1:13 I just had to think about how she mixed up the order for me to realize she probably just hadn't read. Then 2:22 😂 and because Shonda Rhymes apparently wrote the books! Stated with the confidence of someone who's never even seen the title cover of any of them! 🎉😁😁
Daphne's book is the first, the books are not in order by sibling. It's Daphne, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, Gregory. So far the show is Daphne, Anthony, Colin. Benedict is next most likely.
@@shirleydurr411 It's true that women were expected to marry younger, 100%... I do think that Regency romance books have led us to believe women were expected to marry straight out of the school room at 17-19 when the reality was it was actually early to mid-20s. I think men were thought to be of suitable age mid or late 20s or even early, since they went off to college and women didn't. I also think younger women were at a lower risk of dying at childbirth for their first baby and obviously capable of having more kids.
2:47 They didn't have slaves in England - that is to say, they kept slaves in plantations in their colonies and made money off the slave trade, but there weren't any slaves in England itself.
While Bridgerton isn't historically accurate. England had got rid of Slavery in 1774. So technically before the US was even a nation. But they still allowed the slave trade outside of Britain itself. And British citizens could have slaves outside in their colonies. They finally ended the slave trade for their empire in 1807, and abolished slavery (except India which wasn't run by the crown) in the rest of the empire by 1833.
@@ChannelSee1 A movie that deals with a famous case regarding slavery is _Belle,_ which is mostly the story of the real-life Dido Elizabeth Belle, the black daughter of an Englishman, who was raised by his family. There is a famous portrait of her with her white cousin. _Belle_ is a bit like a Jane Austen story if it dealt with race (there actually is a little of that in Austen's final, unfinished novel, which I haven't read yet -- it would have been interesting to see where she would have gone if she'd lived longer). You might find _Belle_ interesting to react to, though.
This show is extremely inaccurate about corsets. Season one is based on the first book. The books are in order by whose love story occurs, and they don't fall in love by age order. They are named in alphabetical order (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth), but they don't fall in love/have a story in that order. You could rewear dresses in this era -- this show has a lot of inaccuracies, some on purpose and some not. And they actually liked the ladies to be more Penelope's size than Daphne's, but television, whatever. You did not just call Golda ugly. The miniatures are a bit like trading cards -- good comparison. Colin's hair is a bit bouffant in this episode. Siena has a job, she's an opera singer, but she can't afford to live on what she makes from that. It is common for a gentleman to offer support. Anthony was doing this and just took it out from under her with no notice. Not cool. And he told her he wouldn't do that in this episode too. Pray tell - basically, please tell me. Cressida. Not Caressida. 1813. The early 19th century. I never realized how Lady Whistledown lifts Marina up but in kind of an insulting way before. Yes, Julie Andrews won an Oscar for _Mary Poppins._ Maybe you're thinking of _Mary Poppins Returns._ If you're doing a show where the narrator is a pseudonymous character, you are most likely going to use an alter ego voice rather than the secret character's voice. If you've seen _Gossip Girl,_ it's the same thing. In my experience, men gossip as much as women (in reference to women gossiping).
31:37 Because the housekeeper wouldn't be able to tell the difference between wine and period blood, right. I mean the smell differences if nothing else......and there's colour, and texture as well.
i love girlies getting someone to watch Bridgerton. whether they ended up liking it or not. also she's a real one for liking Bridgerton. I love the show too :D
Ive never had a problem with the hairstyles in this show. I think they are really fitting not only for the time period but for the characters themselves. I don’t know why so many people hate on mutton chops. They might not be in fashion now but they were popular at the time for a reason. And daphnes baby bangs are delicate and really sell the whole innocent look just like all of her tiny jewellery. Unlike literally every other woman in the show who wears statement pieces with large gems she always has dainty little pieces.
Dresses at that time were far more expensive, because every single one had to be hand-made. Food was either much cheaper or much more expensive. Young ladies were getting married at 15 or 16 sometimes. More typical was 17 or 18. Their husbands were usually several years older. They began teh show by explicitly saying it was the year 1813. Fireworks existed but those sparklers did not. Julie Andrews did indeed play Mary Poppins. I'm not enjoying this reaction. You guys seem determined to show off how proudly ignorant and unimpressed you are. What's the point of that?
Damn peps...the reaction was half weak/in poor taste jokes, a quarter talking in general and a quarter actually looking at the show. Y'll aren't usually this distracted. I know this isn't really your thing but I do hope the reaction gets a bit better if y'll decide to continue.
Thanks for your feedback. Stick with us for a few episodes. As we get more in the story and character we do start taking it more seriously and actually quite enjoying the show.
I how you guys continue but I’d love if Amanda gave you info about the show since she’s already seen it so much. Shonda made the cast very inclusive & diverse so all the jokes and surprises could’ve been refocused to the plot of the show. There’s much more so please don’t stop! ❤
FYI - England banned slavery/the trade of slaves in the entire British Enpire (not just England) in 1807. The movement started in 1787. So yeah, no slaves. Everyone you see working in the houses was paid. They had jobs.
Actually you got the books wrong Daphne is the 1st book and honestly don’t compare the books to the show they are very different in a lot of aspects. And no Shonda Rhymes did not write the books. Not to be rude but should probally look up stuff first before assuming things
I can't wait until you guys get to episodes 2 and 3. I know I'm going to be howling with your reactions to certain events😂😂. Hurry, get to it, I need your comments in my life😅
the dude on the left was ruining the reaction, talkin about black people being slaves but hating on the queen being a woman of color by denying her blackness? I cannot enjoy the reactions at all.
This show was not my cup-of-tea at all. However, I have watched it all and it is really good. Also, if you like Grey's anatomy then do you think we will get some Greys vids on the channel?
Mandy gurl I love you but the confidence in which you say wrong facts like how Julie wasn't Poppins or how Shonda wrote Bridgerton 😂😂😂 it was too much for me lol hilarious
lol we will be watching ALL of bridgerton, don't worry. Right now we'll only be able to release 1 episode a week as we're also watching Hotd and The Boys.
Please stop playing games with this show. It’s a good show watch and listen stop talking about the queen or people won’t watch. People will drag you about Queen Charlotte. Watch or don’t but don’t play games.
Keep the comments not funny. I’m trying to watch the whole video but you’ll getting on my nerves with the weak jokes. Please watch or don’t. Be serious
As we get into more episode we do get into the actual show more, especially after episode 3. Lol shonda did not write the books. Julia Quinn wrote the books. Shondaland bought the rights.
Although she later co-wrote the _Queen Charlotte_ novelization with Julia Quinn. (I agree with you -- just adding this.)

Dowdy means shabby/not becoming in appearance, or somewhat old fashioned. So Lady F was trying to talk Marina down.

The baby bangs were supposed to look like Audrey Hepburn. They didn’t work tho.
