30 years ago I fell in love with a woman who was in an abusive relationship . She got away from her abuser , but then chose to go back. My heart was broken. 30 years later we are friends again. She told me yesterday she listened to this song on repeat daily while thinking of me. We wasted thirty years when we were the love of each others lives. If you love someone, don’t waste a second tell them you love them.

I saw Bonnie Raitt play live August 23, 2022 and I went from liking her, to being totally amazed by her. Her voice is so wonderful, and her ability to play to the crowd will amaze you. I say, if you ever get the chance to see her...GO.
This is for my father who died a couple years ago. He left me when I was 12, in 1976. It took 30 years later that I was able reconnect with him. Along with Randy Newman's 'old man', these two songs exemplify our relationship. I forgive him for leaving me, when I needed him most, but will never forget his selfishness for doing so.
Bonnie Raitt is very special in this way, at least in my opinion: her vocal performance is consistently nearly perfect, yet her enunciation is very warm and ordinary and down to earth.
These things together make for magic.

This song by Bonnie Raitt is a lovely art piece, and if I may, I would put in this same setting the songs, "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" and, "Both Sides Now" both of which were born in the turbulent 1960's era and which today are as meaningful and fresh as they day the were first sung. But, this song by Bonnie will bring a well of tears to anyone who has loved another passionately settling on one's very being as mist on leaves. Thank you for your comment. @@VG-hl1fl I wrote this 11 yrs ago ,I wasn't knocking her on talent just the overproduction & sexualisation ie if youve got the talent it will shine through without it. Since then,with hearing more of her songs & her having more artistic control I've became a genuine fan. So I hold my hands up, you are right & I am in the wrong, I made a judgement call too early which was unfair.Also thank you, for rightfully pulling me up on it.

When I was young I had the most beautiful girlfriend, but after a car accident, which gave her a very serious concussion, we slowly drifted apart. later I heard she married and 30 years later I decided to look for her. Turns out she was widowed. Finally we met again. I remember that moment as well as the first moment I saw her in school. And as the song says, "I felt the beating of my heart". I play this song often as it brings it all back.
