I have this same watch. It really is a fantastic tool watch for the price. These videos don't do the dial texture justice. It is very dynamic in the sunlight.
I have one of these - a black dial with date version that I preordered the day they were announced.. I've gotta say that this watch is much nicer than some of my luxury brand expensive watches. The accuracy is about -2 seconds per day in the couple of months that I've had it. The lume, as shown above, is spectacular. The bracelet was a big attraction for me, as I've never before had a bracelet with an on the fly micro adjust clasp, and I like that feature very much. The watch lies flat on my wrist and there isn't really anything that I don't like about it. The dial texture is very nice, and unfortunately videos just don't do it justice. Kudos to Jody for providing such a fantastic watch, and thank you to Oleg and Mr. Bond for a fine review.
I preordered the purple on curved H link with black strap pack when these launched. I received it 11am on a Friday my time. Put it straight on after resizing the bracelet. By 5:30pm I loved it so much I ordered a red one on flat H link. Received that one by the following Tuesday, again around 11am (perks of living in Australia is fast shipping and no import taxes!). Both of my Origins have now been in heavy rotation in my collection, getting far more time overall than any of my other 100 odd watches!
Thanks Oleg. Appreciate the review! 🎉
Hello and welcome! 😁
A good honest review. A watch made by an enthusiast for watch enthusiasts. Hard to fault for the money. 👍🏻
I got the black dial version. I have had it on wrist for the last week and I am smitten with it! All of the features that were mentioned in the video review are correct. If I were to have any "niggles and moans" (using Jody-speak): 1. I would have liked a secondary safety clasp and 2. A little better finishing around the edges of the bracelet links as they are a tad sharp. Otherwise from a feature and value viewpoint, this watch is hard to beat.
I just received one of these watches in the same color pattern that you reviewed. I think you were a spot on with your presentation. I was very surprised when I received multiple watchbands with a travel case. This will definitely be in my rotation from my collection.
Had similar issues with the screws - you are not alone.
I own both the black and blue versions. Yes, they are that good!
Great review!
Wearing mine right now, great watch, but i got the “White” dial, which I would not describe as white, it is silver. And honestly I really wanted a white dial, I would have chosen a different color had I known it was silver. They have updated the website to reflect this.
Looks good for the price.💯👍
I love my white face dial. Great value. I do find the micro adjust a bit tricky though. Great review.
Great video as always Oleg! Would love to get you hands on with one of ours some time and hope all is well on your end!
Good review on a pretty good first offering from Jody an Mr P!
I have the same blue dial version and its mostly on the rubber strap. Great curved link braclet as well. I really think they did a good job on their first watch.
The dial looks great in sunlight like others have mentioned as well. My daily since receiving it in February.
A word of caution here if you remove the fold over portion from the clasp. It contains a split spring bar, spring in the middle with a short bar on each side. One side launched across the room never to be found Lol. I didn't know they existed, so its not necessarily a design flaw. Just something to be aware of.
Cheers!
The SM on the fly clasp has the same weird little half spring bars and I also launched one bar. I found it, but not the spring.
@LymanPhillips I hope you were able fix it.
I had to take mine to a local jeweler for that.
I didn't have any spring bars that would work in my kit with miscellaneous sizes.
The Chinese/Hong Kong manufacturers can make decent affordable watches and numerous microbrands depend on them entirely for their output once past the design stage. This one is a good but not outstanding effort. I'm amazed that more brands keep coming. They seem never ending at present but surely a shakeout will come eventually.
This is a microbrand designed by another watch RUclipsr… justonemorewatch. not just some random chinese brand.
Absolutely. They also rely on the Seiko movements that they can get really cheap nowadays, including GMT or even quartz variants. The problem seems they are too many options.
I think it’s pretty much spot on. You’re right about the design but it works and doesn’t jar. A colour combo for most tastes and you have a winner. Only reason I don’t have one is I have a box full of divers and it’s too similar to others.
Thanks for your review. I think the other value feature of this watch is the fact the design is original (although there are a lot of aspects that are reminiscent of other watches).
White dial, metal bracelet….i like it.
Very much…
The bezel with its double chamfer edge is lovely with a firm play free click.
Dont dig this model but I cant wait for your video on the ascent!
If they make a slightly smaller 39mm I’d definitely buy it
Its coming in 38
Thanks, that will be perfect 😊
Oohhh thanks!@@ThemysteriousMrP
The problem for UK buyers is the ridiculous £100 in import duty and handling charges via DHL. Both of my Helms had no additional charges via royal mail.
If I didn't already own a CW Dartmouth I would probably have picked up a blue one of these.
Its a nice watch bit too expensive you can get a hamilton or tissot for less
Also reminds me of Sinn watches
Like Korsbek watch, made in Germany, way, way back
I have one and I like everything about it. but for some reason I don't like it as m
Great review Mister, I got this watch with White Dial, and it’s awesome, solid watch and built performance! Long live Ukraine 🇺🇦
Long live Russia 🇷🇺
Watches are not all about features and quality. Otherwise Seiko would be out of business. The Erebus is just too plain to stand out.
Can you show us your sleeve tattoo?
Looks like a great watch, sadly its a bit too big for me.
Stand by for two new releases more your size very soon!
Hopefully 39 mm
I love Jody but cmon man it’s the same thing all over again with the nh35 movement!cmon man use the 9000 series!so many other brands are using it the nh is old outdated and just not accurate!
Not accurate? Mine is running at +2 to +4 sec/day. That’s COSC levels. I have two miyota 9 series powered watches (one a Bulova Wilton GMT 9075, and a Zelos blacktip titanium 9015). Neither of those are running as accurate. The Bulova runs about -10sec/day, and the Zelos about +10-12sec/day….
I think you need to tell them that there is a 35 dollar USD for shipping and if there is any tax it will be over 400 USD. It is not for me being too heavy and thick for my liking but I wish them the best and success.
Perhaps in the future, if they do a titanium bracelet and watch case and a thinner high-beat movement like the Miyota 9000 series movement I would be a buyer.
Bought it and was disappointed. The dial is a completely dull textured dial. My opinion (and my family's) is that it makes it look cheap and boring.
Mate it’s not Airbus 😂(like the company that builds aero planes) it’s Erebus 😂
The only real question is, is do you think it's okay for a couple of guys claiming to be 'watch enthusiasts' launching a company with a generic watch of forgettable design, in a blatant 'value proposition' cash grab UNDER THE PROMISE that they'll do something more interesting later? For me - as a design professional - it's a hard no.
Yes , it’s fine. They can make it, we don’t have to buy it.
They are revealing a sports watch next week with a high beat movement and supposedly improved design and finishing.
I just don't like the texture of the dial. Not my cup of tea.
In macro shots, it is quite exaggerated. To the naked eye, it's barely noticeable.
.... " a little bit of Helm " ? ..... looks like a large amount of Helm including a variation of the actual Helm logo ............
If you want to buy youtuber merch like a 12 year old watching Jake Paul videos, this is the watch for you.
It's a total cash grab. It offers nothing to the watch space aside from a cheap spec watch.
Soooooo Original waaouh. Rotating Bezel, waouhh incredible. And it also goes underwater. I am bushed, I need a nap
250$ watch the brand has no legacy just a youtuber that whored himself
anyone can build a watch with a nh34 they cost 30$
Case and bracelet are attractive. The dial, texture and design- not.
Garbage homage "watch"
For me it was a safe uninspired pelegos homage and there are loads better quality and lower price from factory brands.
A nh35 based watch goes for 80 to 150 max cost these days. There is better value elsewhere. But if you buy a watch because of the owner then it might be interesting to you but not good value to me.
That's just incorrect. Seiko dive watches with that movement go for $400-500.
@@JM-gy6zb they are not factory brands, san Martin, thorn, seestern all can produce more refined design and finishing for lower cost. I even got a micro brand with a 9000 movement for 400 so not much more.
Booo! Get stuffed! It’s a great watch!
@@nedflanders3769 But not a great guy from all i can hear around the watch world
@@nedflanders3769Way to go Ned, I like it😊
Too big for my taste, not to mention it's yet another boring, generic diver. Enough already!
its crap i trew mine away
