Those trunk pans were always notorious for rusting out, even in dry climates. Most guys just glob them with fiberglass. Glad you are doing it right! I learned about the fiberglass gag after the gas tank of my "minty rust -free" $700 Impala dropped out when leaving the filling station.
You’re very modest, I don’t care what you say, you are a skilful tin basher and it is a pleasure to watch!
Yeah! Scott bashin' tin showing off the guns! Always an interesting show seeing the shapes you can make. Great result and perfect cut to Tom at the end!
Love watching you make the impossible
I always enjoy the fine programming on your channel, and to see Miss Franker's is ALWAYS a plus for me!!!!! I am amazed at your fabrication skills when creating replacement panels that do not exist, straightening dented chrome / stainless trim pieces, just to mention a few. Then, there's TOM!! Tom is always available with more knowledge and skills that are there for yours and our benefit. Then there's Dean and all of the agents that also add to the collective knowledge of information. YES, I was this 5454 Scott!! (I heard that). Tom, how the heck are you doing? Franker's, you and Scott stay cool!!!
Great video Scott . You’re excellent on getting this old Iron shaped and fixed up. Thank you for sharing. 💕💯👊👍
I love "watchin this shit!:" I only discovered CWM a year ago and have been looking at some of the old videos. I learn a lot from these videos. (full disclosure: I won't be splicing to classic cars together anytime soon or ever but it is so fun to watch you take two rusty beat up cars and turn them into a beautiful masterpiece. The 60' Fury is awesome! Can't wait to see how the Biscala turns out. P.S. I never miss an episode and Kudos to Tom for keeping all you fellas in line!
You just don't see many people doing this stuff from scratch. My hats off to ya Scott. Plus the bonus of Tom supervising, his commentary is a hoot. Cheers!
Oh, one more thing every shop has an old fella like Tom, just full of knowledge. Scott, you have Tom. I have Charlie, and let me tell you, Charlie is the state's version of Tom. What a treat as you say. I love the show. I can't wait for the next video. Cheers
that is coming along nicely! looking forward to getting that shirt in the mail
The way you bend and shape metal panels ….amazing!
Hi Scott polite suggestion for the super8.If you film with your modern camera at the same time, and film someone doing a hand clap that will show as a spike in the sound track in your editing suit, so when you digitise the super8 you can coordinate sound and make super8 talkies how cool would that be.
Does he actually film or is it an effect?
@@DontCryAboutIt He showed us the camera so I guess its real.
@@harrybluemaxAnd if I remember correctly, in the last couple of videos he said that it costs like one dollar a second to get the film developed.
Nice piece of metalwork Scott, you couldn't get it done without Tom helping.
👍👍🇨🇦
Can't have junk in the truck unless it's there! Looking good.
I like all the tappy tap stuff Scott!
And the levitating hammer at 12:49 😂🤣
The Splice-A-Thon is ripping along! Another complex piece done and dusted with style!
Always love watching You work metal Scott. I build Wind Tunnels for a living and work in metal fiberglass. I can still learn things watching You. The trunk floor is pretty straight forward & still worth seeing to Me. Great conten for a fab Guy to digest. 👍Cheer's.
Ground control to Major Tom - No swearing!!! 😂
Loving the Biscala build already 👍
Looking forward to adding the '37 shirt to my expanding 'Cold Wardrobe' 😉
I like how you create that metal as you see the shape awesome video thank you
Have to take my hats off tho you guys. Tackling projects like this is pretty amazing. I admire your collective can-do-it attitude.
