will the outliers cause a flawed normal distribution curve?

Yes. And outliers can also deviate mean and standard deviation resulting in an erroneous inference.

Not useful when you have thousands of outliers, excel needs to create a feature where you can just click to remove outliers.

It is a researcher's decision whether to continue with some outliers or not. So auto outliers removal is not a good choice. Researcher should remove outliers one or maximum 2 at a time and re-run analysis. Removing multiple outliers at the same time is not a good idea. Hope this helps.
