But over time, this empire also collapsed too, first turning into the great Hungarian kingdom, and then becoming the smaller Hungarian state of today.
I'm Hungarian and some of the words in this song I wouldn't have understood without the English subtitles to be honest. xD First of all, this is veeeeery old Hungarian, and I believe some sort of regional dialect must definitely be involved in it. F.ex. the word "Lóding" obviously came from "Loading" but I've never ever heard/read this word from anyone until now and especially without this song's context if someone said this word I'd associate it with "loading a game" and not the "charge of a rifle". Very interesting how some of the words we incorporated from other languages didn't stick, while there are thousands of words we still use that clearly have Germanic / Ottoman / Slavic origins. Nowadays it is very rare not to understand another Hungarian as our language is very standardized compared to others where regional dialects can definitely be an issue. But even those lines I understood very well in Hungarian, sometimes I would not have been able to translate them properly into English and the subs I saw didn't quite fit either. It is not an easy thing to translate POETRY from Hungarian and I don't envy those who have to do this on a daily basis with more complex texts.
@@boomerix Well, out of the 2, the latter is more useful for our everyday lives as languages are constantly developing. Many words you use, used to be slang at one point when they developed in your language / taken over from another language. ^^
@@punkodie Yeah...naahh. I don't feel like there is much value from talking like a prole or gypsie and the people I can't understand usually fall into those categories.
Yeah, in the UK there are lots of very strong accents but not many dialects. So in terms of words, usually if you can't understand someones words it means that they're a chav or a gypsy (or foreign but that doesn't count for the sake of this argument.) I hate chavs, and I'm not a gypsy. I'd be more happy to take words from actual foreigners.

They established a huge empire in Asia, but this empire was destroyed by the Chinese, then they had to emigrate under the pressure of the Chinese and came to Europe and established a huge empire here (Attila the Great era). But over time, this empire also collapsed too, first turning into the great Hungarian kingdom, and then becoming the smaller Hungarian state of today.
@@muratsahin2246 Nice fairytale. Look at the genetic makeup of modern Hungarians.
Cum Deo pro patria et libertate!

Pro Deus quod licentia
Nem vagy egyedül
I think you just need to read more older books. I have more trouble understanding the weird slang words the young people come up with.
So in terms of words, usually if you can't understand someones words it means that they're a chav or a gypsy (or foreign but that doesn't count for the sake of this argument.)
I hate chavs, and I'm not a gypsy. I'd be more happy to take words from actual foreigners.
a small correction in the translation from a hungarian guy:
Nemzetsèg means something like tribe or clan but not really “race”
otherwise good translations more or less.
greetings from Hungary.
Nation would be even better for nemzetség. "race" would be a very technical biology term.
