That is a great question and one that is getting pinned! Yes, basically, just about any controller that works on Switch (and that includes the Warrior) have the Switch Pro controller protocol, something I feel got "acquired" from Nintendo's many leaks that occured during the lifecycle of the Switch. So in that regard, the feature works just the same on NYXI's controller which I made sure to try. That could be a solution to address the layout for some people that would want to operate it a different way than intended.
It’s really sad that Nintendo has almost forgotten about the GameCube controller. I am so glad that there are companies out there who want to keep innovating and improving on such a great controller.
Agreed, and also very glad that these third parties are tackling it while not limiting themselves to serving GameCube (or Switch) only. As a PC, mobile and Switch controller, it does a lot of things great!
Was kinda worried I wasted money on it, and shoulda just stuck with my powerA, or use the adapter with an original controller. This definitely cleared my worries!
@@DitheryStudios Well let me sink that line deeper for you, I have a PowerA. I originally drew comparisons but ended up removing that portion, the video was getting too long. It's a solid controller if wanting something almost 1:1 in feel to the OG GameCube one but the Warrior took some liberties and they all improved on the original hardware that inspired it. Yet, it retains a feel that is more than convincing enough, a great product really! Thanks for engaging, greatly appreciated! 😄
Talk about timing! I've been looking for a GameCube controller like this for ages. I grew up on this controller. It just feels so right in my hands. Thank you for including latency analysis!
Saw ads for the controller a while ago and was on the fence, seeing this review has me leaning on buying one. Awesome review and glad I clicked on your video, definitely liking and subscribing
Will you be picking one up? If so, don't miss out on an extra 10% off, code in the description! If not, what would you have liked to see on this controller that makes you not interested?
I was thinking about gamecube controllers a couple weeks ago when i was playing smash bros at my sisters house and realized i was never really able to get an orange one like i always wanted as a kid. Fast forward to today and i came across an ad for this controller online and your review was the first one i saw! Definitely wanna pick one up after watching your video, but im not too sure if i missed the deadline for your giveaway. Regardless, i really like the format of your review and it really covers all the bases. Super informative, appreciate your input on it!
Thanks for the very kind words! I'm sorry to say that the giveaway now is over, it was won by someone in the comments but they have a promotion starting shortly where you can stack rebates, might be a good time if anything! Cheers :)
I absolutely enjoyed this video man! I been praising my Nyxi Wizard controller for months only for it to be topped by this one. I've been eying it to since it's inception I would LOVE to get my own hopefully this holiday season.
This video is very helpful getting 1 of these pretty soon Every time when I look at a review video it doesn't really explain much of the controller This video explained a lot
Thank you very much! You could hold off if you're not in a rush but I do think down the road many people will appreciate it, it's the pinnacle of "GameCube Gamepad" we've ever seen to date. Thanks for engaging, greatly appreciated!
This is what I've really hoped for, a more modern gamecube style controller that maintains that classic feel! With hall effect joysticks and so many compatibility options this is really solid looking controller
Couldn't agree more! NYXI really knocked it out of the park! I get that they don't offer Silver cause I would've gotten an extra one I think! 😅 What color is your favorite?
I was a bit skeptical when I saw this controller announced, but it truly seems to be the best crossover between playing classic games on the original console and playing smash Bros on modern consoles with the intended controller format. Thank you for the review!
Yup, you summarized it perfectly, I was skeptical too but they really did a fine job making it extra modern which I appreciate. We're not gonna need a "slightly better version" cause that one got everything really, HD Rumble, hair trigger, analog triggers! Yeah a dock, maybe a phone mount could've been cool too? But I'm happy with what we got. Cheers and thanks for engaging!
@@GameTechTalk Oh, definitely orange. I used to have an orange game cube controller back in the day, so it holds a soft spot for me. Although, I do think the purple controller looks pretty cool. So maybe I should think on it.
@@koalatamer5634 Ahahah! You know what's up! I'm still waiting for NYXI to ship that review unit and I'm excited exactly because it is orange! With that said, if you are in US or Canada, I'll wish you good luck for the purple one giveaway! Cheers, thanks for engaging! :)
I never even thought of that, what a great use case to not have to compromise on the experience while retaining the convenience, thanks for mentioning it!
Yep I love my Wavebird controller, but hate that there is no Rumble on the Wavebird. Once I saw this new controller announced I knew I had to buy it. It is definitely the perfect controller upgrade for my original GameCube.
I modded my gamecube a few months ago and got a couple Retro Fighters controllers for it. I liked the true to original feel and button layout, but they are just made so cheaply. My first one got stick drift in 2 weeks. They replaced it for free, but still rubbed me the wrong way. While I was waiting for the replacement, I saw the trailer for this controller and was super excited. Im hoping this one performs a little better with the hall effect tech in it.
So far so good, but because that controller will be going to a lucky winner, I decided to not beat it up past the reviewing phase. I have plans to make follow-up videos a few weeks after I receive the one I’ll be keeping but I do have the Wizards from NYXI and they have been holding up quite nicely!
Great video once again dude!! I saw about this controller, but wasn't so interested since I already had the wizard. Now thanks to you I'm interested in getting one hahaha, looks really comfortable like just by looking at it!
To me, the Wizard in standalone controller is the blueprint. A very good one too, but Warrior is definitely the end result. They sacrificed a few things but they definitely improved more than a few as well! Which color would you get?
It's really interesting to see a company bring something like this to market, I'm seriously considering picking one of these up for emulation and GameCube ports but I'm still on the fence since I'm not sure what I'd use it for beyond those things
Thanks for the very detailed review! I was waiting for a product just like this! Glad I didn’t buy the Wizard and waited. Hope the giveaway is still going, would make my year to win one…
Thanks, I'm sorry to say the controller was already won and shipped. There will be more to come, though not a Warrior controller but if the content is your cup of tea, who knows, you might win something else in the future. Cheers! :)
The best of the best of the best for emulation lad. This is a quintessential example of being better than you were yesterday in the gaming space. Well done all around. If nothing else, this controller may inspire others to join the fraternity of retro gamers and discover the joys of reliving and helping to archive our collective gaming past. Too much? 😉👍
Couldn't agree more. Not too much at all, rather just enough. I don’t know for you but I bought those kits of old controllers we buried over the years and to be honest, as much as the nostalgia is fun for 5 mins, most don’t hold up too well in modern times… except the GC one. For it to be back in better shape than ever is a testament to how great it was. I’m hoping this puts NYXI on the map even more if they keep redesigning classics like that! What other controller would you like to see redesigned? I wonder if we’re thinking of the same hehehe!
@@GameTechTalk You know we're actually spoiled for choices right? I've seen them all through the years and now is the best time to live for choice IMO. It's unbelievable. I know you've seen the handhelds being released from China that are completely re-inspiring another generation of gamers, IE: Anbernic's RG35XX line of handhelds or the pinnacle of price point to performance retro gaming, the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (bloody brilliant little unit BTW - bias alert! 😉). Choice. And I think I do know what controller you're thinking of lad. Yes indeed.
@@STR82DVD Alright, since you give me no choice, I’ll say it first! 🤣 Arguably Xbox Duke is one that some say was an evolution to it but definitely a controller I’d like to see refreshed to modern standard is the Dreamcast controller. It’s also one of those products that after a bit of time, would just click to be a rather very good solution. I do wonder if it could even be made good and modern… So was it the one you were thinking of too? Edit: I have never opened my RP4 Pro because I have this rule to not open a device if I’m not ready to talk about it. Got a few still sealed tbh 😅
@@GameTechTalk I thought you were inviting towards 8bitdo or Xbox. My thoughts exactly. Interestingly, the Dreamcast controller also implemented hall effect technology very much like the controller reviewed today however, it escapes me if it was just the triggers or just the analog stick but I didn't believe it was both.
Super Excited for this! Currently waiting on modding my Gamecube, waiting on the FLippydrive to release and try that, maybe afterwards I'll get this instead of the Blue retro mod from Lazer Bear, or maybe ill do both, Thanks for the review!
Pleasure is all mine, looks like you got a fun project lined up for you, that gets the gamer in me excited for what you have to come! Enjoy and glad to have you around 😊
So far, you’re the only reviewer who even shows the dongle being used connected with the USB-C. Still in this video it isn’t talked about specifically how to go about using the dongle with PC instead of the Bluetooth option. It is mentioned that it is compatible but not demonstrated @ 3:50. At 4:08 you see it connected by USB-C but it’s not the focus of that section. Every other reviewer only talks about its use with the GameCube or Wii and they sometimes don’t even have those systems. They don’t use the dongle in any other way after that and basically say “I’m sure this dongle works if it’s as good as the rest of the controller.” There’s still the USB-C option and no one mentions it.
I try to cover as much ground as I can, can't say that I never miss anything but I am glad to have had the opportunity to stand out by having gone the extra mile (if not as far as I could've gone). Thanks for letting me know, it inspires me to continue to go in that direction. Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk I appreciate your reply and acknowledging my note. The video was well done and you did great work! I was just specifically looking for the dongle’s capabilities and your video stood out. Thought I would just put it on your radar and I’m glad you will keep it in your consideration moving forward with future reviews. Keep up the good work. I’ll be staying tuned to your uploads. Also liked and subscribed because of your polite reply. 🙏🏼
I’d get it for my GameCube if the triggers functioned like the originals. Been looking for a new, quality wireless GC controller but the triggers are always wrongfully executed. Maybe one day. But I’d take it for free 👍🏻
Ahh yeah, that GameCube had both the break/throttle and the "button" value with the little click at the end. It'd be nice to see that aspect make a comeback and good luck for the giveaway!
I actually cut that part of the review cause I was trying to slim it down. What I originally said is I wish that the gamecube portion would have been retractable this way it doesn't stick out all the time. I totally agree with you, it's not a big deal per say but it is a little in the way all the time if you don't use it and I won't be.
I got two NYXI Wizards and loved them. I’m thinking about getting one of these bc of smash but I’m curious about the input lag. The Wizards are a close second, but with smash being such a fast paced game, it has me wondering if these will keep up.
I have a short segment near the end of the video that addresses latency and polling rate. Basically this controller is at least as good (technically better) than 1st party software when used wirelessly. When used wired it’s way better. Don’t hesitate if you have other questions, cheers!
This is the controller powerA should have made. Instead we got a featureless GameCube looking controller. Nintendo should give the offical license to nyxi or Mobapad, because they do way better than powerA, to their credit they have the designs down, but not one of their controllers even vibrates which is ridiculous
You know, originally I had a whole segment comparing the PowerA, which I eventually removed as they are so far apart. I think you can catch glimpses of it here and there in the footage. As for everything you said, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT! I'm guessing when Nintendo license, they purposely gimp the competition to not have to fight over features and keep the first party accessories relevant because the PowerA was so feature-ridden in comparison that it was sad really. NYXI said: "Hold my beer!"
I still have my GameCube, I have been waiting a long time for a dungle from 8bitdo, that company makes great accessories, I wonder why they haven’t do it. But also because the GameCube controller has different design, so this controller is good, is like buying a new wave bird. I had the oficial wave bird, but it broke long time ago.
That might be that one solution you've been waiting for. I would try to get confirmation though because I had people comment on this video that they use one with their Gamecube successfully, and I had someone say it didn't work. As I don't have a Gamecube with me myself, I unfortunately don't know that it works as claimed by the product description. I would think it does but yeah, better safe than sorry!
@@GameTechTalk Si finally I received the warrior controller and tried it on an original GameCube. To syncronize, it is very simple, to put the adaptor on the console, turn on the console, press the button on the adapter for 3 seconds and then press the syncronize button for 3 seconds on the controller, and it conectas very fast. The manual doesn’t say it, but if you turn of the console and turn it on again, you just have to press the center owl button thing on the controller and it will connect again very fast. So far I liked it, I don’t like the buttons do like clic from a computer keyboard, but is not bad, I got used to it very fast. I tried on a couple of games, star fox adventures, Luigi’s mansion, metal gear twin snakes, resident evil 2, and Zelda wind waker. It works super good in all games, everything works fine as I remembered, the controller is a little different from an original one, but very good. But there are 2 bad things: -metal gear has this glitch thing going on that doesn’t happen with an original controller, because the newer controller has more travel distance the stick, the programmers left a mistake there, when you press up and right, the game doesn’t know what to do, and instead of running, the character walks, only happens pressing up and right, doesn’t happen with an original game cube controller, there is still the possibility of using the dpad to play. But this is not the fault of the controller, but is good to say this of someone wants to play metal gear with this controller, this will happen. -resident evil 2, I like playing using the pad, it works fine, but because it has like a circular base, and not like a cross, is hard to push only up, so when I am turning with the character, And I try to finish my turn and try to walk straight, I thought I was pushing up, but my character keep turning around. The controllers detects all inputs correctly, but because of the design, it doesn’t work completely good. But it works good in all games, I didn’t liked the pad is not a cross, maybe Nintendo has the copyrights, so they cannot use a cross. But overal, I think is a very good option for a GameCube fan, to get a new wireless controller. Very sad about the metal gear situation.
for me it be my main controller for every game i even use this controller on my xbox series x and my elit 2 controller will be for fortnite and halo and cod mostly shooters and this one is for everything else cause of the haul effect
That’s the thing, anyone willing to get accustomed to this product will come out satisfied with it as it is greatly well tuned. Glad to hear a fellow gamer maximize the gaming assets, enjoy my guy!
Yeah! I'm one of those guys that sold my old hardware to buy the new one of that time. Something I regret now 😭 With that said, someone said in the comments it works perfectly on their GC and vibration even works though it is wireless. Cheers!
Can't say that I have, quite frankly, I didn't even know this existed. It looks loosely like a Wii Classic controller that got a "refresh" treatment. Interesting, thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Great vid! Really hoping to get one for my b-day in July 🤞 if not, then Christmas. This looks to be the ultimate pro controller ‘alternative.’ For ultimate joy-con alternative, that would likely be the Hyperion or the Wizard - depending on user’s preference
Too bad the give away isn't for Mexico as well, but it has given me the info I needed, i have a Gamecube and a brand new Switch, it will be a good investment for both
Unfortunately, the original plan was to expand my coverage but I found out recently that US and Canada have a recent law that prevents people from shipping anything with a lithium battery... I wonder if that law was introduced to dissuade consumers from buying from China, it's so dumb. Countries can ship to me, but I can't ship to them, so for warranty it's not good either. :/ Anywho, glad the video was helpful, cheers!
A lot of what the good folks at NYXI have done flies completely off of my radar because I don't own a Switch. Yeah, and I dare to call myself a gamer. The audacity. This Warrior is pinging my radar like a flight of B-52s because it's something that'll actually work with all of the hardware I own and expect to own in the future. I have a lot of fond memories of the GameCube and a lot of hours behind that controller. The WiiU had a sexy Pro controller and the original Wii was almost as fun at parties as I am. But; the GameCube was the last TV console from Nintendo that truly captivated me. I've enjoyed getting back into GameCube in recent years with Dolphin emulation on my phone. It's allowed me to play some of the games that I and my friends couldn't afford or that simply weren't offered in stores around here. It's allowed me to revisit the stuff that I overlooked or misjudged for one reason or another. I have to imagine that there's lots of people who may be in the same boat. They play GameCube on their phones, tablets, or PCs and this controller will go a long ways towards making their experience more real. Would I buy this? Honestly; I don't know. I have a King Kong 3 Pro on the way thanks to our friends at Retro Handhelds and AKNES. Gulikit stuff has an excellent reputation and I have very high hopes for this KK3P. I don't need another $60 controller when that one is very likely going to be end game for me. Oh, but I want this one too. I saw a joke in one of the retro handhelds subreddits that said our end goal should be to own multiple handhelds, each optimized for a specific console. Maybe they had the spirit; but, were just a little confused? Maybe the secret to happiness is owning multiple controllers, each optimized for a specific console? I've certainly heard worse ideas than that. Downright bad ones, even. Our Founding Fathers invited Quebec to join the USA in the Articles of Confederation, which was our pre-Constitution constitution. They declined. I'll leave it to you, dear reader, to determine which of those actions was the bad idea.
You know, at this point I "install" myself when reading a Matt Davis comment. Got to have that right posture to let out those belly laughs and to soak it all in because it's never just funny, it's filled with wisdom nuggets too and once again, disappoint you did not friend. But this particularly caught my attention: "Maybe the secret to happiness is owning multiple controllers, each optimized for a specific console?" Just.... wow? Can I say I felt a brain jolt when I read this... I don't know if I'll tackle that but I think what you said is brilliant and if ever I do, you deserve all the credits. In the meantime, I'll still figure out what was the bad idea and will wish you good luck for the giveaway! Thanks Matt, it was a great comment to start the day with! 😊
I gotta come clean, I didn't even know about the Retro Fighters BattlerGC Pro. With that said, as I particularly like rumble and NYXI's has HD, I think that alone settles it for me. Hair triggers are fun to have but not as impactful. Still, I'll take a closer look, thanks a lot!
For racing games, that entirely depends on if the game supports analog triggers and to my knowledge there is only one game that does on Switch and I think it is Dirt 5? I also read a while back that apparently the feature was removed in a later patch. Don't know if that's true but best to assume that your triggers won't be analog while playing Switch, but it will be everywhere else. As for Mario Sunshine, the NYXI Warrior does not have the L2/R2 click at the end of the analog trigger like the GameCube did. So, much like when playing Sunshine on joycons, R1 and R2 will be used based on whether you want to squirt while standing still or while moving. I also don't have any graduality when lightly pushing R2, so I assume it simply is registered as the button with no analog values. Cheers!
@@PaperBanjo64 That most likely is the game I meant to say, not much of a racing game kind of guy, you'll have to excuse me. 😅 With that said, you brought an interesting thought that I unfortunately am not equipped to confirm for you. But I would assume that if using the dongle on the GC adapter on the Switch, the triggers would most likely work analog on Grid Autosport. (Edit) Using the dongle in USB-C does not count as a GC controller, that was a great question!
Out of curiosity, did you happen to test, or know, if this controller supports the analog triggers when being used with something like dolphin? Iv seen them mentioned in the advertising, but most bluetooth controllers like this iv seen generally only accept the analog input when plugged into a gc controller adpater or an actual gamecube, and i want games like sunshine to feel as close to authentic as possible with emulation
I did test in Dolphin emulator after, the trigger portion works fine, however, the click at the end that the original GC controller had is not part of that trigger. Therefore, you must map one or the other but cannot do both. With that said, you can map the "click" on say L3 or R3 of the Warrior, not the same but it can serve in a pinch. What I did specifically for Sunshine, I kept analog R2 and mapped the click on R3, I then put that value on the right back paddle so I click that to have mario move or not while using the nozzle. It works surprisingly well and I adapted fairly quickly! I hope this helps! :)
It does, I don't think I know of a controller that doesn't have any out of the box brand new. However, and I'm unsure if that is what the question was, the snapback is far far FAR better than say what you get on the Apex 4. It's just that I expect every controller to fail, but some are better than others and I do think the Warrior is decent in that regard. With that said, I don't flick my sticks but maybe that would be a good test for the future to include?
@@GameTechTalk I think snapback checks would be a great test to have when reviewing, especially considering smash. It doesn't seem like any controllers can get around snapback without modding or software, bummer.
@@tappersreviews4677 Fun fact, I got an older brother born in the 70s that is a few years older and which made me grow beyond my time. Which means I got to experience things like Goldorak and Commodore 64 when they were still relevant. I basically thought myself to read before I was even in school cause I wanted to understand Commodore coding books, true story. Tl;dr - I relate a lot with Gen X even as a Millennial due to having an older brother that created that generational bridge.
Has anyone figured out if you can map the GameCube full trigger press onto the bonus buttons and carry it over to an actual Wii or GameCube? Or if there’s been an update that registers a full trigger press as a GC full trigger press?
I havent tried excessively but what little I did, I couldn't. I feel like that'll require some brilliant people's effort to offer a software solution on PC exclusively
Hey, yeah basically the BT average latency is about twice from using the dongle and the dongle outperforms just about any controller in the 125hz space that I tested using wired! You can see it at 13:58. Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk thanks! did you try overclocking the dongle? i wonder if the controller and the dongle actually poll more often so overclocking the dongle would have an effect.
@@zoolz8l I have not but I assume it will. I don’t get into overclocking, it is reliant on USB Host controllers and there are at least half a dozen manufacturers I know of (there are probably more). Then USB hubs, or being on a lane too crowded, etc. It’s cool stuff but I stick to expectations people are guaranteed to achieve.
I want to use this controller with my OG Wii to play GameCube games. I wonder if the triggers are analog to play for example Super Mario sunshine properly?
It doesn't have the physical "click" at the end, nor does it have both values. Rather, the hair triggers only gives 0-100% to throttle and brake. I tried mapping a few things to see if it would work but it hasn't. I doubt it would but maybe someone with a GC/Wii could try mapping that "click" to the back buttons and see if saves the value on-board even when plugging the device elsewhere but I doubt it would work. With that said, I'm thinking this might be a software addressable thing but NYXI doesn't have an accompanying software companion for this controller. I'll bring it to them nonetheless. Cheers!
I couldn’t say. The first time I recall ever seeing one was on the very first Xbox Elite controller. To be honest, I don’t think anyone knew a controller could cost this much before Microsoft did it. Which Flydigi model were you thinking of? 😊
Great review, you covered everything except i just wanted to know if it's better than the power A GameCube controller, but either way it's still a must buy for me 👌🏼🔥
Yes it does, see the funny thing is I had a segment covering that exact topic but I decided last minute to remove it, it was all filmed and everything too. But yes, in a nutshell, they are in two different leagues. The PowerA only has one advantage over the NYXI, that it feels every so slightly more like the original one... Past that, Warrior is better on every front because it didn't just emulate the original, it improved it, that's what makes it on a different league in comparison. Cheers!
You can as long as you are on the Nintendo mode and have a software to take advantage of it such as Steam Input. But if your asking if you can add gyro to X-input mode, like the KK3 Max and Flydigi controllers can, no you cannot. Not unless NYXI introduces a software to do so.
Hi, I just recently purchase mt NYXI warrior controller and immediately test it out but after connecting to my gamecube it doesn't work it's just connected but movement or buttons functionality. I try updating firmware and watch multiple videos how to connect but still no luck. I already contacted NYXI customer support but its abysmal. Is there anyone who experience this? How did you fix it? I will really appreciate any help.
Sorry to hear, unfortunately I do not have a GameCube to test this. The manual, the box and the marketing does imply that it should work however. Someone in the comments also said it worked for them so I assume that indeed it does, the right step is undoubtly to reach out to NYXI and glad you did as such. If you can, please let us know of your progress, this may help more people in the same situation in the future. Thanks!
I don't know if I understood correctly, the control has less latency with the doongle and then with the hub adapter than when connected directly with USB C to the switch dock?
Not exactly, my apology as I may have jumbled my words when talking about that part. What I'm saying is, when using the NYXI Warrior dongle, it performed better than any other controller I've benchmarked wired in the 125hz category, which is where it lands when using the dongle. But when using wired on the Warrior itself, it still does even better than when using the dongle as expected. Cheers! Tl;dr - NYXI (wired) > NYXI (dongle) > Other 125hz controllers (wired) You can also check the numbers here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1De7alQV41En3SK_9OOKdAn28v41ptfaLF3q54WTL0o0/edit#gid=0
@@tuxtv That is unfortunately something I cannot factually answer, I can only make logic assumptions which is that I'd put my money on the latency not being as good on the adapter if just for the fact that USB comes into play on top of legacy connectors. Adding a "middle element" causes extra latency, possibly very little but seeing how the Warrior capitalizes on newer technology, rather than just being pinnacle older one, I think that's 2-0 for the Warrior being potentially better than bringing back original hardware into modern era using external tools. Cheers!
Very well! Bluetooth has gotten a lot better in the recent iterations too so the latency is much much much better than it used to be. If wired is an option it is always best of course but gone be the days of having platforms and FPS unplayable due to latency. What emulator where you looking to play?
Hmmm… This is going to sound weird but I LOVE the Apex 4. Not shying away from that right? But can I say it doesn’t feel right for Switch? And sure HD Rumble is not there but it’s not even that… It’s like Apex 4 is for try-hard’ing, not for when I’m at “casual” leisurely-type pace. So in that regard, my pick is shifting to the Warrior cause it’s oh so sweet for the Switch, even though the layout isn’t the exact same. It’s beast at Smash of course, and totally awesome for retro. The dongle working on Switch also gives it an edge as it performs better than Bluetooth latency-wise. However, I do expect to not use it as much on PC, especially if playing say Souls-like games, definitely not the controller for that. But say I’m playing Animal Well? A cute little indie? Warrior it is. What kind of games would you be playing?
@@GameTechTalk I tend to stay more casual on the Switch. Mostly Mario Kart and the Zelda games. For the other big AAA style games I usually go Xbox or PlayStation. I am currently playing threw Mario RPG too though
@@devast8r3436 To me it sounds like the Warrior is the better pick but I do want to reiterate, it’ll take some getting used to with the face buttons layout. Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk yeah it’s nice only reason I got it I’m not paying £60+ for a wave bird that could be dodgy and no rumble. Apparently you can use the battlerGC for your switch as well. I don’t have a switch I only have a GameCube but I intend to buy a switch 2 in the future.
Fair enough! It is an acquired taste and I do think it is a great controller as a companion solution, not one I'd feel comfortable having as the only one next to my PC. So yeah, totally get where you're coming from.
another third party GC controller that doesn't have the clicky triggers of the original controller. I'm a huge fan of Mario Sunshine and that game lives or dies by having those clicky triggers, it is a nightmare trying to play it with anything else. I've had to get one of those cheap knockoff controllers off Amazon, it's that huge of a pain to find a good controller for sunshine.
I think if the emulator does let you map that function separately than the throttle/brake, you could be able to use say L1 for it, I get it's not the same but at least it's a solution. And then, you map that L1 to a back paddle to better manage when Mario is moving while splurging water. With that said, original hardware, I can't think of a solution and I tried to see if I could map that value alone but it didn't work as I expected.
They make good stuff but I gotta say, that controller they made pushed them to great-er heights. Hopefully, they'll follow that stride as it's been fruitful for them. (and for us!)
@@ProfJermZ I would've said fair enough but the giveaway was officially won on Thursday and shipped to the state of Indiana on Friday. Sorry, but there will be more giveaways on the channel for sure! (one shortly hopefully 😉)
Ahahahha! Yeah, I've been hard at work about that lately. I wasn't even aware back then that I had this pronunciation problem, in other words, I didn't know don and dun sounds different in english (it's not my first language) but I know now and I'm working on it. Thanks!
Does the NYXI Warrior Controller allow me to remap the button scheme using the Nintendo Switch system?

So glad someone finally did a review on this controller! Ended up just ordering one, so excited!
I was excited to put this one out, glad you saw value in it! Cheers :)
Looks like I stumbled across a hidden gem of a channel! Awesome review! Can’t wait to receive my Warrior 🔥
Well thank you greatly! It's a great product from NYXI, let me know how you feel about it when you get it! :)

Saw ads for the controller a while ago and was on the fence, seeing this review has me leaning on buying one. Awesome review and glad I clicked on your video, definitely liking and subscribing
Glad I could help and thank you for believing in the future of the channel!
Will you be picking one up? If so, don't miss out on an extra 10% off, code in the description! If not, what would you have liked to see on this controller that makes you not interested?
Hey ! I am French and was looking for info about the latency of this product and finally found your video ! Many thanks !
Avec grand plaisir! Si tu as des questions, n'hesite pas! :)

You got good tastes, that's for sure!
Great video! Love that you went into detail on performance/latency.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
I absolutely enjoyed this video man!
I been praising my Nyxi Wizard controller for months only for it to be topped by this one. I've been eying it to since it's inception I would LOVE to get my own hopefully this holiday season.
Ahh thanks man, they’ve been running some pretty appealing promotions lately, wouldn’t be surprised if they pull all the stops for Cyber Monday!
This video is very helpful getting 1 of these pretty soon Every time when I look at a review video it doesn't really explain much of the controller This video explained a lot
Thank you greatly for the kind words!
Definitely looks like the best wireless GameCube controller by far!
Love this review! I have the Wizard which I do like, but honestly this looks even better.
Thank you very much! You could hold off if you're not in a rush but I do think down the road many people will appreciate it, it's the pinnacle of "GameCube Gamepad" we've ever seen to date. Thanks for engaging, greatly appreciated!

Great quality review!
This finished convincing me to get one, thanks!
Glad to be of assistance!
@@GameTechTalk I'd say black is my favorite looking color but can't go wrong with purple either!

Totally, good luck with the giveaway!

Thanks for the kind words, what color would you lean towards to if you don't mind me asking?
@@GameTechTalk Oh, definitely orange. I used to have an orange game cube controller back in the day, so it holds a soft spot for me. Although, I do think the purple controller looks pretty cool. So maybe I should think on it.

Great video! This controller looks amazing for emulation.
It really is!
Great Review. I own the Warrior Controller and it is really great as a Wavebird replacement. I can now have Wireless and Rumble on my GameCube.
@@GameTechTalkyeahh, now I'm really interested! I would probably get it in purple or orange since the wizard I already have it in black

It's good stuff
@@STR82DVD Well I just learned something today! I knew for Saturn but I did not know Dreamcast used hall effect sticks.

This controller looks so sick!
It does but not gonna lie, I’m excited to have the orange in my possession! What color would you go for?
I think it's a great controller, i wish they had a secondary dongle that didn't have the gamecube part on it.
I actually cut that part of the review cause I was trying to slim it down. What I originally said is I wish that the gamecube portion would have been retractable this way it doesn't stick out all the time. I totally agree with you, it's not a big deal per say but it is a little in the way all the time if you don't use it and I won't be.
I really want to buy one of these and I think I'm going to based on your review.
If you do, don't hesitate to let me know your impressions! :)

But there are 2 bad things:
-metal gear has this glitch thing going on that doesn’t happen with an original controller, because the newer controller has more travel distance the stick, the programmers left a mistake there, when you press up and right, the game doesn’t know what to do, and instead of running, the character walks, only happens pressing up and right, doesn’t happen with an original game cube controller, there is still the possibility of using the dpad to play.
Excellent review. Shame that you couldn't test it on Gamecube hardware, but, still a nice review.
Yeah! I'm one of those guys that sold my old hardware to buy the new one of that time. Something I regret now 😭 With that said, someone said in the comments it works perfectly on their GC and vibration even works though it is wireless. Cheers!

@@GameTechTalk 🤞 (🇨🇦, by the way 😀)
Too bad the give away isn't for Mexico as well, but it has given me the info I needed, i have a Gamecube and a brand new Switch, it will be a good investment for both
Unfortunately, the original plan was to expand my coverage but I found out recently that US and Canada have a recent law that prevents people from shipping anything with a lithium battery... I wonder if that law was introduced to dissuade consumers from buying from China, it's so dumb. Countries can ship to me, but I can't ship to them, so for warranty it's not good either. :/
Anywho, glad the video was helpful, cheers!
Wonder how this compares to the Retro Fighters BattlerGC Pro.
How do the triggers work with Super Mario Sunshine on 3D All-Stars? As well as racing games on Switch?
Cheers!
@GameTechTalk Grid Autosport supports analog triggers if you use a GameCube controller...didn't know a Dirt game was on Switch.
@@PaperBanjo64 That most likely is the game I meant to say, not much of a racing game kind of guy, you'll have to excuse me. 😅
With that said, you brought an interesting thought that I unfortunately am not equipped to confirm for you. But I would assume that if using the dongle on the GC adapter on the Switch, the triggers would most likely work analog on Grid Autosport.
(Edit) Using the dongle in USB-C does not count as a GC controller, that was a great question!
@GameTechTalk cool, the triggers on Sunshine work on an OG GameCube controller but they're really touchy and kinda broken.
Does the controller have snapback? I believe the Wizard did, curious if this has it as well.
@@king_eziel Great suggestion, thanks I've taken notes!
Looks like a great controller. Would also be cool for emulation on Steam Deck.
Totally. It’s a retro gaming beast and works perfectly fine on Steam Deck! Were you gaming during GameCube era?
@@GameTechTalk I started gaming in the 70s. I’m old. 😁
@@tappersreviews4677 Fun fact, I got an older brother born in the 70s that is a few years older and which made me grow beyond my time.
@@GameTechTalk aw, man!
did you also test bluetooth mode in terms of latency etc? would be great to know the difference between dongle and bluetooth mode.
Cheers!
Was Flydigi the first one to come up with the analogue-hair trigger switch?
Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk nice, I guess I'll just switch between both of them 👍🏼
Can I use the gyro of this controller while connected to the PC?
Cheers!
Tl;dr - NYXI (wired) > NYXI (dongle) > Other 125hz controllers (wired)

@@GameTechTalk Interesting analysis, which will have less latency, this warrior or the original cube control connected by the USB adapter?
@@tuxtv That is unfortunately something I cannot factually answer, I can only make logic assumptions which is that I'd put my money on the latency not being as good on the adapter if just for the fact that USB comes into play on top of legacy connectors. Adding a "middle element" causes extra latency, possibly very little but seeing how the Warrior capitalizes on newer technology, rather than just being pinnacle older one, I think that's 2-0 for the Warrior being potentially better than bringing back original hardware into modern era using external tools. Cheers!
How well does it work with emulators on Android?
Very well! Bluetooth has gotten a lot better in the recent iterations too so the latency is much much much better than it used to be. If wired is an option it is always best of course but gone be the days of having platforms and FPS unplayable due to latency. What emulator where you looking to play?
This review is very thorough. My GameCube controller that I use for smash ultimate broke recently, so I’m hoping to win this giveaway 🤞
Thanks and good luck!
So for mostly Switch play with some occasional PC, would you recommend this or the Apex 4?
Cheers!
Awesome thank you very much for your input
Sick controller
Just get the wireless battlerGC GameCube joypad it’s awesome I have two.
It’s been mentioned to me a few times on this video, I might pick one up. Thanks for the suggestion!
Great video. im new here and will be coming back for sure
Thanks and welcome abord!

Well thank you! Learning new tricks everyday 😊
Can I use this with xbox series x?
Out of the box with no special adapter, no it will not work.
Great review. I was waiting for someone to make a video bc the warrior seemed really cool, but idk, not really too keen on the GC layout
Fair enough! It is an acquired taste and I do think it is a great controller as a companion solution, not one I'd feel comfortable having as the only one next to my PC. So yeah, totally get where you're coming from.

Makes me want to play Smash Melee
Don’t even mention it, back when Fox was actually a good character 🥲 They never quite made him anywhere as good since.
controller fire
🔥🎮🔥
another third party GC controller that doesn't have the clicky triggers of the original controller.
Never even heard of this brand before!!! I'm very interested now
They make good stuff but I gotta say, that controller they made pushed them to great-er heights. Hopefully, they'll follow that stride as it's been fruitful for them. (and for us!)
@@GameTechTalk Now I'm looking to buy one, but I wanna see if it's possible I win this one first 🙃
@@ProfJermZ I would've said fair enough but the giveaway was officially won on Thursday and shipped to the state of Indiana on Friday. Sorry, but there will be more giveaways on the channel for sure! (one shortly hopefully 😉)
@@GameTechTalk fine! Twist my arm into buying one why don't ya 🤣

Thanks! I am from Montreal 😊
Bro can't not say dungle
Ahahahha! Yeah, I've been hard at work about that lately. I wasn't even aware back then that I had this pronunciation problem, in other words, I didn't know don and dun sounds different in english (it's not my first language) but I know now and I'm working on it. Thanks!
