I won some Loops&Threads: Facet Stones from BOD. This was in 2017 when she had an Instagram giveaway for 50 skeins of yarn. So Michaels is trying to get one over on us by taking away the “Stones” from the title.. It is indeed the same yarn. Do you know that you ‘yarn under’? It took me slowing down your video to catch it 😂. Thank you Ginger! 🥰🧶👍🏽👏🏽
I tried making a ribbed beanie with the Facets “Flame” yarn and the result of working with the yarn is that I can’t bring myself to finish the beanie or to frog it. It had numerous ‘breaks’ and knots and the thickness varied. The yarn catches on everything therefore wearing it as a beanie or even making a blanket with it will mean fingernails and rings will be catching in it and pulling out fluffs. Frogging it is a sad affair as it was caught up in the simple hdc blo’s and I had to go very slow. If anyone has suggestions or could share their experience with Facets please let me know!
Hi ginger⚘️ thanks for doing this review. Its fun to see the new yarns & colors as well as seeing how much alike they can be. I now know what you were talking about so long ago with me about your love of yarn and how it is a passion ,etc.😊.lol Thanks bunches for always being so sweet and all you do for us.🌷🌼🌸🌺⚘️💕👍
Just got my order of Facets from Michaels. Eek. Well, if you've ever had the color Rain Shower of the Prism yarn from Mary Maxim then you have a pretty good idea of what Facets is like. Unforgettable, I'm going to say is much stronger for one. Facets is very fuzzy and tended to drag a bit on my hook. It gets VERY thin in spots, typical for roving yarn. Since this is made in China, to me it seemed kind of cheap, not like the much better yarns made in Turkey. Also it feels very dry when crocheting. When first seeing it, I knew it wasn't exactly as I was expecting but the colors are very beautiful. Also it seems like it will be a "hot" yarn, that is if using a tighter stitch the garment will be very warm. It doesn't feel breathable to me so I would suggest using lacy stitches. I would imagine a blanket made of this would feel very cloying. All in all I probably won't buy this again which is sad because I really love the colors.
I bought the facet yarn I made a cowl It did come out nice i gave it as a christmas gift..I do feel that the facet unravels on the end more then the unforgettable yarn. Thank you for sharing..😊
I almost missed out on unforgettable and landscapes because some people hate it and being fairly new I was like stay away from that but I recently got it on clearnqce and made some shawls and I have to say it turned out so beautiful! I'm glad I took a chance and I'd gladly purchase this too.
I've used Red Heart Unforgettable to make blankets. I loved how they turned out. They were also a bit heavy which worked perfectly for a kid's weighted blanket without having to add weights.
I have had my eye on this since it came out new last week on our Canadian Michaels website. I thought upon seeing it ,it reminded me of red heart unforgettable which I really love. After watching your review I will be ordering some. Thank you
I love Red Heart Unforgettable. And I just bought some of the Facets yarn. I can't wait to try it. I saw it on one of your Michael's videos. So I had to get some. The colors are really pretty.
The Facets makes me think of the Debbie Mumm yarn by Jo-Ann Traditions that was around for a while but then got discontinued. It also had lovely self striping colors, was shiny and a roving style yarn. Great review and comparison!
i think a hat and scarf would be pretty something simmple like shell stitch or waffle or c2c stitch unforgettable is one of my favorite yarns and i like the facets yarn to great review
Would Love to see a comparison with landscapes as well Ginger. What size hook did you use? I think I missed it beautiful yard can’t wait to get some of my own
Looks more like lion brand landscapes to me. It is a roving style so I can't wait to get my hands on some. The color looks like a cross between Pearly and Tealberry, both unforgettable.
I had to frog with facets after a couple rows of a magic circle and each time it got caught and I needed to cut it out and start all the way over. So I recommend going really slow if you have to unravel while doing a magic circle. I think the wispy yarn gets stuck together when you need to increase the stitch to make the circle.
I’m looking forward to getting some Facets in Autumn! I’m pretty sure we never had Facets - maybe in Canada? I know I got some from Ebay or some such. It does look a lot like Unforgettable!
@@theYarnGeek Thanks! I've only used Unforgettable and I find it's good for crocheting but when I knit with it it gets...weird and flattens but at the same time curls if that makes sense lol
Facets has 279 yrds... not 297.. grin, you corrected yourself but started saying it wrong. It is very pretty tho. Thanks for comparing the two, I love the color of the facets, but the unforgettable seems like a better yarn.
Now all I can think of is what will happen to the yarn if I iron it. I know it will melt but what will it look like melted? Could I melt it onto a canvas? Grrrrrrrr! I will watch your whole review then I am off ….
I agree with you. It's very weak. I haven't tried frogging yet but I know it will be exactly as you said! If anyone's thinking of buying this they'd better do it quick because I'm predicting it won't be around long. :)

Nice! Thanks for taking the time to show us! Perfect accompaniment for my afternoon coffee and knitting! 😀 🧶🧶
I was thinking a virus shawl would be pretty but whatever you do will surely be gorgeous. Thank you for this and all the videos and collaborations! xo

Thank you for being so honest
Thank for the review/comparison of the yarns.
I’ll most likely make a blanket since I love making them.
I’ve had Facets “wisp” out on me in the middle of a skein. I had to cut out a section of “unspun” yarn.
What a pretty yarn! Thanks Ginger 😊🧶
I bought the facet yarn I made a cowl It did come out nice i gave it as a christmas gift..I do feel that the facet unravels on the end more then the unforgettable yarn. Thank you for sharing..😊
I have been waiting for someone to compare these 2 yarns!!!
Oh I can't wait to get out of covid quarantine and check the new colors out! Thanks Ginger!

I love Unforgettable so I definitely will try it. Would make a lovely shawl. 😊
Haven’t seen it at my store yet. Sure is pretty though. Thanks for sharing!!! Have a great day!!!
i think a hat and scarf would be pretty something simmple like shell stitch or waffle or c2c stitch unforgettable is one of my favorite yarns and i like the facets yarn to great review
I bought this a few days ago, it’s literally falling apart as I try to knit with it. And if you try to rip anything out all the stitches fuse together
I want to try this! I haven’t used unforgettable yet either!
That would make a beautiful cowl
My choice will always be machine was and dry regardless of most other qualities. 😉
I used the dark ocean for the kaleidoscope shawl that was red hearts unforgettable pattern
Thank you for review.
Would Love to see a comparison with landscapes as well Ginger. What size hook did you use? I think I missed it beautiful yard can’t wait to get some of my own
She said she used a 6mm hook on both of them :)
Looks more like lion brand landscapes to me. It is a roving style so I can't wait to get my hands on some. The color looks like a cross between Pearly and Tealberry, both unforgettable.
I hope we get it in our store!
Unforgettable kept splitting when I knitted with it so I stopped the project though I loved the color options.

Oooo I definitely agree with that. It’s a lot like Unforgettable that way.🤪
Hello Ginger and family! Don’t say every yarn needs a center pull or they will charge another $1 per skein. Lol Love the yarn review. ❤️🧶
Ug!! Mum is the word!🤫🤐😂
I’m looking forward to getting some Facets in Autumn! I’m pretty sure we never had Facets - maybe in Canada? I know I got some from Ebay or some such. It does look a lot like Unforgettable!
I didn't hear a price comparison, are they the same cost?
Hi MummaBear! At the time, the Unforgettable was about $1 more expensive.

I made a sweater out of unforgettable in that exact colour way, aaaaaand it’s so ugly .
The way it worker up in DC just didn’t work out for me. 😟
oh no!!!😭😭😭
Reviews saying its weak make me wonder when another reviewer washed/ dried by machine and it washed up well.
:(
I am waiting for them to unload the truck...
😂 We are so much alike! 😂
Oh Frog it. Really should be wider spread as a curse word.
The “other” F word 😉
To me the yarns scream casual cardigan!
Blouse
Now all I can think of is what will happen to the yarn if I iron it. I know it will melt but what will it look like melted? Could I melt it onto a canvas? Grrrrrrrr! I will watch your whole review then I am off ….
Have fun!!! 😅
I bought this just yesterday and I regret buying it. The yarn falls apart easily. Frogging is a pain in the butt. wouldn't recommend.

That Loops & Threads looks like that crap yarn they were selling in the 70s. Got about 3 washes out of it if you were lucky.
I am DEFINITELY NOT going to buy a yarn made in China!
