It's the extent of Yuja's repertoire that amazes me. I didn't even know that this arrangement by Rachmaninov even existed, and yet Yuja has effortlessly (it seems) incoporated it into her already vast repertoire . . .

Great mix! Seamless switch between Yuja and the orchestra! Bravo!!
Yes it is speedy with orchestra part hasten probably to sync up to Yuja's tempo. Nevertheless, I still enjoy it and appreciate the efforts put into creating this video.

I don't know about that, but for me, she's the best i've heard along with Horovitz.
His Träumerei and her Chopin waltz are the most perfectly played pieces i've ever heard.

Gergiev is a demanding conductor and always tries to extract something extra from his performance. So does Yuja. Every performance is a search for a fresh and truer interpretation from the last.

    Merci pour le post, Michel.

The tempo is changed a little bit. Gergiev's original tempo is a little slower than Yuja's.

Unfortunately nowhere mentioned is the composer ! Could that be Hector Berlioz ? (Eight months later i discovered that the composer's names [Mendelssohn/Rachmaninoff] are written on the video itself, at the start.)

Ludicrously fast. To the point of the rhythm collapsing. A sad trend in all classical music performances nowadays. It's ok to push things a bit, but not to the point where the pulse is lost and replaced by a desperate attempt to keep up under stress.

Fingerhorn4 - As far as your comment, you are the only person here with a true sense of musical hearing. This performance is horrendous, to say the least. Nobody played the notes as a unity. It was a totally disastrous performance and a horrible arrangement (by a brainless pseudo musician) of the pure and pristine original.
