  • SC on July 10 ruled that divorced Muslim women can seek alimony from ex-husbands under section 125 of CrPC. Just like Shah Bano case verdict, this SC order strengthens divorced women’s rights to seek alimony under CrPC. Hailing the decision, BJP leaders claimed the SC decision ‘erases Rajiv Gandhi’s regressive legacy’. The Rajiv Gandhi-led government in 1986 gave a ‘go ahead’ to Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act.

If anyone is in opposition to SC verdict may go to those Countries where the question of alimony does not exist after talak or divorce.

No ,If after divorce that woman marry again then that compensation will be cancelled।
Only after divorce if that woman remain single then her ex husband have to give her compensasion।This is already in Indian penal code for Hindus ,buddhist Sikh ,Jain ,Christian women।Now muslim women will get this facility

First and foremost, according to shariah law a divorce woman is not entitle to any alimony excluding children maintainance which a father must pay( children maintainance). It now depends on the Muslim woman whether they want to obey Allah's command or others command.

The BJP has consistently used the UCC issue as a tool to polarize voters.
The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is an impracticable form of uniformity that cannot be imposed on the people of a country with diverse backgrounds.
After a detailed analysis and well-substantiated arguments in his book titled “Uniform Civil Code, A Critical Study”, the late Padma Bhushan Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, rightly concludes that Article 44 of the Constitution has no legal meaningfulness or ethical
value. It was just a piece of imagination by certain minds. It should be eliminated from the constitution just as the useless appendix may be removed from the human body by means of an operation when it proves inimical to good health.
Mr. Golwalkar’s views on UCC are worth noting here. He remarked: “Nature abhors uniformity, which is the death-knell of nations. I’m all for the protection of various ways of life, but variety must supplement the nation’s unity and not range itself against it.”
