Another very good discussion of this interesting genre. Looking forward to future spoiler-free videos like this covering Hidden Games Crime Scene and Unsolved Case Files and others.

      Thanks, Bot!
Yes I'll be reviewing the Hidden Games series very soon, Unsolved Case Files, and the Hunt-a-killer standalone boxes.
I'm still trying to figure out just how to review these kinds of games without giving away spoilers.
I think this review was my second exploration of the kinds of differences between these games, and as such it was as much a long discussion about these nature of these issues as it was talking about these specific games. I hope in the next reviews I can skip all the general talk and just point out where the specific games fall on these criteria, and talk about where the games rank compared to each other.

I believe life is about the journey .
That being said - I did watch till the end . You did a wonderful job and I'm sure it wasn't easy to leave out the descriptions that might've spoiled the end result .
    This was very helpful .

I heard the phone number in death in Antarctica has a phone number that is no longer in service. Is there a huge clue we are missing if the phone number doesn't work?

This was very helpful, I am new to this type of game, maybe you can add how many players are ideal for these.

I personally think 2 is best. Then 3 or 1. More than 3 is pushing it and someone is likely to check out.

Hi, fine work here ;). Ever heard of Midnight Murder Mysteries, a detective board game that just came out in the US (and Europe): 1-5 detective players investigate on a luxury ship, 27 totally different cases, each can be played 3 gaming modes (Competitive, Cooperative, or Solo)...

Hi! How are you doing? I bought Murder Mystery The Underwood Cellars. I opened the package and mixed up the documents, but on the first sheet it says to solve one file first and then the second. Could you please help me organising the documents in the “missing person” file so I can sort them out before I start playing. Thanks for your help :)

Does Death by Chef's Knife have suspects (dinner guest playing characters), like we've done in the past? Or do we just invite friends and we all try to figure out who did it? I find the original version fun as we all dress up and get into character.... thanks!

    • @COOPFORTWO
      @COOPFORTWO  3 года назад +2

No. Despite the name of this series being "Murder Mystery Party" -- these games are NOT dinner party games at all. Players do not take on roles. The name is a bit misleading. In fact these games would be pretty hard to play in a group larger than say 4 people because of the need for quiet focus, etc. For that kind of game you need to make sure that you buy a game aimed at a dinner party of 6 or more people. -jesse

@@COOPFORTWO we played it, but ran out of time and started getting tired. Group of 6, and some enjoyed it more than others but we were all surprised by how clever and detailed it was and there were some cool plot twists. It was well done in our opinion. Thanks so much for posting this video! I am looking for a game in this genre to play with five people and the Murder Mystery Party Case Files series really caught my eye. I found it very helpful to be walked through all the pros and cons of the different games. Watched all 33 minutes of the video. What would you recommend for a dinner party game in this genre, with, say, 6-8 people?

    • @COOPFORTWO

Here's the bgg thread i've used and found useful: boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/439/best-murder-party-game-series
These games are often < $20 on amazon new and on ebay.
An important thing is picking one with the right player count. The most common counts are 6 players and 8 players. So figure out how many you want to play and then get a game recommended on that list for that player count, and pay less then $20, and you can't go wrong.
