    I use all the Thai teachers on RUclips. Your teaching style is the simplest and best explained out there. I love how you break down each word in the sentence. No one does it as good as you......thank you so much.....Feel free to cut and paste this comment anywhere to attract more followers. Warm regards Andrew

    Thai tones are so precise and easy to mix up, it feels like it's impossible sometimes when your mother tongue is flat... Half of the time I mispronounce words as "PâeMâe". Even harder for me to apply tones correctly on short vowels.
    Great teacher btw, thank you !

    Thanks Jack for putting together such an interesting way of relationship in the families. That'll take quite a while to absorb... 555.
    Just curious, if I married to a Thai man, what relationship name should I call the husband's parent, and vice versa, what the husband should call my parents in Thai?

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  2 года назад +2

      There are several ways to call your partner's parents depending on the region of Thailand. It would be easy for you to use a term that is used mostly in central Thailand.
      พ่อ (pâw) father, แม่ (mâe) mother
      (formal) สามี (săamee) husband, (informal) ผัว (pǔa husband
      พ่อสามี (pâw săamee), พ่อผัว (pâw pǔa) = husband's father
      แม่สามี (mâe săamee), แม่ผัว (mâe pǔa) = husband's mother
      พ่อแม่สามี (pâw mâe săamee), พ่อแม่ผัว (pâw mâe pǔa) = husband's parents

      thank you very much Jack. It's really amazing to know that there are differentiated names also for formal and informal. Thank you.

    I noticed that some people often call older people that they know or strangers uncle, aunt etc. How do I should call older people?

    Question: my older brother got married to a woman from Thailand. She is about my age but a little older and because she lives here in our country she seems like is the one learning all the time. I am one of those people who come up with nicknames or special ways to call people really fast but I don't know how I should call her "sister"? I want a thai word that means "sister" for that context?

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  Год назад +2

      In yoIn your case, she is your sister-in-law. Sister in law in Thai is pêe sà pái (พี่สะใภ้). pêe in Thai is older brother and older sister. pêe is a falling tone, not a flat tone like pee. You can call her pêe and her name. ur case,

    Hi Jack. What if one day you get married, how should you address your father in law and mother in law. And the sons and daughters of your father and mother in law?

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  11 месяцев назад +1

      I'll call my father in law as พ่อตา(pâw dtaa) and my mother in law as แม่ยาย(mâe yaai). I'll refer to the sons and daughters of my father in law and mother in law as พี่(pêe) or น้อง(nóng) normally. However, if I want to be more specific, I'll base it on my wife. I'll call the older sister/brother of my wife (sons and daughters of your father and mother in law) as พี่เมีย(pêe mia) and the younger sister/brother of my wife (sons and daughters of your father and mother in law) as น้องเมีย(nóng mia).
