    You guys did a great job explaining; I didn’t see a video on this for the Elantra, so I watched this one and it basically was the same procedure, just without taking the caliper off. Thanks guys!

    That jam nut uses a bigger wrench than any I normally use. Your wrench looks like a hybrid between a pipe wrench and Vise grips. Never seen one like it!

    The official manual for the '06 Sonata made it seem like you need to remove the entire rack and pinion to replace the inner tie rod. Was that the case for the 11-13 Sonatas too? I'm trying to figure out if I really need to remove the rack and pinion to replace the inner tie rod...

    What kind of silicone paste should I use? Does the same paste used for brake caliper pins work?

    I replaced mine (2012 Sonata GLS) some a year and a half ago using same tool. Saved me a lot of money in terms of labour cost. I just bought the tool for CA$29.00.

      What was the reason for changing it? I been hearing some noise on passenger right hand side when going at slow speeds and im assuming it may be the inner tire rod.
      Also, my tire is wearing out more so I'm guessing this may be the issue.

    • @almurrie3368
      @almurrie3368 3 года назад

      @@MexAttacks That's usually a CV (Constant Velocity) Joint making clunking noise at slow speeds. The inner TIE rod just usually wears and gives too much movement slack in the steering. That also might cause edge tyre wear.

    are you replacing this because you hit a curb or something?
    My friend just did this on a Hyundai (here old.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/j2u81t/any_mechanics_in_reddit_question_about_canadian/) and Canadian Tire said they needed two tie rods, a control rod, two rims... yet there is no visible damage on the car and it was a really light curb hit. Does that sound right?

    You know you dont really need to remove the caliper entirely and can do away with that whole hanging doohicki stuff. Just remove the lower caliper bolt and swing the caliper up and over leaving the upper bolt on as a hinging point. Youre welcome

    When you order inner tie rods from 1A auto it is mandatory to buy a tie rod tool cuz nothing will fit on it! Surprise! 🙄🙄
