I called Rheem tech support today to request a replacement thermistor for my faulty Evaporator thermistor. They verified the temperature reading on my thermistor was faulty and will send a replacement. I asked what is being done to fix this problem for all the homeowners who have this problem. They said that the tech support team and engineers met in July 2024 to discuss the problem because the call center was receiving many questions about this error code. There has not been a long term fix or bulletin issued yet, but it is good to hear the problem is heard.
Thanks for watching and call their technical support as soon as you can. The last time I called them this was their phone number for hybrid water heater support: 800-995-0982.
Agreed. This failure is intentional and foreseen. Rheem is begging for a class action lawsuit with their automatic shutdown and annoying beeping for their problem. The fact that the code is changed for the exact same issue (thermistor temp out of range high) speaks to the fact their were aware of this when coding errors. In my opinion, a sensor that autensibly is there to warn of high Temps who's only solution for repair if the sensor trips is to replace the sensor is self evidently unnecessary unless the need Is simply to create demand for technician visits.
It just depends on your amount of experience troubleshooting technical issues. Most people interested in purchasing the hybrid hot water heaters already understand the science and why they are efficient. Other non scientific people get interested when they find out how much they can save on their power bill. Rheem does need to make sure they improve their manufacturing processes to minimize defects.

This anti oxidant joint compound "noalox" (time stamp 8:00) should have been applied when built. 🤔Easy fix.
I agree

That looks complicated.
