    i'm going to apply to cpp this fall for music industry studies (i'll be c/o '23)! i'm hoping to get into the honors college and 4 year pledge program. does IGE take less time than regular GE classes? and if you don't have a car, is it still pretty easy to get to LA with public transport? do you feel like there are enough music/art events in Pomona? thank you so much for the tips & i hope the rest of your college experience goes well!

      Hey Emma! So happy to hear you’ll be applying to CPP :) For IGE, one thing is that there will not always be an honors version. I recommend taking a look at this semester guide (I took IGE on a quarter system) and seeing how the courses fulfill GE Areas because this would be your track as a freshman: www.cpp.edu/~ceis/interdisciplinary-general-education/Semester%20Conversion/IGE-Semester-Conversion-Guide-rev-1.18.18.pdf & catalog.cpp.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=36&poid=9592
      Keep in mind that there will still be a few areas that IGE does not cover! But I’d recommend emailing someone from IGE www.cpp.edu/~ceis/interdisciplinary-general-education/contact.shtml to see if any AP classes you took can sub for some of the courses and thus make the track a little “shorter”.
      I can’t exactly say for your LA question! I only went to LA once for a company visit, and I took uber one way and carpooled on the way back. Here is more info about the residential requirement www.cpp.edu/~housing/housing-options/freshmen-requirement.shtml
      For arts events, if you choose IGE, there are arts events requirements for every course you take, so you will get to see what CPP offers. The plays I attended (usually required for IGE) that I went to for fun were brilliant! As the year goes on you should be able to track all the arts events here www.cpp.edu/events/index.php?cat=Cultural+and+Performing+Arts#.
      But yeah there was always a play or musical advertised, and it was also great to go with the dorm when RAs made it a program to go see an on-campus play together!

    if you're an undeclared major can you still apply for the 4 year pledge if you got in as an undeclared major, but want to pursue a specific degree? because i want to major in psychology, but i got in after getting waitlisted as an undeclared major.

      Hi Bryn!! Hope you're well. Congrats on getting in. From the 4-Year Pledge page, it looks like you must be a declared major. www.cpp.edu/studentsuccess/oss/graduation-pledge/4-year-ca-promise-info.shtml. I apologize for not knowing this and clearing it up during the video. I would definitely still ask about it as soon as you declare a major. Maybe things will be different due to things being virtual now. Stay in touch!

    Is it true you have to be pell grant eligible to do the 4 year pledge?

    Do you know if I can sign up for the pledge after I declare a major because I’m undeclared right now

    • @teratalks4538
      @teratalks4538  6 лет назад +2

      Alyna Quach I just took a look at the page www.cpp.edu/~studentsuccess/oss/graduation-pledge/4-year-cpp-pledge-info.shtml and it does say entering as a declared major. If you have an idea of what you will declare, I’d suggest emailing the general bronco advising center that you can get in contact with here: www.cpp.edu/~studentsuccess/bac/ :)

    what if i’m inelligible for the pledge since I’m changing my major??

    • @teratalks4538
      @teratalks4538  6 лет назад

      I recommend contacting someone here asap www.cpp.edu/~studentsuccess/oss/graduation-pledge/contact-us.shtml as well as going to advising as soon as you get on campus - just to ask if there's anything you can do since the pledge deadline is after school starts (which buys you a little time to maybe work this out). It doesn't hurt to inquire, especially if you think you have a plan for the classes for the new major you want.

      Also consider applying for the Kellogg Honors College (set a reminder cause it'll be opened later) for your sophomore year. Being in the KHC gives you priority IF you are enrolled in an honors course - at least that's how it worked for quarters. www.cpp.edu/~honorscollege/future-students/how-to-apply.shtml Since you are an incoming freshman, this information will update as the year goes on, but I thought I'd provide it for your reference!
