    Growing up we used to do all hay with Massey TO30 and a Massey 35. Always worked. The cutter was a 7 foot sickle mower and a New Holland Hayliner 315.

    Traveled many miles around hayfields making 1000’s of bales with an IH 45 baler equipped with a 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine. We pulled the baler and wagon with a Farmall C. The baler used to throw the backend of that C around pretty good when standing still too. We used that setup for years.

      We used a old 50T gas powered behind a M, one in a while the Super C pulling a wagon. We'd load 7 tiers with the crown.
      The boss worked some shares on rented ground. So we'd mow hay there then six wagon home. One each behind thecpickup n Super C two behind two Ms. Covering wagons was a job in itself.
      Mow in the morning after milking n breakfast.

    Hey Brock when you buy this baler from Paul unbolt the hammer strap from the tongue of the baler and try flipping it to the under side of the tongue to get some ground clearance but I'm curious if that would put the PTO at a bad angle

    If you also get a pull along sledge this will make collecting the bales much more easy as they will be on blocks of 8 or what ever size sledge you get

    Howdy Brock! Yeah I figured you wouldn't have any problems. I have some horse friends that use an old Ford 8N for baling and they rarely have any issues. Older baler but it still makes for some nice tight bales. Thanks for sharing 🤠

    Not sure how prices are out there for Hay, but I know out here over the past 10 years I've watched square bales go from $1 a bale to over $10 at auction. During the winter months its not unusual for the "horse hay" to go for $20-26 per square.
    Its really killed a lot of farms with not enough pasture for the number of animals they run. Truth be told with the current market you are better cutting even a few acres for hay than you are trying to put livestock up on it and buy hay, you just can't recover your money with todays feed prices.. let alone make any. I've seen deer round bailers out here they want almost $60,000 for, so if you can find a beauty like the one you ran there, jump on it.
    Thanks for the video.

    What is that, a 20 acer field? No way would I have dropped all those to come back and pick them up. We do that on a 5 acer field and thats a long day. Drop bale on ground, run wagon around to pickup said bale, run back to shed to unload said bales, go back to field and repeat. We did 200 bales, 4 wagons and a big kick in the head, we had a buyer the following week. Go get a Farmall M or John Deere A and get a wagon behind it. So much faster and easier.

    What horse power range is your tractor?

  • @EthanPDobbins
    @EthanPDobbins Год назад

    Bitty little machine for a baler and probably wouldn't want to use it anywhere but relatively flat ground, but it'll do it on that terrain. It's got the horse power at least even if it doesnt have the wheelbase or the weight of a bigger one. This is what i mean when i say these little machines are made primarly to use pto attachments. It'll run that baler all day but get going on a steep hill and it might take you and the tractor with it wherever it's going 😂. Basically got more motor than a machine of that size really needs. Can make another drawbar that gives you some more height. As to why it didn't tie that one bale it happens. Some balers will miss every time on some random number like every 204th bale or whatever some will miss the first 1-3 every time they start baling and some it will be random every once in a while. Not much to worry about unless it starts spitting out a ton of missed bales.
