Honestly, Aaron Judge’s return might not be as impactful as we think. Also, if a team depends on one player like this, you know they’re not a playoff team.
2023 has just been a crazy baseball season. Most of the teams you expected to be dominant or really good just haven't. While under dog teams have come out and surprised us all. Goes to show baseball is an ever unpredictable and crazy fun sport to watch.
On game 3 the Angels called up a starting pitcher from their AAA to save some arm. He went 5.1 IP, 1 R, 10 K 🤡 they made minor league pitchers playoff ready
You wouldn't think that the Halos were a team that just took a losing streak into the ASG (the Dodgers had their number for the past 5+ years). Trout got on the IL again, Rendon is still out, and their new shortstop Neto was just back from injury. So they were forced to make do with the players they had and the players they could call up. The Yankees, on the other hand, appear to be operating under the definition of insanity, which is easy to do in baseball. This is supposed to be a team with some of the best players in the major leagues, and the _Angels_ beat them without Mike Trout in their lineup.

As a lifelong Yankee fan, I can confirm pretty much everything said in this video. I actually stopped paying attention to them a couple weeks back - mostly for reasons unrelated to the team's performance - but it sounds like it's been a good couple of weeks to miss. You are correct that they need to be torn apart, starting at the top with the GM - but also with the overall hitting philosophy promoted by the organization. It's not working. Period.
We are in the same boat. I have been distracted with work, yet don't feel like I missing anything (and this is even though I missed the perfect game while at work).
I refuse to root for the Yankees while Boone and Cashman are at the helm. I actually hope they keep losing so it forces Hal to completely wipe the slate clean, rather than firing one meaningless coach every now and again. I know there are tons of fans who are all "classic Yankee fans crying about a team that's still 3 games above .500", but for anyone who has actually watched this team as of late, the A's AAA team would stand a serious chance of competing with us. This is a sloppy, mismanaged, and hastily put-together team where Cashman absolutely refuses to admit that this team is not going anywhere
@@j-wilk4835 I agree with literally all of that. Even when I was watching/listening to games this year, it was just becoming less and less enjoyable to do so. It wasn't so much that they were losing lots of games - it was the *way* they lost. Their offense was so consistently pathetic (with zero situational hitting ability) that a 2-0 deficit would feel like a 7-0 deficit. Just very boring and lackluster baseball. At this point I too hope they continue to burn, so that there's at least a chance Hal makes sweeping changes. But sadly I wouldn't be surprised if he still didn't. Cashman and Boone feel like Hal's family at this point, given that changes haven't already happened.
@@j-wilk4835 Dude, I agree. They need a cold, hard dose of reality in the form of a losing season if they want to ever do more than lose to the Astros in the playoffs.

You should do a video on the Orioles, two years ago they lost 100 games and now they're in 1st place in the AL East post-All Star break for the first time since 2016.
As a Yankees fan, everyone should’ve been able to tell since week 1 that they weren’t about to be anything without Judge. All of the youngins were HOT for a week and then promptly cooled off. Literally, if they had kept all the people that were run outta NY, they probably would’ve been a better team. Because their replacements are doing NO BETTER.

As an Orioles fan I remember being genuinely happy when they re-signed Boone after the 2021 season. Making the playoffs that year was actually the worst thing that coulda happened to them. They were probably the streakiest team of all time that somehow stumbled into the playoffs, and that playoff appearance was enough for the front office to extend Boone. I can't speak for Sox, Jays, and Rays fans but I think they were also perfectly fine with the Yankees making the playoffs that year if it meant Boone would stick around.
As a Sox fan, this. And I had the same reaction when they signed Judge this offseason; he's a great, if not the best, player in MLB....when healthy. As much as people try to pretend that isn't a factor, the guy is the anchor in an all or nothing lineup that only has a chance of getting going if he's in. He's had 2 fully healthy seasons since 2017...but lets pretend he's not injury prone, right? That contract is going to bite them for the next 10 years.
@@ghislaindoiron8123He’s not even injury prone though when you dig into it. His two biggest injury stints by far were a broken wrist due to being hit by a pitch and now a toe issue running into a wall. I would consider injury prone things like running the bases and tweaking something. He hasn’t missed much time at all for anything like that.
The Yankkes and their fans can learn a lot from the Braves, the Reds, and my O'S. They've been spoiled to the point of not understanding how to rebuild a successful organization from within. They're still trying to play 90s baseball, and it shows.
It's not the fans. The fans don't rebuild a team, the Yankees do. The fans have wanted changes for years, have wanted the Yankees to implement their prospects into the team rather than bring in over priced vets who are past their prime, or even players in their prime who are demanding huge contracts. The problem is the yankees, as you hinted to, but not the fans.
I remember when the Yankees had like 1 lineup for each RHP and LHP and almost everyone was consistent. It feels like Boone doesn't know what to do at this point. Judge as a 2nd hitter, Torres sometimes as a leadoff, Volpe as a 5th hitter last game, it's just crazy.
Yankee fan here. After every inning I watch them I tell myself I should stop watching for my mental health. Of course, I keep torturing myself by watching every mistake in the field, followed up with no offense to really twist the knife in the fans' chests. The anger I once had watching them has gradually transformed into nervous laughter.
I was told by someone that the stupid sponsor patch on the pinstripes wasn't about trashing long tenured traditions. It is more about heralding new traditions. I see it going along with the also new tradition of languishing in last place. We should've gotten Chico's Bail Bonds as a sponsor, and made a frickin movie about this team!!
I was perfectly CLEAR last year when I said the Yankees SUCK without Judge. Nobody listened to me..or were you just in denial and didn’t want to accept the truth?
Yankees and last place is truly music to my ears, lets go AL Beast! Idc who wins lets just decide as a division to not allow the Yankees to leave last place. In exchange I will root for all 4 teams with a passion unlike anything you’ve ever seen. I like that plan for the remainder of 2023
Don’t speak too soon, Judge just got reinstated and the Yankees are only 2.5 games out of a WC spot. You realize what they have right? Nobody should want to face them in the playoffs. They have starting rotation as good as anyone, especially in a playoff series, and probably the best bullpen. They can match up with anyone. Not to mention they will probably make a few trades at the deadline
Kinda crazy that there's really only a few teams performing as expected, makes for an exciting season. I think the Braves and Brewers are the only ones who really fit preseason predictions. Braves are tearing it up, and the crew is currently 10 games over .500, which I feel is about how good everyone thought they would be. Dodgers are about as good as we expected too, but they've been winning in different ways than usual (really bad starting pitching most of the year, but still stringing it together). lmk if I missed any teams. I guess the Rockies, Nats, Pirates, A's and Royals are all performing as expected, but the Royals and A's are even worse than we all thought.
I only heard commentary predicting a strong year for the Texas Rangers before the season due to all their acquisitions. Seems to be on the mark so far. Not sure they were predicted to lead the division all year (over the Astros no less) but there they are.
The tigers are as bad as I thought they would be too, and I’m a tigers fan. They get a spot next to the nats and pirates. If it wasn’t for the central being so awful they would be a truly terrible team.

The Yankees simply put are not that good, year after year they are basically given the title without earning it. Cole has been excellent, no other pitcher on the staff has done much. The offense is completely missing. The defense is sketchy.
Same here as an Astros fan. I like even more that the Orioles and Rays who are in the bottom 5 in payroll in the MLB are on top of the AL East, while the Yankees are on the bottom.

Colin Cowherd said it best for me, the Yankees should be performing but the coach shouldn't be the one to blame. The front office is making bank with nearly sold out stadiums every day and they're content with trash lineups and players as long as they keep up their profit margins. Things need to change, it's sad this might be the first time the Yankees end the season under .500 in my lifetime
There's still a whole two months of baseball to go so I doubt the Yankees finish below .500 but their future is bleak. I'm Orioles fan, so I don't know nor care for whomever is in A-ball for The Bronx but it doesn't look promising. Just speaking from a baseball-first perspective
Harper wasn't gonna go quietly with that clean-shaven Yankee demand, which is ridiculous these days. Donaldson tried his best to spread juice thru the moment & the man, thru his teammates....as Judge took his HR trot, but......eh. Yeah, they all net him near home plate, but it was definitely a lack of real excitement, pretty typical of this Yankee team, and again, I say it's largely because they have no real characters...guys who relish being on the big stage diamond, with major league equipment, instead of the second-hand stuff on Dominican & Cuban teams, particularly the Black side of town. As a Yankee fan, you nailed it, this team is possibly the biggest disaster in New York sports if it weren't for the Mets. Good news for the rest of the world, they're probably not gonna fire their GM even if they did this for another 10 years.
Yes it does. You win in baseball by getting 27 outs. and batting for a low average, means you are more likely to make outs, and are an easy out in clutch situations.
It’s pretty common for the public to overestimate teams that performed well in the season prior. It doesn’t help when the guy who single-handedly transformed the team from a wild card contender to a 99 win powerhouse in 2022 misses tons of time, though.
What's with the Yanks and CF. Things tend to start out well but go downhill. Granderson, Hicks, now Bader. It's just a little strange. All I can really remember of Granderson's time was his constant adjustments on making routine fly ball catches. Almost like he couldn't really see the ball. Thanks for Hicks btw Yanks.
As a Yankee fan, I actually predicted that the Yankees would struggle to make the playoffs this year. Donaldson, Stanton, Lemahieu and Rizzo are all clearly in permanent physical decline. The Rays, Orioles and Blue Jays are at least as talented as the Yankees and the Yankees never live up there expectations because of their horrible player health.
It's true and it sucks. I love baseball and I love the Yankees but they have failed so much this season it feels like a non-season. Bring on football at this point
What is definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over, expecting new result. Keeping Cashman and Aaron Boone expecting new results. It’s time to fire 🔥 Cashman and Aaron Boone their process isn’t winning championships
Probably the biggest issue for the Yankees is that the AL East is a beast. There’s really no room for error and one bad stretch can put you out of contention.
When the Yanks lose, we say they suck, but do the musicians in an orchestra suck when their playing outta time, or is it the time keeper we call the Conductor ? A manager is a conductor. The players are all great with their instruments, but it's up to the manager to get them to play together or find the chemistry that works. After that it's up to him to maintain it.
When I heard “At the Speedforce”playing, I realized what the Yankees only solution was. Go back in time and convince George to never let Hal become owner of the Yankees.
As a casual blue jays fan/mlb enjoyer, i ve been afraid to look at the standings for a while cause i thought the jays have been downright horrible, and i havent really followed anyof the other teams in the division, so finally looking at the standings i feel alittle better now that i see the yanks at the bottom
Players should probably stop practicing their post home run dance routine and hand slap at training and concentrate on playing the game... Team is a disaster
How many world series has the Yankees won since the beginning of the century? 2. How many since 2010? 0. But don't worry, the players got paid well, and Cashman is just that, a man who spends cash.
All I feel is pain for this team. No matter how much they excite, they find ways to take it away from you. The only reason that the Yankees stay good is because they have money. The Rays stay good because they actually have a smart front office. The Orioles are good this season due to the prospects finally living up to expectation. The Red Sox are not afraid to strip down the team and retool once a window is closing to go for the future. The Blue jays have been mediocre for a long time and have found Vladdy and gotten a good core around him to start competing again. Only the Yankees who say "Have to win WS or bust" is carried by their FA. They took the wrong lesson from the 90s dynasty. They should have seen how stripping it down, getting good scouting to find amazing prospects, letting them develop, and then signing FA leads to a WS. I can only hope they make a miracles comeback in the 2nd half or understand they should blow it up.
Judge is just a younger Stanton. He is already injury prone and it’ll just get worse. And if Casey walked up to me and tried to give me advice. I’d laugh in his face.
I think it’s hilarious. Just watch 2 seconds of their pregame show. They wear suits & talk all “proper”. The whole organization still thinks they’re a top team & better than everyone. Loosen up. It’s baseball.
These are not the guys. Tear it all down. The offense has been the reason they get eliminated every year since 2015. They do not score in the big moment...over and over and over and over again
What’s funnier to think about is all the money bags who actually make the calls for the yanks and the panic they must be feeling. All that money into players absolutely choking. Cash out of their pockets is popcorn into my mouth watching this disaster 🍿
@@justadude2800true. Choosing Stanton over Bryce Harper and then doing it again with IKF over Correa is unforgivable. That is what ruined the Yankees shot at title success.
@@riotgamerz1605 even if it wasn’t Correa, Seager was right there. The Yankees could always use a lefty for that short porch in right. What these "experts" failed to realize is that after their 49-16 start last year, they went 50-47 (which is also their current record this season) the rest of the way, had a Guardians team take them to the brink in the ALDS due to bullpen collapses, and of course got swept by the Astros in the ALCS. Obviously, I didn't expect them to be only a few games over .500 at this point in the season, but the signs of this potentially happening were right there for all of us to see, but were ignored because of the signing of Rodon. Injuries definitely played a part in their struggles, but when you really take a look at this lineup, they're batting .230 as a team, they were using Josh Donaldson as their DH (a guy who is batting under .150) before he got injured, every single pitcher in their starting rotation (except for Cole of course) have ERAs of 4 or higher (even IKF has a better ERA than that), and Aaron Judge is still leading the team in all three triple crown categories despite missing half the season.
True but they’d expect losing Gallo, Hicks, and adding guys like Bader and Volpe to make the difference. Thing is, Bader has been good (despite some injuries) and Volpe looks promising, but he still needs to develop. It’s guys like Rizzo, DJ, Stanton who haven’t stepped up this year which is why they are in the spot they are. It’s a different reason than last season. Donaldson contract is also terrible but that ends this season; I expect the Yankees to play and depend on their young guys and farm talent more next season to minimize payroll. Yankee haters will not like this but as long as they have guys like Judge and Cole they will stay relevant.
Idk. I saw nothing from this team! Absolutely nothing! Strikeout hitters in your lineup! Stanton has sucked, Torres is inconsistent, Donaldson is still playing, Rizzo has hit rock bottom fast! DJ is horrible nowadays. Let’s be real. This offense was really never good to start with. It hasn’t been since 18. You have had this same lineup that has done nothing. You have rookies too, that aren’t developed yet. You guys need to blow it up!! Bring your kids up and run with them. Your veterans are dog water!
The biggest problem with the Yankees is that they think they can just throw money at the problem while neglecting their young talent. Add the fact that they're a complete different team when Judge is gone and you can see why the Yankees are in the spot they're in now. If they keep this up, they will find themselves in a position that would cripple the franchise for years to come, as an Os fan, it's hilarious but rather sad they just refuse to fix the problem properly instead of just writing checks all day
Yankees could be following the footsteps of the Orioles after the mid-90s. We did the same thing and it set us back for 20 years. I'm as you, I am happy of this alternate universe BUT it wouldn't feel as rewarding without beating down a full strength Yankees team
It's pretty easy to bet on the success of the Yankees after a month. If it appears that they have no depth, it's probably going to be a rough season. With how Cashman operates, this means they usually need 1-2 guys to overperform. The fact that the starting 9 is overall pretty weak, it was hard to see them dominating a tough division. Injuries just further exacerbated the issue.
This Yankees team will be the only one in history not to win a World Series championship in the same year they had a perfect game. They’re likely not making the playoffs. It’s pathetic with all these millionaires on this team.

You know It’s gotten bad when the Astros have not only surpassed the Yankees as the team universally hated by MLB fans. We’re at the point where most of the country pulling for the Yankees in the LCS.
Crazy how 6 seasons is considered long for a manager now. It’s not, and firing Boone won’t do anything. This team is just plain underperforming. They’re walking proof that money doesn’t buy rings. Good operations and the right ppl get rings, not the most expensive
The Yankees have what I like to call "Dallas Cowboys Syndrome" or "DCS" for sort. DCS occurs when a team that has been historically great, losses the star players that made the great in the first place. For many teams, losing your best players is a natural part of a team's life; they have a few rough seasons, but then they rebuild and get better. However, teams with DCS have a massive fanbase and entitled owner that expect to contend for a championship every year. Simply put, having a rebuild year is not an option. The team will try to compensate for their departed talent by luring in big-name free agents with massive contracts. In some cases, a free agent works out well... but for the most part, bringing in aging talent is guaranteed to result in diminishing returns. Since the team is committed to the players with the massive contracts, the younger guys are never really given a chance to develop. The pieces never come together at the right time. The end result is that the team is stuck in a purgatory where they are never the worse than average, but they are never serious contenders either... and they are incapable of changing that.
Just because you put on a Yankee's uniform, that does not automatically make you a good player. The early predictions are so hilarious. Its not like the other teams in the east are trash, they're not.
Just finished the video . How did you make it through the entire thing and not mention the absolute disaster that is Brian cashman ? He has wasted more money then mike Tyson! He NEVER hets blamed and he has been the GM since 2000 . In that time they have won 1 WS and failed consistently and every roster is the same ( hello high strikeout , middle of the road OBP, low BA, bad defense , and subpar pitching when it’s needed . But you get those regular season HR I guess ). He also only signs players that are over 30 and on the downside of there careers . And name me a prospect he has brought through the system OTHER then cano and judge ! He is absolutely terrible at his job and never gets the blame !
A couple of things going on here. 1. Aaron Boone is a puppet. He basically just says and does whatever the people in the higher-ups tell him to do. 2. Hal Steinbrenner is not his father at all. The late George Steinbrenner wanted to win and make money. Hal is just an accountant/business guy whose whole plan is to have the team be good enough to make the playoffs but is not serious enough to win. It's now late July and the team is in last place with a 1-5 record since the AS break. 3. The Yankees have a major lack of clutch hitters as well as pitchers other than Gerrit Cole. They bat guys out of order(Judge and Stanton to be specific) and aren't really interested in getting any better In a perfect world, Hal sells the team, Cashman/Boone gets fired and the team starts over and rebuilds like the 2017 Yankees team did. This is a rudderless ship and nobody in charge cares at all.
I definitely thought the Yankees would win what I assumed would be a tough division. Didn't see the Orioles being nearly as good as they have been so far,
As a Yankee fan who watches this team plays all the time - I’m still shocked at how bad this team is without Judge. Generational players are amazing but in no way shape or form should they be THAT important to a teams success.
If the Yankees wanna be a "competitor" they better start developing their talent and quit reliving the Jeter-era cos its gonna cost them a decade of relevancy. I've been following the Orioles since 2001 (at 8 years old) and we were stuck in the Ripken-era limbo for a LONG time. Now, I couldn't care less for the Yankees' shortcomings, but from baseball-first perspective, they gotta do a firesale & rebuild. The longer they wait, the more painful its gonna be down the line.
The concerning thing is Rodon. I watched the Angels game last night. His fastball with the Giants usually clocked in at 99mph. Yesterday it was like 95. I wonder what's going on.
He never threw the ball consistently 99mph. with the Giants or White Sox. The Giants play in a pitcher friendly ballpark, and Rodon is a fly ball pitcher and right now is hanging a lot of breaking balls and not controlling his Fastball.
The yankees would still lose to Houston in the ALCS! I will also say now the MLB is following the nba’s EVERYONE but the dead makes the playoffs, the urgency seems to have left the game.

Mlb players are on and off the juice. Hence the horrible season from the stars. No other sport has swings like this. Judges "injury" seemed well choreographed. Ie when matt kemp ran into a wall at coors field for some reason.
Yankee fans don’t deserve to be taken seriously, have them pitch on the mound or bat on the plate and see what they bring to the table. As a Yankee and Angels fan, it kinda brought me joy to see them get swept by the Angels because of the sole reason that they are relying on Aaron Judge to carry them all the time, and same can be said with Ohtani and Trout, which is why I think the Angels and Yankees are similar in that way where they rely on a specific player and have tons of injuries to try and come back from.
Can’t even imagine what the Yankees would look like if George Steinbrenner was still alive. Cashman gone, Boone gone, likely half the roster cut or traded.

At this point I too hope they continue to burn, so that there's at least a chance Hal makes sweeping changes. But sadly I wouldn't be surprised if he still didn't. Cashman and Boone feel like Hal's family at this point, given that changes haven't already happened.

Here's the difference: The A's are self-sabotaged by their owner & GM; the Yankees willfully sunk their team to this situation

From here on assuming the Yankees miss the postseason, winning 81 games is their “World Series”. The franchise haven’t finished below .500 since 1992.
I always thought it was a mistake to hire Aaron Boone as head coach. He just doesn't have what it takes to be one.
This team shows that batting average still matters
Yes it does. You win in baseball by getting 27 outs. and batting for a low average, means you are more likely to make outs, and are an easy out in clutch situations.
It’s pretty common for the public to overestimate teams that performed well in the season prior.
It doesn’t help when the guy who single-handedly transformed the team from a wild card contender to a 99 win powerhouse in 2022 misses tons of time, though.
That's why it's crazy they gave him such a long and expensive contract. Aaron judge getting injured is too consistent.
Yankees have basically 3-4 times the payroll that the Ray and Os have and yet those two are crushing them LOL
The whole rays payroll is Stanton and judge. And that's pushing it.😂
What's with the Yanks and CF.

Probably the biggest issue for the Yankees is that the AL East is a beast. There’s really no room for error and one bad stretch can put you out of contention.
Why is that?
When the Yanks lose, we say they suck, but do the musicians in an orchestra suck when their playing outta time, or is it the time keeper we call the Conductor ? A manager is a conductor. The players are all great with their instruments, but it's up to the manager to get them to play together or find the chemistry that works. After that it's up to him to maintain it.

@@campbellmunnThey’re season is about to end. Enjoy the Off Season.
This... does put a smile on my face
He just had a good start
THANK YOU FOR THIS I NEEDED SOME GOOD LUCK FOR THE YANKEES
The Yankees... the Padres of the east
or
The Padres... the Yankees of the west
you pick your poison
Looking forward to the yankees upcoming 20 game win streak
Lol yankees longest win streak is 3 maybe 4 games in last 1 year let alone this season.
This has been a .500 team since the all-star break last year.
Everyteam in the AL east is good and the O's and Rays are looking great.
The yankees would still lose to Houston in the ALCS!
I will also say now the MLB is following the nba’s EVERYONE but the dead makes the playoffs, the urgency seems to have left the game.
Why is that? That's lame. The Wild Card rules should've stayed the same since when it was first introduced...
I feel like I’m the smartest person on the planet rn. Apparently everybody thought the Yankees were gonna be really good this season. This lineup is nothing and was nothing without Aaron judge and he gets injured all the time. It’s shouldn’t be a surprise that they’re awful
Right
Remember when Yankee fanbase made fun of SF Giants for losing out on Aaron Judge, Correa, and taking Carlos Rodon for us… oh how the table turn now.
Mlb players are on and off the juice.
Hence the horrible season from the stars. No other sport has swings like this. Judges "injury" seemed well choreographed. Ie when matt kemp ran into a wall at coors field for some reason.
I am frankly thrilled to see the Yankees doing terribly. I often tell people my favorite team in baseball is whoever is playing the Yankees.
Astros fan her….you gotta love it.
He is turning over his grave
