omg hi! i'm the zen/kiri in the video. i appreciate all the critique and yes, i've heard other zens say to "spam" but your explanation makes it a lot clearer. i just thought i was supposed to hold down left click which- watching back the replay back, it looks VERY silly. i will absolutely stop blasting in the future LOL. and to the people asking about secondary fire, i literally have no idea how to use it, so any tips would be so appreciated! i know it's kinda like a charge but i'm not exactly sure when is best to utilize it. the over-ult point you made makes a lot of sense. i have a habit of holding my ult on heroes i'm not familiar with but i totally see what you're saying about using it proactively. and for the suzus, i will adefinitely be more intentional about when i'm going to use them. this was all very helpful. thank you so much emongg and everyone for your feedback!!!
I can't hep with Zen but I can help a little with Kiri. I don't know if you changed these settings. Have Ofuda cancels reload off. This means if you are in reload and accidently click ofudas it won't cancel. Also make it so toggle ofuda is off. This one you can kind of wait a little until you gain experience but what it does is makes it so you have more control over how many heals are outputted (You have to hold instead of tap with this to output more heals). Now your gameplay. First if an ally is full HP do not just heal into them. 18:38 you swift stepped to your full HP Torb and started healing him. You would have been better off going up that wall and taking cover and throwing some kunai's down the path because you know the opposition is there. You did do this but you could have done it as soon as you saw full HP Torb. I'm just saying look for opportunities instead of just pumping heals but that's not to say you are managing to output kunai's for pressure. Second like Emongg said, is suzu management. This just comes with time and asking yourself is using a suzu here worth it. Sometimes you have to throw that out and just use instinct but try to see if using it would have a benefit. Third is your Kitsune rushes. You are placing it into your team instead of into the enemy. Put it into the enemy because it can create space but it also allows your team to push forward and take that space, sometimes. Lastly I feel like you aren't confident. Especially when Venture was diving you but you had your team, you got out when you could have applied a little pressure on them (I'm not saying duel until you are one tap).Still getting out wasn't a terrible move. A bonus tip, Zen and Kiri have the same travel time but Zen shots have a faster fire rate. This just makes predicting shots a little easier. Hope this kind of helps and wish you the best on improving.
Rule of thumb: whenever you can see an enemy, you should be using primary fire. Whenever you can't see an enemy, such as when you're forced to duck behind cover, you should be charging up alt fire. That's because primary fire does more dps over time, but alt fire can give you a big burst of damage to unleash at whoever pops into view. However, there are some caveats: alt fire is kinda loud while charging, so you don't necessarily want to use it when you're going for a sneaky flank. There are also considerations around ammo use -- but that's not usually a major factor. Also note that you can cancel alt fire with your melee attack, in case you don't want to give away your position (they'll still hear you, but might not know exactly where you are).
@@Demonboy238 okay, this is great to know!! i will adjust those settings and keep all of that in mind. i'm definitely not as confident with kiri as i am with moira as my aim is not the best but i'm looking into changing some of my sensitivity settings and practicing in aimlabs as well!! appreciate your help
At the start of the video I didn't realize I was watching at 1.5x speed and was like "Hooooly shit, did they buff zen? what how is this guy shooting that fast??" lol
The Danny DeVito thumbnail is golden 😂 Both Zenyattas just shoot all the time. It's kinda hilarious 😅 Zen ult can still ruin a Genji's day, so don't just blast your ult whenever, transcendence isn't as bad as emongg makes it seem. You just have to be smart about it. Is there an ult you could counter? Then save it for that. Is it your get out of jail free card? Use it when you get dove and no one's helping you but make sure to reposition to a save place before it ends. Spam chokes, people get so mad when they die to Zen, it's amazing. And lastly, save discord orb for fight engages. Don't discord the tank right away or else they won't be discorded when your team attacks. And the most important thing as Zen: POSITIONING
Every zen ult is a great ult until an Ana grenade hits them in the face. Or a Dva bomb goes off. Or Tire. Pulse bomb. Then you just sorta.. float there... in your own realm of invincibility. Watching as all your friends die, and realizing that your true purpose.. your one true purpose was never to heal, but watch in agony as all your friends die. That's the real reason he's invincible during his ult.
I love how often the advice we often get is if you get one kill with your ult (on a hero that wouldn't have died otherwise), it was likely a good ult, as that one kill will mean you win the team fight nearly every time. Then with Zen ult, the narrative isn't somehow that you've saved yourself when you were about to die (the reverse/the same), and any other benefits such as major heals on your team and body blocking damage and repositioning and letting Mercy get a res off etc aren't just icing on the cake of an ult that was already just fine. How is the narrative always that Zen's ult is so bad that you might as well just use it to save yourself selfishly, as it's bad anyway. How does this add up? I'm glad there's a top comment criticising this downplaying of his ult.
@@overratedfool6900 The honest truth is: You can use Zen ult to stop a lot of damage and death and save your team. BUT, if you wait for the perfect Zen ult, you will be disappointed by counter-play. Survival games are my specialty, so I'll leave some recommendations: *Subnautica* and/or Subnautica Below Zero - Excellent choices, especially for newcomers to the genre. Featuring a world beneath the waves, explore a vibrant and terrifying ocean filled to the brim with equal parts danger and discovery. Utilizing sci-fi technology on an alien world, it broke the traditional mold when it originally launched in 2018. *Grounded* - Shrink down beyond your comfort zone and fight your way through an enormous back yard in an epic quest to answer your burning questions. Complete with a fully-voiced, 4-player co-op compatible story, you could even throw a few other streamers into the MIX.R! *Sons of The Forest* is the sequel to The Forest, another timeless classic of the survival genre. Set in a location that's more or less familiar to most of us, this game turned the concept on its head with a unique horror identity and intense violence and gore. *7 Days 2 Die* - After well over a decade in alpha, it's coming to 1.0 soon and it's full of good stuff. Face the apocalypse head-on, surviving against hordes of the undead with whatever means you can scavenge. Although much slower-paced and more appealing to committed survival enjoyers, the game has a lot to offer, and will continue to expand on that content for the foreseeable future.
So I've been playing this game about four months now I think. A total of just under 1000 games (nearly all of those ranked). I didn't know how the extra rounds worked. Thank you emongg. I also play Kiri and didn't know to hold on to the button to swift step when in a pinch. I don't even want to think about how many times that would have saved me lol.

I think another helpful critique is their positioning. They keep finding themselves in situations where they’re surrounded by the enemy team, too far away from their team and getting picked off, or standing wide out in the open.
As someone with 10k+ hours across the survival genre I highly recommend looking into 7 days to die. It is finally going to be releasing 1.0 this summer after being in Alpha for literally a decade. To me its similar to lamp, they're trading a cooldown for a ult, so not fun. Heres a mild hot take, hack should prevent, not disable, emp should disable and prevent
I find it hilarious that some people will ask for advice or complain about being a low rank, when they pick mercy/zen, mercy/Lucio. Maybe pick a real support line up and you might win more?
In low ranks, you might not have a robust repertoire of heroes you're good at, and actually Zen has high carry potential, especially against a Mauga. And Rein isn't even that bad in a Mercy/Zen comp, he just "doesn't have fun" in the sense of having to play more passively, relying more on his shield to keep him up.

I don't get lucio I understand someone like mercy but lucio in general is great. His utility is impossible to match.
Wait, your gold Moria 😑 for support go back to dps go go
i’m not a gold moira. i climbed with mercy a couple seasons back up to gold and that’s as far as i got.
I lose every game i have a dogshit zen with 1 heal and 10k damage
Zen is the worst support in the game
