People don't use that term in polite company; it is literally a slur. I know it's fiction, and you can't hurt muggle-born wizards' feelings, but come on.
Dudley wasn't exactly cunning or manipulative and didn't have any real aspirations or anything. He wasn't at all like a Slytherin, no ambition, nothing. He was just a dumb spoiled bully. If he were at Hogwarts, he would probably be Hufflepuff. He's too cowardly for Gryffindor but so is Pettigrew so you can make the argument for Gryffindor too, but he isn't showed to be wise smart creative cunning ambitious or ANYTHING from Ravenclaw or Slytherin. He doesn't fit well as a Gryffindor either, so he would likely be a Hufflepuff because they take everyone that isn't fitting with the others
Imagine if the prophecy actually referred to some random muggle. The power that Voldemort doesn't know or understand could just be algebra. Or an electrician licence. Prophecy doesn't say anything about Voldemort being AWARE he's marked his rival, could have scared the neighbours with debre after blasting a hole in the potters wall.
This question occurred to me just after I finished the 7th book. It was the most defining moment of the series for me. That's the whole point of the prophecy. It didn't matter which one he chose the story would have still ended the same way. It would have been a different story of course but at the end Neville would have prevailed. I have had soooo many discussions/arguments about this.Love your take on it!!
I believe that Voldemort didn't really choose Harry. He just got the opportunity to kill Harry first because of the traitor being made secret-keeper. I fully believe he'd have targeted Neville next. In fact, the Longbottom family's presence on Voldemort's list might be why Bellatrix & company attacked them, believing that they had some information where Voldemort was.
Alternate alternate universe is where Neville never leaves his house, never goes to school and just dies of old age with a bored, impatient and frankly tired Voldemort probably never knowing with all his death eaters dead and he just sits alone at Malfoy manor alone
I just got done watching an old video of theirs when I saw that this released IN THAT MINUTE. I have never been this early to any video before. This will probably also be a banger of a video as always
Thanks J and Ben for supporting and promoting the Trevor Project!! Their organization has saved my life, literally, and given me hope for a bright future.
I have always pondered about this "what if..." on multiple occasions. Glad you two are finally going to cover your take on it in detail. Can't wait for the rest of this series!
Ever since you guys started doing "what if..." videos I've dreamed that you'd cover this, and now I'm so excited to see how it goes. Thank you guys for all the work you put into these!
@@Lahzing First, prophecies aren't set in stone and need not be fulfilled. Dumbledore directly states that in his conversation with Harry after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Second, the prophecy couldn't have applied to Neville specifically because he couldn't have survived.
The content of the video circumvents that issue by skipping it entirely. Voldemort doesn't kill Neville or his parents because he can't find them. Instead of confronting the Longbottoms the way he does the Potters, thus losing his power, he simply chooses to go into hiding.
he might be murdered in the future without that safety magic from his parent dying out of love for him, but for now he hasn't been found at all in this theory so there's no reason for him to have died thus far
Harry does have some good questions. Im just starting this episode so hopefully the Super Carlin Brothers will cover some of this. The real problem with the idea of Neville being the chosen one isn't just who Voldermort chose. The reason Lily's sacrifice was so powerful, while James wasn't was because Lily had the option to live. In the books, it's revealed that Snape's love of Lily caused him to ask Voldermort to spare her, and since he was one of Voldermort's most trusted followers, Voldermort agreed. So he gave Lily a choice. James was always going to die. He didn't have the choice to live. No one was asking Voldermort to spare James. But Snape plead for Lily's life. So Voldermort told Lily to stand aside and let him kill her son. She didn’t. Thats why her sacrifice protects Harry but James's sacrifice doesn't. So with that knowledge, someone would have to plead for the life of Neville's mom, or else, she's just killed with no choice to live, so her love wouldn't protect Neville. Excited to see where this alt timeline will go.
these long video series like the Harry in Slytherin ones are the most exciting ones to me. A few people have suggested what if Dudley went to Hogwarts, and I think that would be a great video series. Or a what if Snape never gave Voldemort the prophecy?
What about the Malfoys? The Weasleys? Tom Riddle's Diary? Ron? Hermione? Dean? Seamus? Fred and George? Percy? Ginny? Is the Sorcerer's Stone not destroyed, much less transferred from Gringotts to Hogwarts itself? The Basilisk? The Sword Of Gryffindor? Would this version of Harry have a different personality, more akin to Sirius, Remus, or his here-deceased father James?
This is such a neat movement activity. I’ll be walking ALL OVER a festival for a week in July, it’ll be the perfect opportunity to track how much walking I actually do there. 💗
Aaahhh! I'm so excited for this series! It was fun seeing how things would've been different if Harry was in Slytherin, so I can't wait how things will change with Neville as the chosen one.
This made me thing why Augusta was extra protective of Neville, aside from what happened to Frank and Alice. Like, she was too scared to let Neville out of her sight in fear of Voldemort finding him. :o Makes you see why he was raised that way.
Hey Super Bros, could you maybe do a theory video on what might have happened in the event that Harry, Hermione and Ron disapparated from their tent when the snatchers were summoned to them? Them letting themselves get caught was a super big plot point.
It’s finally happened!! The theory that I have been waiting for for so long!!!! I honestly can’t believe they’ve never done it! I’m so happy that they finally have!!
I agree most of the wizarding world would believe voldemort was gone but dumbledore definitely wouldn't. Remember when voldemort was defeated the first time around he made a whole plan for harrys life so that harry would kill voldemort for good when he came back. So I think Neville would have a lot of security when he went to Hogwarts, something like what harry had in the battle of the 7 potters. Also, I'm pretty sure Barty Crouch senior would be the minister for magic in this case, as in the og story he was disgraced when his son went to azkaban, but that wouldn't happen this time around.
Thank you so much for starting this what-if story. It's a great what if question and am highly interested in it. Congratulations on deciding to start this huge one. I am certain you guys can definitely do it over long enough period of time.
I legit would be curious if a movie, book or something (any genre not just Potter) revealed the Chosen One wasnt actually the Chosen One. That would be a twist.
I do not know where I should leave an suggestion for the next What if. If you eaven take suggestion but I would love to see "what if james survived?" because I think it would make for an interesting story that is very different from the main story.
Given the brothers' awesome 'Dumbledore's Plan' series, is it possible... I hate to even say it... that he wanted Harry marked to take advantage of Snape? That he only offered to be the secret keeper for the Longbottom family? It fits the Machiavellian image of Dumbledore. That he'd do whatever it took to ensure Voldemort's defeat.
well, neville could not have been the chosen one. Snape would never have asked for his mother to be spared, thus she would not have been given the choice by Voldemort, thus there would not be a sacrificial love protection, thus Neville would have been dead at the hands of voldemort. You would need to rewrite Snape's whole personality to even be able to ask this question. Or some new death eater with a dying love for one of neville's parents. Either way, i could never understand why people think thisis some real question
In the version nerville was never attacked as a baby, so it doesn't become relevant. He hasn't been attacked yet, nor has be becomes a horcrux, yet at least.
@@johnprice4847 Nothing changes. Neville goes to Hogwarts, while Voldemort just appears into hogwarts via some secret basilisk tunnel, and then on a nice evening he lures Neville into the depths and kills kills him. No protection, no witnesses and all around a clean kill
So the only way Voldy can think of to get around the fidelius charm is to wait ten years? And Neville (and his parents?) has to hide in his house for all that time? You may as well keep him in a cupboard under a staircase!
I do imagine harry would probably be a bit bore big headed but way more talented geowing up under sirius and doubly motivated seeing his insane mom. Oh boyyy i bet snape would visit lilly every week
Btw Harry is more of a Pureblood then Voldemort, seeing Harry mum is a Muggleborn witch and his dad is Pureblood wizard, but Voldemort dad is a Muggle and his mum Pureblood witch.
I remember commenting how excited I was for this what If back during the what if lupin wasn’t a werewolf video and I’m so happy that it’s finally come into existence!!!!
I always took it that Voldemort thought it was Harry because he was literally born on the last day of July. The day the "seventh month dies". I felt like that was why he chose him.
I ALWAYS thought a fitting end to the series would result in harry truly dying (making him the 2nd to last horcrux) and Neville killing both Nagini AND Voldemort - thus making him the TRUE Boy Who Lived, bookending the series in a beautiful and unexpected way.
The one and only time I’ll ask for an episode: How would the timeline change if Lucius Malfoy finished the casting of Avada Kedavra (Which was only in the movie) and Dobby died saving Potter then?
If Dumbledore was the secret keeper how did the Longbottoms get attacked in canon? Personally I would think that in that case maybe Dumbledore lifted the Fidelius after Voldemort’s defeat or the Longbottoms went out themselves. Maybe there are other possibilities?
I think the prophecy talks about them both. It mentions a birth twice. As though Trelawney saw Neville first, but then saw Harry at the end, because Harry was born second.
I think you´re right! - 1. The birth period of both guys was just like the prophecy said. "The Chosen one will be a boy that will be born as the 7th month dies." Neville was even EXACTLY one day OLDER than Harry (July 30. 1980 - July 31. 1980). - 2. Both boys´ parents suffered for their sons (Neville´s parents Alice and Frank are even still alive, but drove crazy ´cause of pain after getting the Cruciatus.). - 3. Maybe it was a sign that Neville did pretty bad at Hogwarts and later was a hero. - 4. Neville and Voldemort stood face to face while the battle of Hogwarts. Voldemort talked to Neville, wanted to make him being a Death Eater. Neville talked to Voldemort, proved his loyality to Harry and Hogwarts. This talking to eachother made them being equal. - 5. Seven horcruxes made Voldemort being inmortal. Neville killed the last one (Nagini) So: Voldemort was indirectly killed by Neville´s hand. Neville could stay alive ´cause of a life protection spell, said by Harry.
Problems: 1: All of what Sibyl says to describe, is a description it doesn't mean that it can be two people it just means that Dumbledore didn't know which is the right one, so if he'd attack Neville, eventually Voldemort would doubt himself and attack Harry marking him as his equal later on (aside from the point that Sibyl saw him attack Harry, so that's how she made the Prophecy to begin with). 2. James and Sirius were very close in power and if Sirius only lost to Bellatrix because he wasn't focused, you can be sure that James would be since its his wife and child on the line (and he would know then that Voldemort is after Neville not Harry so he wouldn't send Lily away or at least she wouldn't go away she would fight). 3. Dumbledore has Snape so that means he knows Voldemort is bidding his time.
Technically, he was, and he's also technically the one who kills voldermolt by killing the last horcrux. Even the author said it was a tossup between the two since they both fit the requirements
Confused on the Sirius couldn’t find them (with the house not being blown up) point as I was under the impression he knew where they were and had visited, he just couldn’t reveal the secret, but he could enter the house anyway
You mentioned that Sirius wouldn't be able to go to the Potter's because of the Fidelis charm, but why not? He certainly wouldn't be able to *tell* anyone about it's location, but he certainly could know it. Peter could have just told him.
I’ve been looking forward to this😃 I haven’t been this excited for a What If? story since your Harry sorted into Slytherin story. This What If? is gonna be amazing I can feel it.
About to watch the video, but just wanted to say this only works if Voldemort never shows up at their house. Lily was only able to give Harry that protection because Severus asked Voldemort to spare her, and he did try to probably as a reward for the intel. Voldemort didn't go in that room intending to kill her, he gave her the option, and she chose to die for her son. No one else would have received that chance.
What if James Survived? Like badly injured and unconscious but alive and Lily dies protecting Harry. How does he cope with her death, raising a chosen one, Peter's betrayal, harry's escapades in school etc? I imagine him and Sirius and Lupin trying to raise Harry well but also, James is frustrated by Dumbledore's interference in Harry's life, the prophecy and most importantly, how does he take the fact that Harry will have to die?
Before watching the vid, I think the main difference would be that Neville’s mom wouldn’t make the sacrifice that Lily made for Harry. This is for the fact that Snape requested Voldemort to spare Lily and that’s why the sacrifice was made. If it was Neville, Snape couldn’t care less so the sacrifice wouldn’t be the same.
This is an interesting what-if : What if Ginny forgot her diary which WAS Tom Riddle's Horcrux. In the chapter whomping willow, the weasleys and Harry run late and Ginny mentions about forgetting her diary. So it would be interesting to see what happens?
Other than Snape also bringing Harry along (he'd definitely just bring Lily but I still think that he'd tell Dumbledore where baby Harry was), this is spot on.
It's sad that some of movie-fans doesn't know that Neville could be a Chosen One too
Because he can not be. To be a chosen one, he would need to be attacked by Voldemort, but because Neville's mother could not sacrifice her life for that of Neville, because she will not be given the choice by Voldemort, because Snape would not beg for her, he would have no love protection, thus he would die. What is interesting is how the events of Chamber will be resolved. If Harry never became a horcrux, he's won't speak parseltongue. Even if Hermione figures out the baselisk based on all the other hints, no one will be able to open the chamber except Ginny (or whoever is unfortunate enough to get possessed in this version of the story).
@@CrackFoxJunior Wouldn't the chamber be opening year 1 instead? What's the friend group going to be, who will be the DADA teacher for this year and how will Voldemort go about opening the chamber this time? So many mysteries and ways to go, this series could be quite a banger
I’m pretty sure I called that they would do this over 7-8 parts lol
@@mellow3995 The chamber only opened because Lucius planted Riddle's diary on Ginny. Unless he plants the book on someone else a year prior for some reason, the chamber won't open until Harry's second year.
Super excited to see this one play out; that and "What if Dudley was a muggle-born" think of it, a Slytherin in the family, having to deal with any magic Big D does being blamed on that potter boy, Having Harry's achievements being credited to Dudley while they are on break, DUDLEY IS THE OTHER SCHOOL CHAMPION! (mainly cause i want to see Vernon and Petunia's reactions to each of the events. Vernon can tout Dudder's swimming abilities as "taught him that myself" and Petunia can criticize the hedge maze as "a poor excuse for an otherwise lovely hedge".
Edit: Grammar & Polite Internet Company
You're assuming that Dudley would be in Slytherin... Which I don't know, maybe but I he's just...
People don't use that term in polite company; it is literally a slur. I know it's fiction, and you can't hurt muggle-born wizards' feelings, but come on.
-taut- tout
How many muggle born slytherins do we know of? I don't think dudley would ever end up in slytherin just because of the fact he's muggle born
You always find the perfect spot to place Voldy’s laugh from the film.
Darn starting an awesome theory series right before I leave for the summer! I guess I get to enjoy the whole thing afterwards 😅 so excited!
So excited for more, I love the alternative story line videos
Alternate alternate universe is where Neville never leaves his house, never goes to school and just dies of old age with a bored, impatient and frankly tired Voldemort probably never knowing with all his death eaters dead and he just sits alone at Malfoy manor alone
Can we just appreciate the fact the good people at scb are making video fan fiction for our viewing pleasure
yeeeees I knew this was coming!!
I just got done watching an old video of theirs when I saw that this released IN THAT MINUTE. I have never been this early to any video before. This will probably also be a banger of a video as always
This has to to be the most requested what if
Can’t wait to see what happens next
If this is gonna become a whole series I am here for it. I love these What If videos.
I expect to see lots of fan art of book covers and movie posters for the Neville Longbottom series! Make it happen!
Thanks J and Ben for supporting and promoting the Trevor Project!! Their organization has saved my life, literally, and given me hope for a bright future.
dude that guys who's comments I always see asking for this is gonna be ecstatic
9:50 the way I almost started crying!!! Yes please this is all I’ve ever wanted to happen
I have always pondered about this "what if..." on multiple occasions. Glad you two are finally going to cover your take on it in detail. Can't wait for the rest of this series!
A week?! I saw that coming, but that doesn't make it any easier! So excited for this one. Thanks, brothers!
Ever since you guys started doing "what if..." videos I've dreamed that you'd cover this, and now I'm so excited to see how it goes. Thank you guys for all the work you put into these!
Hi J!
I hope this turns into a full series!
Neither Frank nor Alice would have been given the option of standing aside and saving theirselves, so Neville would have been murdered.
Somehow they have to. The prophecy must be fulfilled Nevil has to be marked as his equal and have power the dark lord knows not.
Sure right, because Grandmothers can't love their grandchildren enough to die protecting them.
I'VE BEEN WAITED FOR THIS ONE FOREVERRRRRRRRRR-
THANK YOU BROTHERS!!!!
In my head cannon because he was raised by Sirius, Harry has been spoiled and is fairly plump and/or has flowing locks just like his godfather.
I was so nervous this was going to be a one parter but I'm so happy it's a full on story! I love these!!!!
these long video series like the Harry in Slytherin ones are the most exciting ones to me. A few people have suggested what if Dudley went to Hogwarts, and I think that would be a great video series. Or a what if Snape never gave Voldemort the prophecy?
It happened! I couldn’t wait for this one!
You should do What If There was No Chosen one.
Either The Prophecy had never been heard by Dumbledore or It never existed at all.
Can’t wait for part 2!!
So excited for another 7-8 parter!
Still hoping you continue Scabious Snape's story tho
I want this to be a book series now, so I can read them.
This made me thing why Augusta was extra protective of Neville, aside from what happened to Frank and Alice. Like, she was too scared to let Neville out of her sight in fear of Voldemort finding him. :o Makes you see why he was raised that way.
Can’t wait to watch it love your guys videos keep doing what your doing ❤
This is something that ive been waiting to see discussed for so long
1:45
"What if he chosen differently?"
😂 I'm sorry J
#TeamJForever
Ohhh I saw a lot of people requesting this one! Can't wait :D
I have been waiting for this what if for a while now. Thank you for finally doing it. 😁
I’ve been waiting for this for a year and wow you guys delivered
Tell me you haven't watched the video without telling me you haven't watched the video
@@johnprice4847 Nothing changes. Neville goes to Hogwarts, while Voldemort just appears into hogwarts via some secret basilisk tunnel, and then on a nice evening he lures Neville into the depths and kills kills him. No protection, no witnesses and all around a clean kill
I often treat these as a podcast. Even their trivia episodes.
The second book would be called "Nevile Longbottom and getting stuck on a chandelier. "
Btw Harry is more of a Pureblood then Voldemort, seeing Harry mum is a Muggleborn witch and his dad is Pureblood wizard, but Voldemort dad is a Muggle and his mum Pureblood witch.
This should be a 7 parter
"Snape goes to Dumbledore for protection for Lily *long pause* and James and Harry." haha
A widowed Lily who has been driven to insanity? Those are the best odds Snape has ever had
💀
I ALWAYS thought a fitting end to the series would result in harry truly dying (making him the 2nd to last horcrux) and Neville killing both Nagini AND Voldemort - thus making him the TRUE Boy Who Lived, bookending the series in a beautiful and unexpected way.
This was very well written. Please do more parts.
Problems:
1: All of what Sibyl says to describe, is a description it doesn't mean that it can be two people it just means that Dumbledore didn't know which is the right one, so if he'd attack Neville, eventually Voldemort would doubt himself and attack Harry marking him as his equal later on (aside from the point that Sibyl saw him attack Harry, so that's how she made the Prophecy to begin with).
Tell me I ain’t the only one who noticed J say “moot point” and my mind was filled with Joey saying moo point 🤣
I always have the funny belief that Harry would actually be a great Slytherin. It’d be fun if that still applied here but, you know.
Question about the Fidelius charm, can house elves be secret-keepers? If so that would def be the wisest move, as long as you owned an elf of course.
I’ve been looking forward to this😃
I haven’t been this excited for a What If? story since your Harry sorted into Slytherin story.
This What If? is gonna be amazing I can feel it.
At the start of PS, Mcgonnagal says in the future it will be known as Harry Potter day. I wish they had called it “Harryoween”
As soon as I saw this I clicked on it because I’ve been waiting forever for this. I can’t wait
I'm exited, it'd be so amazing if you made Sirius and Remus co-parent Harry
I am rewatching What if Harry was in Slytherin, and this is your reminder to do the same!
Ok, now this does work. Cause it evades the protection charm/sacrifice Lily did for Harry (which wouldn't work on the Longbottom's). Nice!
I’ve wondered the answer to this question since the very first time I read these books, so thank you so much J
Got a jacked up leg so watching a new HP Super Carlin video is always a great thing to cheer up
This is an interesting what-if : What if Ginny forgot her diary which WAS Tom Riddle's Horcrux. In the chapter whomping willow, the weasleys and Harry run late and Ginny mentions about forgetting her diary. So it would be interesting to see what happens?
We have all been waiting for this one
Other than Snape also bringing Harry along (he'd definitely just bring Lily but I still think that he'd tell Dumbledore where baby Harry was), this is spot on.
