This show is gonna change your brain chemistry I think about this show almost all the time
One of my biggest problems with the dub has been how much they alter and change the lines, even when it comes to some of the most iconic ones in the series, which leads to inconsistency when those lines are repeated later on in the series since the dub changed them originally it erases intentional call-backs in the dialogue. There's a famous instance where the dub for AoT creates a plot hole and if I remember correctly, the dub even references Shakespeare at one point which makes no sense for the worldbuilding.

A note on the sub/dub discussion: I have read/watched manga and anime in german and english sub/dub and what is noticeable is the poor translation of the english dub. Just an examp,e,
It makes a difference whether he says after handing over the arm "the day was lost we have nothing, your son died because of me, I sent all of them to their death" or "we've failed to achieve anything, because of my incompetence i've gotten soldiers killed for nothing and failed to learn the slightest thing about them"
One gives an indication of why they are going outside the walls and that they know nothing about the Titans, the other does not. And these little clues are extremely important in this series. Unfortunately, this runs through the entire English dub.
You can only compare the first episode sub from crunchyroll with the dub version, the differences are enormous.
(Depending on the subtitle provider this varies, Netflix simply has the dub version)
But in the end you should watch the series the way you enjoy it.
Attack on Titan is arguably the greatest anime of all time. It's a long journey, but you'll never disappointed.
Dub has the advantage of not requiring any reading. Sub has the advantage of better voice acting and a more "authentic" experience. I always lean sub, but its never one sided

Let's not act like this dub is a slouch. There are many great performances and even some that outperform the sub.

@@emmyjr1231 There's a reason why voice acting is a real work and that's because the actors had specific instructions by the mangaka/director himself. Look at the bts of attack on titan it's very interesting
Also, in the translate version there is a LOT of foreshadowing who aren't noticed.

Dub changes a lot of the script's meanings and context which later down the line appears to have had significant meaning or foreshadowing

Good list. I would've personally placed "No regrets" OVA after S2 and just before S3. Since we dive more into Levis backstory in Season 3

I would watch OVA Ilse's Notebook after episode 1 of season 2. Both have a similar 'thing' and episode 1 of season 2 is more impactful.

I subscribed to your channel because GOT reactions but you guys made me really happy with this one. The only thing I am wishing for right now is that I wish the entire squad from GOT reaction was here.
If they all scream, it's because the English voices are bad quality. In Japonese with subtitles, it's soooooo much better. Eren's voice in Japonsese is more accurate to his character, with much more layers of emotions. It's more deeper, the dialogues are better and closer to the accurate traduction. So i really advice you to watch in Japonese with subtitles because it's way better for feeling's appreciation, and for character's understanding. There are several dialogues in the English version where the traduction is very very bad.
I'm new here and I thank the algorithm for finding them, I will be another loyal viewer, and as many said it is advisable to watch the series in its original language, that will add something extra, I hope you enjoy the best animated series of all time.
A few important notes that I imagine others are saying as well:
Do not go to the next episode until you see “…to be continued”. There are often post credits scenes that continue what you just watched or lead directly into what is up next.
Avoid any and all spoilers in comments and media regarding attack on Titan. Don’t search for anything.
In terms of spoilers, do not watch the opening theme/credits for the second half of season three. If anything, just listen to the song.
Pay attention as best you can, if you feel the need to talk for more than a few seconds, just hit pause. It’s not uncommon for people to miss major details when they look away from the screen.
Subtitles or the dub, doesn’t really matter. As someone who knows zero Japanese, I do prefer reading the subtitles, but I’m also crazy. I have watched the dubbed version of the series multiple times And I think there is only one part where people unanimously agreed that the dubbed version is better.
Enjoy this series, it’s awesome. You’re going to be confused, angry, happy, all the emotions. Soak it in and enjoy this masterpiece.

14:30 he said "Im a soldier, i kill titans" as a way of saying "this is supposed to be my job". He wasnt talking literally.
Whether sub or dub, AoT is great. My recommendation is try watching AoT in Sub once your are done with Dub because the Japanese voice actor/actress does a really really good job.

Wow it’s so awesome to find a reaction to the dub! I’m sure you’ll be pressured by a million people to switch to sub but in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy this version!
If you value the acting so much, please switch to sub. The original voice cast IS the acting in this show. By watching in dub, you're throwing away a huge part of the experience. The dub also changes some of the writing itself, which makes some references and callbacks nonexistent or not fit anymore. You're basically watching the Terminator where Arnold Schwarzenegger sounds like PeeWee Herman.

I definitely do NOT want to be that guy, but for this anime specifically i think it would be much better if you watch it in Sub. The voice acting is in a whole different league and while i understand that reading the subs and watching the show at the same time can be taxing, i think it's a tax worth paying. You'll get used to it by the end of the Season and since this show improves on itself each season, you'll be much more comfortable with the subs experience later on when the show REALLY picks up. Loved the reaction, this is my personal favorite story of all time and i'm definitely going to follow your journey through it

Sub is 100% better. I have watched this show in Japanese, English and Latin Spanish, and original will always be better. It makes it more realistic and come on, Eren's titan form screams in English are way too cringe. You just can't compare Japanese and English. Maybe with Latin Spanish... but still, original is way superior in every aspect when you try to compare.

Putting aside the VA differences between sub v dub, the titan sounds undoubtedly better in the sub.
As someone who has watched both I can definitely say I preferred dub! I'm not much of an anime watcher, so dub felt the most comfortable to me. Plus comparing some scenes I feel like the dub VA's did amazing!
Damn that’s unfortunate, the acting in the sub is so good and AoT honestly has one of the worst dubs in modern anime. It is what it is though.

Dont feel preasured to watch it in sub if you already like it. When yoi dont know the difference, its an advantage. Once you go sub, the dub will stick out like a toothache.
people that like game of thrones and breaking bad like attack on titan, ova ilse book watched it after the first episode of season 2. People have said(me included) that they are annoying by the dub voice sound too dramatic, while the sub is more realistic.
This anime is the best drama anime exist so damn rollercoaster journey and i feel im with the story

If you really wanna enjoy Attack on Titan in a good way watch sub version which is the Japanese version with english subtitles not the dub version which is the english version. You will enjoy the intensity of this anime only in sub version
for me i like being able to just listen to them in english to understand what they say and their emotion i do understand the sub is good and all but thats just how i see it

the dub for s1 aint good at all and makes some of the scenes cringe with the dialogue because back in s1 US dubbing didn't take the anime as seriously, s2 onwards it's decent
your expectation for a great live actor in a show is understandable and very much like the anime fan's expectation for the great voice actor in anime. since you will be watching dub, it's unfortunate that this parallel will be missed. it's like watching a movie in 720p. you'll still enjoy it, just not in its full glory.
I recomend you to watch in Japanese.
One of the best shows ever. Dont let the elitist weebs try to push you into the sub if you dont want to. The AoT dub is excellent and a great way for English speakers to experience this incredible tale without spending more time looking at words than the beautiful animation. I cant wait to watch along (again) with you.
You’re going to get a lot of people want you to watch sub, but do whatever YOU want. I’ve watched the entire series in both sub and dub and I prefer the dub. It’s much more enjoyable not to have to read the screen. The dub actors are incredible as well! Have fun with this series! It’s the best work of fiction I’ve ever read/seen/watched. You’re in for a heck of a ride!

You need to switch to SUB , the eng translation is not accurate enough for this kind of show where almost everything that is said and shown is a hint or plays a significant role later
Dub version is the worst. you miss lot of context and pure voice acting done in the japanese version. no offense but dub version sucks.
Since you care about acting and emotions, go sub. You would have cried in the 1st episode, the dub just so dull
