Just heard the heartbreaking news this gifted lady has passed away after a two and a half year battle with cancer. Margaret was only 57 ... dear lord will there ever be a cure once and for all for this insidious disease ... this is so sad, especially as it happened too soon after Olivia Newton John's passing. Dearest Margaret, thank you for sharing your wonderful gift of music, you are one of the really good ones, and your songs were a great part of my life. Rest easy now dear one, free from pain at last. 💐🌹❤️⭐️
This hurts, she was such a talent with an incredible voice. Another that should have gone across the world, very underated. Not many voices came close to hers. RIP Margaret.. :(
This song is devine and eternal… will always remember me of my childhood, the joy of 1989, and the simplicity of life back then. Margaret you will be missed and we will always treasure your gorgeous voice and contribution to music. RIP 💐♥️🎼
Just read the sad news that Margaret Urich has passed away. She was a New Zealand artist, topping charts here & Australia. This is my fav song of hers. RIP Margaret thanks for the great music
Poroporoaki Margaret from another 50 something man in Australia who loved your voice and will remember your indelible mark on the local music scene that shaped the late 80' and early 90's in Sydney, Melbourne and beyond. Used to sit in that bar many moons ago when I lived in Sydney .... good times Vale Margaret
I remember one hot night in Christchurch seeing a Peking Man poster on the wall outside a pub. I was 18 and the age limit was 20. The windows were open with people sitting in the frames. Payed my $10 cover charge, grabbed a beer and proceeded to have a great night. The next time i saw Margaret was with When The Cats Away, again at a pub gig but a couple of years later. Life seemed easier back then. RIP Margaret.
I heard this morning on the radio whilst at work that Margaret had passed away. Absolutely devastated. Only two weeks ago I downloaded “Escaping” from iTunes so I could listen to this truly beautiful song anytime, anywhere. On so many levels you wowed the world with your presence, spectacular voice and your amazing dance moves. RIP Margaret I will have Escaping at full volume in honour of a truly fabulous New Zealand singer.
Such sad news hearing of her passing to a truly awful disease, cancer. Escaping was my song when I did my OE in 89. I played it everyday on my Walkman. I got to see her in 94 in Jesus Christ Superstar with Jay L,agaia. Brilliant vocalist. RIP 🙏
Too many lovely female voices being silenced these last days …RIP Margaret. Will always remember your rehearsal on the set of Hey, Hey…the only time I recall all the crew stopping to clap ♥️
Aww this beautiful soul and this song reminds me of my mum, who would sing this song and tell me how much she loved this womans voice. She also sadly passed away from cancer last Sept. RIP Beautiful ❤❤❤
Oh man I remember when mum and dad played this for us growing up in our small town in NZ. She was one of our favs and this song stands the rest of time. RIP Margaret Urlich
A song that provided me great solace in times of sadness, but that also introduced me to the sounds of the wonderful Margaret Urlich...ever since it is the songs of Margaret that I turn to when needing consolation from sorrow. In her death, I shall do the same...Vale Margaret Urlich, thank you for the music....gone to soon, but now free from the pain
I remember when I had just arrived from the UK as a backpacker back in 1989 and I saw this video on the tv wow I thought what gorgeous eyes she has and the song isn't bad either what a beauty has been lost I still love the song
All over the radio in Oz back in 89/90. Damn nostalgia! Hearing this 30 years later and I can immediately smell my first girlfriend's lip gloss and denim jacket again...
Thank you Margaret Urlich for the beautiful songs that you left behind for us to listen to, you truly had an amazing voice and I loved it. Much love to your dear family xxoo
Absolutely gutted hearing about her passing. This was the first CD I ever bought when it was released. I’ll never forget seeing her live at the Harbourside Brasserie in Sydney over 30 years ago, with a mate from school. If there is a heaven, she is what angels sound like. She had the most beautiful voice and talent and will be missed.
@DM 70 gutted is a good expression, I guess it's better than saying as a grown elderly man tears are running down my face watching this video on loop, you sound a little bit younger than myself I never saw her perform live however I have come face to face with her at my studio just prior to her first album release, think recording engineer in Brisbane where she laid down tracks for the follow up album. I captured/mixed this voice of an angel and dumped it down to an old school Otari16 track r-t-r for the follow up album. Life is shit and not fair🥵🥵
@@vincenttough167 I’m 52. Wonderful memories you have and I’m sure you will treasure those forever, just like everyone else will in their own way and have their own memories. I was just a fan from a way back but her music and voice touched me deeply and still does. Thank you for sharing your story.
@@vincenttough167 thanks for sharing that Vincent. Wow what an honour for you to be able to do that. Yes the song Escaping never gets old. So much nostalgia and the song evokes so much emotion like it did when I first heard it. Rest in Peace Margaret
This made me feel emotional! I truly miss her music: such a powerful set of pipes! Her voice is a tonic for the soul. Many decades ago I was very fortunate to have met Margaret at a record store during an autograph signing session. I remember being totally agog over meeting her. Her smile was so warming. What a lovely lady. RIP Princess. ❤🩹
Live each day to the full folks! Cancer doesn’t discriminate and can strike us all at any time. I had the pleasure of seeing Margaret perform on the spit at the Gold Coast in the most amazing setting. Close your eyes and smell the sea air, feel the warm temperatures and listen to her amazing vocal with friends and that can’t be beat! RIP Margaret!
i am now 75 and this song can still bring tears to my eyes remembering those days and times . GREAT Kiwi music. RIPS Margaret - we still have your voice
I saw you perform back in the day at the Great Northern Hotel after living most of 1989 abroad, the world was a whole lot simpler but you made it that much nicer. I even took photo's of you at your gig - your publicist was not happy about that, however I did promise her I would never share them on any media and I kept my promise for 33 years such was my respect for you. A rare talent and a phenomenal voice, RIP MU.
Sitting in hospital on a nostalgic trip when you find out through you tube comments that a most talented singer is gone. Yet lives on forever in melody and song and our hearts. Goodbye for now M. Heartbroken 💔
