I like both yarns, and have used many, many skeins of each. I find I use the Lion Brand Pound of Love more for baby items, and the Caron One pound more for larger afghans. The Pound of Love is so much thinner, in my opinion. I have NEVER used a J hook with it, as the label suggests--no matter what project I used it on. I use an H or an I. It also fuzzes up more when it is washed than the Caron One Pound does. That is why I love the Caron One Pound for bigger afghans...the wearability. It is soft and cushy--especially after it is washed once. And it stays pretty. I use it more for charity projects, because I know it will still look nice when it is washed. I made my daughter two huge afghans for her couch 3 Christmases ago, and they still look good--even with a toddler and a cat! And I usually use an I or J hook with it--I like the way it makes the yarn drape. so if I had to choose only one--it would be Caron One Pound.
Thank you for your comment. Helps when I’m tempted to buy yarn. Love Lion brand for its antipill qualities. If I’m going to take the time to make something usable, I prefer less pilling and total wash ability.
Your honest opinion is always helpful, I can't get out much and there really is not a variety of yarns at my stores. I order online so when I can get an honest opinion I always consider it when ordering. Thanks for helping me make some of my yarn decisions. I had to pause video I couldn't stop laughing out loud, Crystal you are too funny, "make a choice or your life is in danger" I chose Lionbrand as well
I prefer the LB Pound of Love. When I crochet with the Caron One Pounder, it seems to drag on my hook. But thanks for your comparison! I always enjoy hearing your opinions about different yarns.
I see there's 1 sad person that's not happy in their own life and they feel the need to do a thums down. Crystal is so helpful to thousands of crafters like me. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL that she DOES FOR US. My mom always said that if you can't say or anything NICE then DON'T SAY OR DO ANYTHING! Crystal you are SOOOOOOOO AWESOME! THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR US!
Thank you for these reviews Crystal. Since I live in India, your videos help me decide what yarn to buy online or through friends as I don’t get to touch and feel them for softness. I have amassed a lot of Mandala yarn because of your reviews...and love them all!! 💖💖💖
Thank you Crystal!! I am a fairly new crocheter, so I definitely learned something tonight, because on first view, I would of chosen the LIon Brand as well, but I thought I was making the better choice for Caron - thank you, thank you, thank you!! ❤️
If it weren’t for a video you posted about 6 months ago, I may have never tried Caron. I’m glad I did. You also have taught me that certain color dyes really DO make a difference in the texture. This is one of the hardest debates I’ve had lately. I’m gonna have to try them at the same time to be able to decide. So.... my verdict is still out. I will put my vote in ASAP. 😂
Thanks for the review, Crystal. I have never used either of these yarns & was trying to decide which one to get so I searched through your videos & found this review. I appreciate the comparison that you have provided & your opinion on the differences between the two. One of the reasons that I enjoy watching your yarn videos is that I can learn what a yarn is really like before I buy, especially since most of my yarn purchases are done online.
I found that with the Lion Brand, different shades in their Pound of Love yarn yield different yarn weights. For example, when I bought the Antique White, it was much closer to a 3 weight than the label said was a 4 weight. However, the Oxford Gray was much thicker and a thick 4 weight. The weight depends on the color.
Hi Crystal, I crochet for charity all the time,I have used them both. But lean more toward pound of love. Love your yarn videos, very informative, thank you.
thanks for this video - I'm deciding between the two myself for a blanket - I also use both for projects - based on your video I'm going to use the Lionbrand for the blanket
Pound of love is softer and has greater yardage...I find it ideal for baby blankets. It washes nicely as well. I like Caron for bigger afghans and I love their color selection. I wish lion brand would expand on the pound of love color offerings.
I haven't tried either one yet. But everytime you squeeze the yarn, i can't get the phrase "don't squeeze the charmin" out of my head...lol. Thanks for the reveiw
They both look great have not tried either, I don't get out to stores much these days to do my own shopping. Thanks for your comparison to the two brands.
Always a great video, thanks Crystal! I like and use both yarns, usually Caron One Pound for afghans and Lion Brand Pound of Love for baby blankets/items. When they're on sale I buy Pound of Love for stash but will usually only buy One Pound if needed for a specific project. So my choice would be the Pound of Love, definitely softer.
I've actually never had either but I do appreciate this video because I may in the future choose to buy and I think I would go probably softer myself 😍✌️
Thank you so much for this video, it helped me choose. I live we’re I have to order all not knowing what I would receive. And YOU when I follow you your just the best it think.
I have never used either all though I recently bought Lion Brand Feels like Butta. I will be using for first time for a baby blanket. Great video! I really found it informative.
I love them both, I've used the Lion Brand one to make a baby set. The Caron one pound made a throw blanket. I do love Caron's jumbo yarns also with its soft sheen.
I tend to sway towards and prefer the thicker yarn, so I would choose the Caron One Pound, but I love the Lion Brand Pound of Love too. Lol! Ok, so I guess I love them both! Thank you for the yarn review Crystal! Love all that you do!
thanks for the review I've been crocheting a while now and I've never used either one looked at them a lot but didn't know which one to get thanks for helping
Hi Crystal, Usually, I will try Caron brand& I made a sweater. It turned out good. I never tried Lion brand. But just now u explained very well. Now I like both. Tnx.
Thank you Crystal. I've wondered about the differences. I probably will go with the lion brand because I like the softer yarns. I crochet baby hats for the hospital so the softer is better. You're great.
Thank you so much for this video, Crystal! I am making a tricolor blanket for my cousin, and while two of the colors can be found in Caron, the third color can only be found in Lion Brand, so I really needed to know how the two yarns would work together...or not 😊
Thank you! For the information about the two different yarns it really saves us time. I do value your opinion as you work with a lot of different yarns and textures. I like Lions brand it's more vibrant and I use it a lot. Both cotton because it has a sheen to it, and acrylic. I would use both though I guess it would depend on which ones on sale.
I like using both. Depends on the project. My Addi machine likes the Pound of Love, but not the Caron One Pounder. After using a pound of Love the Caron One Pound feels like a rope. Great review.
Lately Caron One Pounder has gotten better - softer, better thread definition. I made a baby blanket with the lilac color and was extremely pleased with it. A few years ago the yarn was tough and scratchy, not now. Also used it to make an Afghan for my aunt. I used Pound of Love for a baby dress (BagODay pattern). I also used it to make a sweater for myself. It feels soft but did feel scratchy while crocheting for awhile. Don’t notice any scratchiness while wearing the sweater. I did wash it and used softener and blocked it. I would use both, but POL is thinner and would not use for a project needing “body”. I have both in my stash, but would use depending on the project.
My choice would probably be either one "IF" I could either one, withOUT having to order online. But neither are available in my area, without traveling a good a 6 hrs plus just one way. Thank you Crystal for another awesome video!
I really liked your comparison. Now I can make a better informed choice. Next purchase will be Lions brand. I have used both, but next project will be a baby blanket. (The problem now (April 2021) is finding good colors available on line. . Thanks for your input.
I love the Pound of Love. I don't use much of the Caron One Pound or Jumbo but do love to use the Caron Simply Soft...love it, too! I wish it would come in bigger skeins. My goto or fall back yarn is and will always be Red Heart Super Saver and I buy the Jumbos and One Pounds whenever I can especially if I am to do charity or free projects. Thank you for this review.
I hadn't used either one, so asked for preferences on facebook. Most picked pound of love. I went to Michael's since both were on sale. I had to get Caron because they didn't have pound of love in the color i wanted. So far I like the Caron one pound. I am making my son a hoodie.
I've only felt them both but I buy the lionbrand pound of love and I really like it. The Caron doesn't seem as soft but now that u say there are lots of colors I may check it out on line and buy some. Thanks for the review
i make a lot of craft items like amigurumi and love to use Caron One Pound. It is an excellent craft yarn. Very consistent, high quality and a good value. I like the thickness of it.
Thank you Crystal, I love when you do these, this is very helpfull for me. Learning about yarns being so many. The lion brand is softer to touch .I just got a pound, havnt used it but i am soon .ty❤😉
I have not used that particular lion brand pound, but the Caron I do use I like it for blankets not clothes. I will try the lion brand eventually. I love all yarn it all has a wonderful purpose, it makes me happy 🙃
Crystal I love both of them and have used both in many projects. I just recently made a shawl using one in Caron and the other was the Lionbrand with the same pattern. They both came out beautiful. I love the fact that they both have a lot of yardage to work with. I guess you can say I'm crazy about jumbo yarns lol.
I have used the pound of love once to make a midwife blanket, and I think it's perfect for baby stuff. I have a lot of the Caron one pounders and use them for afghans, mostly. Either is a good deal for charity because you can get a lot done with one of those, especially when they are on sale - makes charity stuff even more cost effective.
Hi Crystal, Thank you for the comparison. Very helpful. I have made several baby blankets using the Lion Brand Pound of Love. I think is is really soft and perfect for anything that is up against the skin. I have not made anything with the Caron One Pound; however have made several baby sweaters, scarves, beanies, baby booties, toddler dresses using Caron Simply Soft. Maybe my next blanket will be with the Caron One Pound...
I have LB POL in my stash in several colors but haven't used it yet. It does appear to be higher quality. I crocheted my nephew an American Flag blanket with C1P and it came out nice although my fingers were sore from rubbing against the scratchy yarn.
I have used both but, I always choose the Lion Brand because I do Love the softness and the yardage and I also feel like the Caron can sometimes get splitty when I use it! Thanks for Sharing!
I've never used pound of love but it looks nicer than the one pound. I have used the one pound but just by looking I think I would like the pound of love more. I will be trying it now that you did this comparison. Thank you for showing me the difference.
I like both yarns, and have used many, many skeins of each. I find I use the Lion Brand Pound of Love more for baby items, and the Caron One pound more for larger afghans. Love Lion brand for its antipill qualities.

Thanks, making an afghan for my son, was worried if I made the right choice. Good to hear it will hold up. Thanks for sharing.
Whenever I’m going to order a new to me yarn, I check out your channel for a review. Thank you! ❤️
I love that your always comparing & checking out deals for us all awesome ❤️ I like them both
Your honest opinion is always helpful, I can't get out much and there really is not a variety of yarns at my stores. Crystal your videos help me calm down when I get anxious girl keep doing what ya do
Caron is good for blankets where I use lionbrand for apparel's
I prefer the LB Pound of Love. When I crochet with the Caron One Pounder, it seems to drag on my hook.
But thanks for your comparison! I always enjoy hearing your opinions about different yarns.

I really love all your videos. I make a lot of the baby dresses you post. They turn out so pretty. I appreciate all you beautiful videos. Thanks
Thank you for these reviews Crystal. Since I live in India, your videos help me decide what yarn to buy online or through friends as I don’t get to touch and feel them for softness. I have amassed a lot of Mandala yarn because of your reviews...and love them all!! 💖💖💖

I like your reviews. I like Lion Brand Pound of Love. Softness is important to me while working the yarn. Thanks, Crystal.
I haven't used either yet, but have purchased a lot of Caron One Pound. Anxious to start my next project. Thanks Crystal. You are amazing!
Pound of love is softer and has greater yardage...I find it ideal for baby blankets. It washes nicely as well. I like Caron for bigger afghans and I love their color selection. I wish lion brand would expand on the pound of love color offerings.
I haven’t had a chance to get any yet but watching you I do want to try them both I love all 🧶😵
I haven't tried either one yet. But everytime you squeeze the yarn, i can't get the phrase "don't squeeze the charmin" out of my head...lol. Thanks for the reveiw
They both look great have not tried either, I don't get out to stores much these days to do my own shopping. Thanks for your comparison to the two brands.
Good evening Crystal I like both of them also they're both good yarns I have both of them so that's my input on that they're both good yards
The yardage of Lion Brand is what made my decision . Thank you , Crystal , for the review .
Thanks for this review. You bring out things I don't think of when looking at new yarn.
I've actually never had either but I do appreciate this video because I may in the future choose to buy and I think I would go probably softer myself 😍✌️
I love caron more! When you wash the caron one is so soft! And I feel like the pound of love unravels more, plus the colors
Thank you so much for this video, it helped me choose. I live we’re I have to order all not knowing what I would receive. And YOU when I follow you your just the best it think.
Great comparison video - just the information I was looking for.
I love them both depending on what I am crocheting 💖
I like them both, I would choose based on what I was making as to which one. Length and color needed as the key to choosing.
I always choose Caron because it's a little bulkier. Once washed it's just as soft.
So far I’ve just used Caron .... they both look very nice.
I tend to sway towards and prefer the thicker yarn, so I would choose the Caron One Pound, but I love the Lion Brand Pound of Love too. Lol! Ok, so I guess I love them both! Thank you for the yarn review Crystal! Love all that you do!
Pound of Love for sure. Have used both. The love seems to slide on hook better plus it’s definitely softer
Thanks for info. Im just starting my first blanket Crochet project with a Caron One Pound and Varigated jumbo.
I use them both. Pound of love is very soft
thanks for the review I've been crocheting a while now and I've never used either one looked at them a lot but didn't know which one to get thanks for helping
Hi Crystal, Usually, I will try Caron brand& I made a sweater. It turned out good. I never tried Lion brand. But just now u explained very well. Now I like both. Tnx.
I'm making a sweater out of Lion Brand in Gray . So far Im liking it Can't wait to finish and wear.
I Love the CARON POUND
Thank you Crystal. I've wondered about the differences. I probably will go with the lion brand because I like the softer yarns. I crochet baby hats for the hospital so the softer is better. You're great.

My favorite is the pound of love!! It was my first yarn to start crocheting on!!
I love them both. Working with the Caron one pound a lot at Christmas. But I love them both!!
Hi Crystal , thank you so much for explaining the differences between the two , I really have learnt a lot from you. I prefer the Lion brand! X
Never have used pound of love ...definite Caron fan...I love the colors.
I’ve actually used both of these and like them both! I typically use acrylic yarn and honest to goodness I like them equally!
Thank you! For the information about the two different yarns it really saves us time. I do value your opinion as you work with a lot of different yarns and textures. I don’t think I’ve ever used the pound of love but I’m going to try it thanks to your comparison. I have been a Caron user for years
I’m still learning and your helping me 😊
Thank you Crystal 💜
I would choose the Lion brand one. Color seems brighter on the Lion brand. I would try it. Ty for the review.
I use both. I made a blanket with Lionbrand. After I washed it, the blanket was super duper soft!

I love both yarns myself
I've used both. I like pound of love more. I like the softer feel.
I like them both and I have used the Caron the most but I have recently started using Lion brand.
I love the Pound of Love. I don't use much of the Caron One Pound or Jumbo but do love to use the Caron Simply Soft...love it, too! I wish it would come in bigger skeins. I love both I use the Caron one pound for throw blanker; and the Lion Brand for making blanket and other things for babies.
I love caron for sturdy things. Pound of love for snuggly things. Had a lot of knots in my Lion brand one.
Thank you for the info. I've never tryed the lion brand but now i will!!
Lion brand all the way! I like these comparisons!
I like the lion brand for garments. And I like the caron one pound for afghans. I choose the lion brand as my favorite economy yarn
Lionbrand Pound Of Love is my favorite ! 💚🌹
I've only felt them both but I buy the lionbrand pound of love and I really like it. The Caron doesn't seem as soft but now that u say there are lots of colors I may check it out on line and buy some. Thanks for the review

Hi Crystal, good to know great tutorial 😍 I'm using Caron now never tried Lion Brand so I will be in the lookout for it thank you👍😍😍
Thank you for the review. I love both of them.
I have not used that particular lion brand pound, but the Caron I do use I like it for blankets not clothes. I will try the lion brand eventually. I love all yarn it all has a wonderful purpose, it makes me happy 🙃
I like Caron better than Lion Brand. They are both good yarns and I have used both .

I love the fact that they both have a lot of yardage to work with. I guess you can say I'm crazy about jumbo yarns lol.

I'll pick either or as well
I have used the pound of love once to make a midwife blanket, and I think it's perfect for baby stuff. I have a lot of the Caron one pounders and use them for afghans, mostly. Either is a good deal for charity because you can get a lot done with one of those, especially when they are on sale - makes charity stuff even more cost effective.
Hi Crystal! I buy Lion brand only when on sale never used it. I love Caron one pound and have made several blankets with it. Great video.
I use pound of love for baby blankets and baby clothes. I use caron for sweaters
I love the lion brand a lot....i have never used the caron before
Hi Crystal, Thank you for the comparison.
I’ve used both a lot. My choice often depends on the project, but in general I am totally with you in preferring the LB Pound of Love.
I love them both, but like Crystal, if I could only pick one, it would be the Lion Brand.
I have never used, pound of love. I have used Caron, it was really stiff working with, but made a cardigan and it washed up great! Super soft!
Pound of Love! Everytime!!!💗
Lionbrand is my favorite. I make all kinds of stuff with it, especially baby clothes😊
I've never used pound of love but it looks nicer than the one pound. I have used the one pound but just by looking I think I would like the pound of love more. I will be trying it now that you did this comparison. Thank you for showing me the difference.
