I took 2 years off for this very reason; just now catching up to myself again energetically when it comes to career and financial success ; but grinding just isn’t for me anymore. These types of seasons are always a little unsettling because you want to be present, but your mind wants to think and plan for the next season so much 🤪. Currently, I'm trying to just be patient and allow myself to lean into my different interests, in the hopes that something I haven't considered will be revealed. Thanks for the creative director rec! I'm so clueless about different corporate options out there and am low-key still traumatized from the three years I was corporate, but I was doing sales and that is probably why it was such a dark time. I took a year extra to finish uni (crying), and i felt so frustrated and not enough at the time, but now i really appreciate the oportunity to slow down and i am falling in love with my career again. I also left a social group that was very toxic and now i'm hanging out with my childhood friends. The girls met on fridays for dinner and wine (and to watch temptation island) and saturdays the whole group cooks together a dinner we previously choose and watch a movie. It's so nice, it's giving me life. I really feel myself again after a few bad years and it feels very good 🥺

I also have a long distance bestie like you and shelby and we both love following you which is a great way to connect! I appreciate your convo about dealing with the hopelessness, I work in social work and it can be really exhausting!
I actually haven't been having many ups and downs recently, despite the external things in my life being "bad" rn (literally not even meeting my basic needs right now, aka no running water, no oven, no heat in MN when it's been ~32 degrees at night). Instead of focusing on processing everything that's happening in the world right now, I try to focus on processing the warmth of the sun on my cheeks, the vibrant blue skies & pink clouds at sunset, my puppy bouncing through the fields of waist-high grasses, etc. If you're trying to feel deeply like this, you need to let go of whatever's blocking you from experiencing the feeling of pure gratitude. I'm not talking just thinking about what you know you're grateful for, but actually feeling that gratitude in your body as much & as often as possible. EDIT: To clarify, this is the first time in my life that I've felt this. It's taken years (decades, possibly?) of slowing down & just never giving up on the internal work, and really deeply figuring out what I value & what I want my life to look like.
Glad you are taking your time figuring out what you want to do, truly that is the best thing you can do and the right thing will come to you in God's perfect timing!

I’ve been taking a break bc I was in undergrad for 7 years. I recently moved to LA and I’m kinda having a crisis bc I don’t know what to do with my life and questioning if I went to school for the right thing lol. My partner and I are staying with my parents until we find an apartment, hopefully by the end of this year. I bought 5 self help books so I think that shows where i am at mentally 😂 LA is just a massive place (I’m from the Bay Area) so it’s equal parts exciting bc I discover new places all the time when I have the energy but also quite lonely. Idk if I just shared too much oops have a nice day everyone

You should try taking the Amtrak from San Diego to Santa Barbara for a mini trip! He can get on the same train in LA. It's so much fun! I went to college in Santa Barbara and taking the Amtrak was one of my favorite things.
