    It’s not just the problem of increased rent, it’s all the fees they tack on to the base price, and then requiring people to have an income 2.5-3 times the rent. Even making $15 an hour wouldn’t let you qualify.

I rented an apartment last year during the pandemic for 1100, now you can hardly even find anything for that. If you want a decent place to live now you'll be paying about 1400 a month at minimum. Crazy watching this happen, and it is all across the country. With the economic effects from the pandemic, record inflation on the way, all the people who lost their jobs while we are also seeing record numbers of people quitting jobs and job shortages/supply shortages, it looks to me like we are all in for a bumpy ride.

      Some places do have laws, some don’t. Depends on where you are. Arizona does not have any protection laws. If your lease is up, or you are on a month to month lease, your landlord can increase the rent as much as they want. You have the option to accept the higher rent amount, or move out.

    • @cable30
      @cable30 2 года назад

      Basically it called rent control and idk how many states have it so rent does not go over a certain percentage anytime. some or many dont like it cause they say it stifles or blocks growth any as for now places and stuff but it helps so u not go homeless cause rent is up to high to pay anytime. besides the moratium cause some or many to stop paying rent even if they was able to at time. so now they have sold places to corps or just raise rent to fill gaps caused by no rent for so long.

You can STILL buy a mobile home of your own for only $100,000. That’s right, only one hundred thousand, AND that includes the land it sits on, approx. 50’x100’. Seriously, you have the Colorado River a mere walking distance away, with nine gambling casinos on the river bank across the river in Laughlin, Nevada. And we’re only 90 miles south of Vegas. Water taxi’s move people from one casino to the other, for those who don’t drive. There’s plenty of water sports (fishing, jet skies, etc.) and the best Springtime in the nation.

    When people don’t pay for over a year, prices go up. Here in CA most 1 bed apartments are $1200-1600 at the bottom of the barrel. People moving to Arizona are raising prices. Renting is a business not a charity. You can’t operate at a loss.

    And we know why we call many owner/operators: Slumlords. Often property management companies come in and raise rents and impose prison like rules.

    • @sandyrose2398
      @sandyrose2398 2 года назад +2

      It's our politicians in government who are the slum-lords. They're printing Trillions of Dollars for "infrastructure???" - causing inflation. They allowed renters (of apartments and private homes) to NOT pay rent for 17 months - hurting landlords and homeowners. Now, landlords and homeowners are raising rents to make up for their losses. Our government is responsible for destroying America.

    This is the result when you shut down an economy that didn't need to be shut down. This is the result of paying abled people unemployment-plus to stay home from work. This never should have happen. Now the property owners need to play catchup on maintenance and their own property bills. These folks shouldn't be going through this.

      The original owner perhaps sold at a loss, because it's under new management.
      The eviction moratorium forbid evicting non rent paying tenants. The property perhaps has insurmountable debt obligations, so the new owners are likely recouping losses!
      A few bad apples (non rent payers), likely spoiled it for everyone!
