Well, that honeymoon was 🫣🥵😱!!! Everything was going great … until it wasn’t! 🙃 - These 2 just can’t win for losing! 🤦♀️ What’d y’all think of this rollercoaster of an episode?!?!
I cannot WAIT for you all to get to season 2! don’t get wrong I absolutely love Daphne and Simons story but ..Season two made me forget all about what happened here, the way season 2 pulls you in and tugs your heart and really gets you frustrated 😂😂Truly my favorite season
This was my favorite episode of the show, but yea, there's always something to ruin the good times at the end 😂
The thing about women back in the regency period, Gregorian period, and even the colonial period was that they never allowed to do just about anything having to do with sex and sexuality until marriage. Women back then were meant to be seen as proper and almost “dumb” or not well educated regardless of their society status which is why when Penelope discussed with her mom taking a break from the marriage market to focus on her studies…..her mom would laugh her off and dismiss her, and when Eloise would read just about anything Violet would almost in a way scold her for it. Women back then were just meant to sit around and do nothing at a young age, and then once they hit 18-20 years old they had to marry and have children. So while yes Daphne was wrong for basically raping Simon….we can’t 100% blame her because as we saw in the episodes leading up to that, Daphne didn’t even know or understand what sex was, as well as masturbation.
I like your take and this and appreciate the information that gives perspective of life for women back then
Yea, I don't think the concept of a woman raping a man was even a thing back then. Especially considering men in general were not pulling out back then😂
First, how NAIVE is Colin? Marenia has turned into a Real Featherton. Now as for Daphne and Simon, both are wrong and share the blame. Once she found out, she should have confronted him with the fact that she knew. Simon should have told her he could but wouldn't. She would have married him anyway as she was going to marry Berbrook so her family was not ruined. So as she and Simon were seen in the garden, she would have still married him even if she knew he could have kids but just didn't want to have them. And remember who initiated this marriage in the first place. Thoughts???
VERY TRUE!!! They’re both the problem - they truly make it so hard to root for them because 99.99% of their problems would be solved if they would just be open and honest with one another. 🤦♀️
7:10 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i don't think I've laughed this hard out loud in a long time!! 😎👍🏼 Love it!
🤣🤣🤣 Glad you could laugh along with us! :)
So the behavior of head of staff (I don’t know the title) of the duke and duchess’ house is a pattern I’ve noticed in films set around this time. I think it has to do with the attachment they have to the old duchess/woman of the house. They are always super close with the former, and so used to the way the former did things that it’s so hard to change.
Thanks for sharing! That definitely makes sense!
Every time Daphne asks a question or seeks information, Simon doesn't answer her truthfully or he evades:
What happened to your hand? (after he pummeled Berbrooke) Boxing with Will, which she finds out later isn't true.
Is something the matter? (at dinner): You are so very far away. This continued with cover the room in pink tulle. She knew something was wrong and inquired; he wouldn't share with her. He didn't have to tell her at the dinner table but could have when they were alone later.
Does that hurt? (in the gazebo) She doesn't know what ejaculate is or what it's for; she thinks his pulling out is how sex is supposed to happen every time.
Why did you stay away from London so long? (at his desk) No particular reason then evades talking about it further with kisses and sex.
When Daphne suspects he is purposely not getting her pregnant, why would she expect the truth? Why should she expect the truth? Yes, Simon feels pain and shame regarding his relationship with his father and talking about it is very difficult, but he needs to share it with his spouse. In this, he is more intimate with Will than Daphne (it is never said explicitly but extrapolating from their conversations, Will knows [your angry but not with me so take it somewhere else & finally do something about it]).
👌👌👌👌👌❤❤❤❤
True facts! They’re both for sure in the wrong - they need to COMMUNICATE! We love them but they both make it so hard! 🙃😂
What was he lying about when she asked was something wrong at dinner? Wasn’t it just that she was so far away like he said? He did start to evade when she mentioned redecorating and having fond memories but I thought initially he was actually just upset at how formal everything was/how far she was.
@@Zachary_Michaels The "so far away" was not an honest answer because that's not why something is wrong. The house was his father's; the formality was his father's. Simon has no good memories there and no emotional connection to the house. Daphne told him how lovely it is but, honestly, Simon wouldn't care if it burned to the ground. I do think he cares (or comes to care) for the village and the people in it but the structure itself, no.
@@justmetoday5146 Ah ok! I get your perspective on it. While “so far away” isn’t a lie there’s more to WHY her being so far away is an issue for him - because it reminds him of his fathers coldness and formality etc. He gives a lot of half truths. 👌🏾
I was looking forward to this reaction for this episode for obvious reasons 😭
🫣🥵🤣
My favorite episode 😂
Hi! Can you guys react to a new movie called
Society of the snow? It's from the same director as The Impossible and it is based on a true story about a plain accident in The Andes in 1972 in Chile. It has been nominated for best international movie for the Oscars.
I have heard this movie is a great watch and an amazing story
@@LuceyBlanco It really is!! Based on an amazing true story. If you watch it, I recommend you to do it with subtitles to catch all the emotions, besides the English dubbing is really bad.
@@user-hj5ug1mw2r no need for English dubbing for me since I speak Spanish 😁 I will definitely check it out!
Honestly both are at fault....he took advantage, he knew that she was not knowledgeable and did as you guys said COMMUNICATE. She did try to talk to him.
SO TRUE.
LETSSSSSSS GOOOOO❤❤
Yeah, I definitely agree that they were both in the wrong but Daphne is more in the wrong... The Duke essentially lied to her by omission... but she sexually assaults him by ignoring him revoking consent. Her shitty thing outweighs his shitty thing, IMO.
Also glad that you guys noticed that Simon stutter came back after the sexual assault. Some people miss that detail but I think it's an extremely important one!
Definitely... :(
Been waiting so long for these reactions to carry on
I can’t wait till you get to season 2 it’s definitely the better in my opinion
But I’m patiently waiting for Benedict season
He’s by far my favourite character
He doesn’t really come into his own till season 2 though
Benedict is amazing and i want more screen time for him but I am really excited about Penelope and Collin
Not saying what she did was right but she didn't go into it trying to get back at him now that she had new information. She cried and yelled at him after because she did it to see if it was true. She didnt want it to be true that he was purposely misleading her. He took advantage of her complete naivety. He walked her through everything else so he definitely kept key details from her to get what he wanted
