Do the glasses support playing 3D SBS/OU movies in an MKV container? What player do I need for this? No Skybox VR Player for Android.
I occasionally use the Kodi app, play videos from a UPnP/Samba server. Would it be possible to use Kodi with Rokid Max and would Kodi detect the 3D signal and send the correct 3D image to the glasses?

Does the 2D to 3D mean it switches between content done in those formats, or that it can change 2D into simulated 3D?
Also a killer facility would be to have a camera above each lens, allowing people to make their own 3D content, & eventually 3D interactive content.

I don't understand how Rokid glasses are different from normal VR headsets. I learned that they are not capable of tracking you correctly in 6dof. I would like to use them to play Steam-VR games. Does it work? What is missing? *NOTE: I know about the awesome AR features, but here I am asking about using them for playing Steam-VR games.*

    • @RokidGlobal
      @RokidGlobal  Год назад +2

Hey it may not work as Rokid Glasses only support 3DoF. So the main use cases for our glasses are mirroring experience on the go: movies, gaming, productivity. And we do offer some basic AR games if you have a compatible Android phone.

if you are looking for compact VR perhaps you might want to look "into big screen vr" touted as the worlds smallest VR headset. thrillseeker does some good coverage of it.
personally im looking for AR that's compact and mobile and im hoping these may be the thing im after. however, im unsure how the AR will work. im really looking for a screen i can see a passthrough of irl, and simultaneously cast a screen to a specific space in my real world environment.
as far as productivity and relaxation on the go goes.. i think AR is the way forward.
mobile/compact VR is slowly becoming a thing, but its a separate space.
note i am a fairly hardcore vr user myself, with thousands of hours in vr titles!
(please don't pollute AR with janky VR.) then again, i see a crossover between the two technologies.
also, a certain vr social platform is going mobile... so i would assume if it works on android, it would work on a product like this.
and if you are willing to mod your way into your dreams, someone out there has technically managed to run beatsaber from a phone!
the difference as i see it:
AR is for productivity and mixing reality and virtual/digital projections.
VR is for deep immersion, being launched into an environment so immersive some people can feel the things they touch.
i have experienced vr environments personally as immersive as if you stepped into an avatar movie itself. VR is mostly a living room/home comfort thing, whereas AR is more focused on augmenting what you already see, overlaying digital onto real space. like a funny figurine dancing on a table, a screen projected onto your wall, or product/item info on boxes.
i could add a final note, that if you were looking for true VR like experience, you "may" and keyword ont he maybe, be able to mod using a HTC vive tracker strapped to your head, be able to create a sort of 6DoF sense. and if you wait for summer 2023 HTC are releasing a new kind of tracker that works without expensive seperate "lighthouses/base stations"
i hope i could provide some useful info.

Hey, we use a special film technique that block 90% of the front lens light leakage which means people can not see what you are watching from outside - hence privacy is way now better.

    • @hotguy00tj
      @hotguy00tj Год назад +1

Thought the same as you, but after I owned a pair of nreals, I noticed that the bird's eye crystal (the protruding crystal behind the frame's crystals) causes the seemingly remaining lower section to become unusable because the border of the bird's eye being closer than the frame's crystal forces your eyes to constantly have to re-focus your vision when switching between the upper and lower sections by looking up and down... Whereas with Rokid on the other hand, the crystal where you're seeing through looks uniform. It's a bit hard to explain, but essentialy with nreal you feel a bit of a blockage in your eyes, whilst with Rokid you don't have this problem; and due to all of this, the seemingly extra section of the nreals is mostly unusable.

*Whoever came up with the first design should be fired and never allowed to design any tech ever again.*
*They look ridiculous like Geordie La Forge from Star Trek.*
*And the only colors you could choose from was red and gray.*
*Any tech should have basic black as a color and then maybe white but every other color should be secondary not primary.*
*No one goes out to buy a red TV.*
*And you can tell they still messed up on the design because the black out cover looks more like shades or glasses when covering the still ugly design.*

BUYER BEWARE!!!! - Read this before buying
I currently have no problems with the Rokid Max glasses. I have had problems and concerns with the company not only having misleading information about the product but providing zero response to my support questions and needing to return the wireless display adapter. When I emailed the company about the purchase of the product, their response was within 24 hours. When I emailed the company support about issues I was having-which I did on four occasions-I still have not received a response to answer my actual questions.
Bottom line is that if you have a device that has a USB-C display port output, which include the devices on their approved list, things should work as presented. I would make sure that you can use the Rokid Max glasses as you desire and that you have a device that can support them. I wanted the glasses for travel media streaming and as you will see below, this isn’t possible in many situations.
    Android Phones:
    - The Goovis wireless adapter is not compatible with Android 13 and does not work. I was able to get it to work with an older Android version (10), but the bottom line is:
You will never be able to use the Goovis wireless adapter to stream any videos from popular services like Netflix, Hulu, Max, Prime, Disney, ... because these apps will not allow you to cast to any device that isn't on the same wireless network for security reasons. Since the Android device must be connected to the Goovis MiraCast, the Netflix like services only play the sound and not the video content.
YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO STREAM ON POPULAR APPS (e.g. Netflix) WITH THE WIRELESS ADAPTER.
-If you have an Android device that has the capability of a display port output, then you can plug the glasses directly into the USB-C port of the device and stream movies. I tested this and it works on a Samsung S22 phone.
    Apple Devices:
    - You can use the Goovis wireless adapter, and it worked for me on my iPad, but you will not be able to stream any videos from the popular video service apps like Netflix, for the same reasons above.
    - You can plug the glasses directly into an Apple device if it has a USB-C port (which my iPad does) and then use the "Stage Manager" feature that will allow you see your streamed video content. This is not a screen mirror capability, but it will work for seeing and hearing video content on the Rokid Max glasses.
I have still not heard back from Rokid about how to return their useless display port adapter :-(
