This is the same feeling people had when the Yankees got Gerrit Cole. This is the same feeling people had when the Yankees got Carlos Rodon. How many times have the Yankees won it all since those moves? In order for them to be a new dynasty, they need to win and win A LOT.

The Yankees will always be the Yankees to me. Bandwagon yankee fans think the Yankees can possibly just lose their historical value because of the direction and trend the MLB is taking. 27 world championships. 61 total hall of famers. 40 AL pennants. Most franchises don’t even have 60 all stars historically or 27 winning seasons. We just went to 4 ALCS series in 6 years and had 3 guys from the minor leagues make the all star team their rookie years, Gary Sanchez judge Luis severino. For me being a yankee fan isn’t about the winning. It’s about how we win and the culture that is the most exiting thing in sports in the world.

We watched them snatch up Ohtani and then grab the big boy from Tampa. Now they’re putting on a full court press with Ohtani, Betts and Freeman wooing Yamamoto. If they add him to their existing stable they’ll build a dynasty that won’t be unseated for awhile. They are owning this offseason.

The 09 Yankees won with dominant offense, 1 ace, a reasonably solid bullpen, and good enough starting pitching depth. Other than Melky Cabrera, their entire starting lineup was players with a 118 or higher OPS+. Other than Nick Swisher, everyone had at least a .274 batting average. Adjusting for leaguewide batting average changes, the Yankees 2023 team would've needed to have 8 players at .260 or higher to match. They had 2, and nobody higher than .274.
They don't need bullpen help. They don't need a megastar starter. They need 2 starters that are 10% better than league average, and they need players that are going to hit the baseball. This is what a team in 2023 comparable to the 09 Yanks in modern times would look like.

Round out the bp with pieces Matt Blake likes and that's a fierce team to play against. It’s always funny to me that fans think the Yankees are these big time spenders because they have more money than everyone else. When in reality they don’t have nearly the richest owner in the sport. Don’t get mad at the Yankees for spending money, be mad at your team for being cheap. Also I wouldn’t consider the time since 2010 being a laughing stock at all. Actually very successful compared to most teams in the league. I know it’s way ahead of your time but the 80’s and early 90’s were truly atrocious years for the Yankees. This stint doesn’t even compare. And they had the same exact owner….

As much as I want Yamamoto to be a Yankee, that is an unknown commodity. Yes, he dominates in Japan. Yes, he did well in international play, but the one guy I would like to see the Yankees go after and no one and I mean no one is talking about this guy is Julio Urias. He is an absolute stellar, consistent, lefty pitcher who has carried that Dodgers rotation for many years. He’s young. He doesn’t have a huge injury record and he probably could be gotten for a decent price. He deserves a really big contract but he probably won’t get as much as some other guys. Definitely won’t get as much as Yamamoto, I think it’s a given to most people that he’s going to stay in LA but I genuinely think if the Yankees could get him and Yamamoto or another big free agent, they could be propelled to definitely be the favorite from the American League I really don’t understand why no one brings this up

Adding Soto and Verdugo make their 2024 lineup look better, but there are cricket sounds coming from their pitching staff both at MLB and MiLB levels. Getting Soto for 1 year doesn't increase their chances of signing him long term. He's a Boras "I'm hitting FA as hard as I can" client.

I get the Astros owning the Yankees stuff, but the Red Sox have certainly not “flipped the script” with the Yankees. Boston has come in last place 3 of the last 4 years, and 6 times since 2012, and is clearly a second-tier franchise since they traded Mookie Betts. That franchise is in quicksand right now and will likely finish in last in the AL East again this year.

Hold your horses. Just because they got Juan Soto thay doesnt mean shit period. That Pitching rotation is really bad, however the Juan Soto Signing serves as a serious wake up call to Nestor, and Carlos Rodon. They got their trade target yes, but it dont mean shit if their pitching and bullpen is an ABSOLUTE disaster, oh and it doesn't change the fact that Houston still own the fuck out of the Yankees(This is coming from a Yankees Fan)

I wouldn't say the Yankees post 2009 are a joke. By regular season performance, they are second only to the Dodgers during that time frame. But by the barometer of October success that George and the fan base judges them on, they have certainly not lived up to expectations. And the problem has mostly been using role players to fill roles that used to be filled by stars or superstars. A Yankee team needs at least 3-4 star level bats and at leasts 2 star level pitchers. For the past few years given Stanton's disappointment, its pretty much just Judge and Cole that fit that bill. Gleyber,. Rizzo, DJ, even Stanton could be fine complementary pieces if there were 2-3 other star or superstar level players.

Yankees have been knocked down a few pegs and their fans hate it. Gone are the days of the dynasty, in 21st century baseball more and more clubs have the resources to compete with NY. Literally the WS champs Texas Rangers play in Arlington Texas which is NOT the same market as far as exposure and prominence as NewYork City has, and yet they are the champions. The playing field has been leveled.

Yeah? How'd that work out for the Padres? The only thing Soto has done between a World Series at 20 and now is....wait, has he even gotten his team into the playoffs? 2019 World Series with the Nationals, 2020 with Washington, no playoff, 2021 with Washington, no playoffs, 2022 with Washington and San Diego, he joined Padres with 52 games left made the playoffs, but the Padres were likely to make it anyway...2023 total bust, with Padres and no playoffs. So out of 5 years? This is the answer to the Yankees drought?

That's what everyone said when they got Stanton. Then again when they got Cole. Again when they Rizzo. And again last year when they got Rodon. In that time span they have, I believe ... ZERO titles. Bringing in Soto isn't going to change key players always getting hurt or the fact that, other than Cole, the entire pitching staff is average at best.
