I think what makes this song work especially is the stark contrast between and Xander and Scott's voices. Xander's is so shrill and harsh, getting the maliciouness of the Chancellor spot-on. Whereas Scott's voice is higher and smoother, almost holy. You can still sense his urgency to convince the court that Crono's innocent, but he keeps his composure, whereas the Chancellor lashes out to maintain the court's attention. The two of you did a good job, your voices oddly work well together, despite the differences :D

Xander nails the Disney villain vibe perfectly, and Melodiva’s art captures the somber atmosphere of the court, especially in the way the light of the window oppressively shines against Crono.
Xander sounding like a Disney villain is so cool and Scott's gentle pleading tone is amazing! The power of the chorus as well as the art is so powerful too! Diva, your art is so pretty and shiny ;u;
I find funny the contrast with the previous song in order : We went from a relaxing and lovely duet on ``Memories of the green´´ to a song involving a person with a Disney villain voice .
When you say disney I can only think of rabbit from whinne the pooh or Merlin from sword in the stone

Anyways, I love this piece. With Xander's classic Disney Villain voice and Scott's more defensive and softer hero type voice really make the difference between them. Also, love the art so much Melodiva!!!! Really sells out the court!!

-whispers- Look ma, it's my art debut!! Thank you Juno and Steel for your guidance on that large courtroom picture. I have so much to learn but I'm so grateful to be a part of this project now as an artist as well. The Trial has always been one of my favorite scenes (it's so memorable with the aesthetic), and I love the almost baroque-like feel to the song. Xander and Scott really just knocked it out of the park.

I’m loving Xander’s voice for the chancellor, the chorus is beautiful, and the art is stunning! I think this is one of my favourites so far!
going back from this and then listening to "chrono trigger" is such a mood jump.
chrono looks so hurt and distraught in this art, and you can see it in "underground sewers" as well, where he STILL wants to go home and properly defend himself, but in "chrono trigger" it's truly a titular song. it's where his story truly begins, and the hero in him awakens.
Little known fact, Scott's singing voice is actually one of my favorites in the crew (everyone sounds amazing obviously, but there's just something about Scott), so this is a whole Blessing to my ears.
And of course, Alex Rybitski and his Mighty Debut in CTTM!!!! I have been awaiting this moment!! Everyone killed it, but you straight up MURDERED it holy shit you sounded amazing.
And the ART!!!!!!! The art was absolutely magnificent and I was shook™ the entire song.
Anyway, this was a masterpiece and I love it so much God bless

And honestly this is a great fit for your artstyle in general, with the stained glass window, the spotlights on Crono at the defendant's stand and the stark emotional back lighting. My absolute favorite piece is the side view of the courtroom, where we can see the wonderfully lit judges podium, the colors from the stained glass window playing across the floor.. The close ups are great too, I love your design for the chancellor (and the pose too, it matches it up perfectly with Xander's expressive acting, I could totally imagine him using those sweeping motions as he stalked around the courtroom.) The shot of Crono bound and gagged is heart wrenching, and how it zooms in with the music in the end, before it settles on the final shot of him nearly in tears. Nooo Crono. It'll be ok I swear ;w; I didn't expect him to be bound and gagged though XD I suppose it makes sense with how uh...one-sided everything else is.
This scene is one of the ones I always remember from the game. It came out of nowhere, and then threw all your previous inconsequential actions in your face. If you play RPGs you probably did all those things because it's...literally what you *do*. You click everything. You interact with everything. Even if that means eating some random lunch sitting out on a table. I was wondering how you guys would handle this, since we probably won't see a lot of the fair itself, tho I suppose that could fit in Marle's introduction song (#2 after peaceful days perhaps?) The flashbacks were a nice touch, and the lyrics were surprisingly effective for the amount of dialogue you need to get through. The chancellor (as mentioned earlier) is great, expressive and totally a showman, riling up the courtroom as he convinces the jury (hi chorus you guys are always lovely) of Crono's guilt. Scott's Pierre is a great contrast to that with his sincerity, and you can feel how much he wants to stop this from happening, but he keeps getting muscled out of the way by the more sensational chancellor. The juxtaposition of the two different voices and characters only add to the impact of the song. This is another great addition to some already phenominal songs. I can't wait to see next week's.

José Luis Ramos yes but why expressly and only zero in in a detail with the intention of relating it to undertale? Chrono trigger is a great game in its own right, and should be considered as such. This isn't even an Easter egg like the sans balloon or flowey. It's literally a detail that is *part of the game* and has been for decades.
Woah, Mel, your art is GORGEOUS as always! The stained glass window leading to all that awesome lighting? Clearly this song and your art are a match made in heaven. I can see the fear in Crono's eyes, realizing what a mess he's in, with no way out... And wow, when I heard Xander would be playing the Chancellor, I expected a much more, well, high pitched screechy voice. This is the exact opposite, and much better than I imagined! I love this take on the character! Scott definitely sounds just like how I've imagined Pierre ^^ Pleasant and pleading, trying to show the good in Crono. If I was in the Jury, simply the difference in tones would drive me towards his side of the Trial. Anywaaaay, I guess I'll be leaving a comment each week from now on. I've actually been watching since Your Best Nightmare in UTM was released, haha. But now it is finally time to express my love for the things you're creating.

I am really impressed with Xander's rendition of the Chancellor! So well done to mix that harsh, shrill tone of the villain with the actual musical skill of proper singing notes. :)
I love this part of the game, too, by the way. There were so many things a first-time player did in the millennial fair, never having been able to expect that they would come back to reflect on their character here! I wonder how many player like me found themselves desperately pleading to the television screen: "No! I didn't know it was someone's food! I didn't mean to steal it! It was a MISTAKE!!"

Y'all did a great job on this one. Mel's beautiful art transforms this scene in front of our eyes, and the pain and anguish on Crono's face was so real and heartwrenching I wanted so badly to stop the trial. The lighting from the stained-glass windows was handled perfectly, lending this scene a legendary feeling for what seems to be an important moment- I wouldn't know; haven't played the game. Excellent work Mel: kudos!
Chorus was amazing, as usual. Scott's soft and hesitant voice perfectly compliments the scene, and gives way astoundingly well for Xander to come in and take control of the scene. Damn you and your excellent villain voice Xander!
This has always been one of my favorite songs from this game. I'm quite happy to say that applies to this musical as well! Xander's harsh tone contrasted with Scott's soothing tone is just so perfect!

I *love* how Le Scoot's voice is so gentle when butting in to plead on Chrono's behalf. It really fits well with the whole song and just... the contrast in comparison to Xander's role as the Chancellor was *perfect.*

This song is such a unique song and how it perfectly walks the line between comedic and oppressive, and at 0:58 the song doubles down on that by altering the balance just enough to lean into the dramatic part more to make you really worry.
I just love how you made the lyrics follow this transition as well! In the first half of the song, the Chancellor boasts pompously and somewhat formally about how he believes Chrono is guilty, but at 0:58 he comes back now with a newfound vigor, fully blaming Chrono and casting his claims as fact, all while looking down upon him as a criminal to be judged. The lyrics and song shifts from worrying but somewhat comedic, to genuinely unsettling and oppressive.
I love how the courtroom sounds more like a forbidding cathedral. The Chancellor sounds sinister, like Jafar from Aladdin.

Wow... Just, wow! I feel as though I must whisper so as not to interrupt the trial. But, Xander and Scott: I cannot even begin to describe how breath-taking your performances were. Xander, your lower register is incredibly powerful. While Scott, your voice in this is, to quote Gaston Leroux, "irresistibly triumphant." You two have an incredible back-and-forth that made me want to keep this track on loop.
Now, I feel I must say that I know precious little about Chrono Trigger. But, this musical makes me want to track down a copy of the game! Well done, MotI crew, Scott, Xander!

Listening to this one, it honestly sounds and feels like it could have been made for a good, honest stage play. The instruments, the mixing, the vocals, the lyrics, freaking everything feels like an actual stage musical. Amazing job, everyone.

I love this thing so much, and I honest,y could not guess for the life of me that that was Xander singing. Like, I guessed right away that that was Scott (wonderful job, by the way) and just loved the way that your voices fit your roles perfectly. And the art fit it perfectly, like, especially at the end and Xander's character!/ matter of factory pose, like, this has to be one of my most favorite songs in this. And, the chorus! Let's not forget that. The chorus was perfect whenever it came in, and the ominous and threatening "Liar" was just so on point that I can't stop smiling at this. I love this one so much.

Well, as I recall, if you try to pull away while she is selecting a candy, that _does_ actually come up in the trial showing that you were forceful with her. There are _lots_ of fun little things where your conduct in the faire comes up in the trial! :)

Wow, those voices were spot on. I felt like I was watching the Prince of Egypt with those sinister magicians lol. I have two minor criticisms. 1. In the song at :41 "Or leave him to rot and hang." rot and hang vs hang and rot. Every time I listen to this part I keep thinking it should have been "hand and rot" instead. I am not exactly sure why I feel this would technically sound better, but if you guys could give me a good reason, It will lay my spirit to rest in this case. 2. Visual composition. We see Crono standing there on trial. It took me until the 2nd zoom in to realize that he was gagged and unable to speak for himself. At first this was very forgivable because the artist chose a very light color for the gag itself which means it was already going to be hidden in the light. This tells me this may have actually been what the artist was going for. But in case if it wasn't, why not make the blindfold black? It would still be "lightened up" by the spotlight, but it would have been obvious from the beginning why the trial was unfair and why Crono was not defending himself at all.
"Rot" doesn't rhyme with "game"
Hello, artist here! Actually, I quite liked the idea of the audience being a bit shocked that he was bound and gagged at the end (because my initial response was the very same.) The picture doesn't even first appear until the last half of the song and it only gives a small sliver of time for the audience to be like "wait is he gagged?" until the picture finally pops up again at the end for the actual zoom in.Throughout the song you might wonder why Chrono isn't speaking up (since he can sing and talk in this musical) and then you find that he's actually been bound and gagged for this entire slander and harsh trial. Hope that helps!

Ooh! I was hoping this would be a song! I guess it's kind of a given that it would be seeing as this moment is kind of vital to the plot. Would Crono and the others have had any further motivation to travel through time again, land in the future, and discover Lavos exists and is a planet killer if it hadn't been for this whole debacle? I think not! Crono would have just gone back home and lived out his life. Marle would have probably been married off to some noble whether she wanted to be or not because that's kind of what happens when you are a princess. Lucca would have continued to be brilliant and probably would have invented the first automobile or something equally world changing. Lucca and Crono would continue their sibling-esque relationship possibly even for the rest of their lives. ...And the future would remain unchanged. So, thank you, Chancellor, for being so unreasonably jerkish! Your actions led to the salvation of the world! ...Oh, and my reasons for referring to the Chancellor in such a way is because EVERY TIME I've played the game I've been declared innocent in a 4 to 1 vote...and ended up in prison anyways because the Chancellor's an ass. ....I may be holding a bit of a grudge... SO BORING STANDING THERE FOR 3 DAYS!!!!

Oh, I know. But I am NOT missing out on the Tech Points for Lucca! The more grinding I can get out of the way early on means the less I have to do later. My hunger for unlocking as many skills as I can in as little time as possible far overshadows my boredom for that brief period where nothing happens. Plus I like rescuing Fritz and getting free Ethers out of it. ...I just realize how horrible that sounds. Like I'm only rescuing the poor guy from having his head chopped off because I get free stuff if I do. I mean, I'm also doing it because his girlfriend is worried and reuniting them makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! The free stuff is a bonus!

Just discovered this whole thing after replaying the game and finally finishing it for the first time. Had a chance to sit down and listen to the whole thing. This song is by far my favorite. Really gets across what a dick that guy was.

Overall, nice job! I wonder if this will get reprised when the Chancellor tries to frame Guardia for "selling" the Rainbow Shell later on.
OH wow, this one is full of symbolism and I like the slight change in pierre's character to honestly trying to be competant (instead of kinda being sub par in the game. I didn't feel confident at all with him!) I really really like the art of crono in this. The gag there was pretty damn pointed, especially since you're making him speak in this musical as opposed to him being a silent protagonist. Now he's made to be silent, hoo boy.
Anyone else notice how Chrono just confidently strutted up to the podium?

(Trail goes as usual however Bediever has his sword taken from him...or they try to take it at least. You see. When Bediever tried to make his own Excalibur this also included the part on who is worthy to wield the sword. Making the blade act like a mix between Mjoinir and the sword of promised victory with a hint of the breath of the wild master sword and the royal sword of regel from fire emblem echoes.The thing is...he didn't even know that the enchantment was there in fact the only reason it's their is due to how much dedication put into the blade! Being blessed by the gods themselves with this enchantment and the enchantment of eternal life.)

Guard: lift it? How do you even walk with this in your sheath let alone lift or swing it!?
The sword then hits the ground with a floor shattering "THUD!" Leaving massive cracks within the stone floor)
Chancellor: what is this? (Snaps to get ten more guards but they fail to lift the blade as well.) WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?!......(looks at Bediever with a glare) you....boy...you lift the blade....(gives a evil smile thinking it's impossible)
Bediever: ok....(walks over to the blade now placed in the centre of the floor.Grabbing the Irish green helt.) here goes nothing.
Chancellor: indeed.(in head) except your head.
Bediever: (draws the blade skyward as the enchantment faintly glows green "Thou who are worthy of thy blade. Shall live eternally victorious and to thou who prove worthy cometh by thy command, the blade of true loyalty, Excalibur Chaldea." So it read in a ancient language along the blade. He then sheathed the sword and WALKED back to the defendants stand.)......? Why's everyone so surprised? It's as light as a feather to me.
