    It's great to see a review on this curriculum. We have used it for 17 years, and never once felt the need to look for anything else. My daughter now uses it for her kids. I love how simple and just innocent and sweet it is while being a great rounded education. 👏

      Oh wow! That is wonderful to hear! We used it growing up as well, and I really enjoyed it as a kid. With all the new curriculum out there to look at and see, I forgot about it, but I am so glad to have rediscovered it, because we love it!
      Thank you for watching! 🥰❤

    Lovely review of this, I’m so tempted to change to this. We need spiral + mastery together. Thank you!!

    It almost seems like units 1-5 would cover more kinder concepts and 5-10 would be 1st grade. I’m currently using a different kinder curriculum for my twins and I don’t love it. I’m thinking of switching them to CLE since I like the mastery/spiral approach more than full spiral. Any thoughts on skills they should have mastered before starting unit 1?
    Thanks for doing a thorough review and walk through!

      It’s so gentle that just knowing the simple basics of counting and simple writing will be plenty! ❤️

    This was an amazing flip thru! I also just watched your grade 2 one as well, I was wanting this in depth look to see exactly which level my daughter fit into. It also looks like a great curriculum. Would you say it’s a spiral approach, but mastery at the same time? I’m looking for that in between. My daughter gets really bored with the mastery approach(we have tried math u see) and we have tried straight spiral but I feel on some topics that extra practice is needed. Thank you so much!

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  Год назад +3

      Yes! It’s both, but leans more towards spiral. I love that they learn new numbers and concepts but get a lot of practice each day. ❤️

      I have dyscalculia and graduated from high school. In 1991 and had IEP in place. Until I graduated. Even though I am 51 years old. It bothers me that I don’t understand. Math very well. This looks really good and very advanced. Your kids will be very strong math students. In high school and when they are adults. Thank you for the review.

    Hi there! I’m not sure if you mentioned... did you get the teachers guide? Thanks in advance!

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  2 года назад

      No I didn’t. When I get to the section that has story problems, I just make up my own. Works perfectly fine! 🥰

    How manipulative heavy is this curriculum? Would i need an abacus for example?

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  5 месяцев назад +1

      None at all! It’s just open and go. ❤️
      I added in real money/change to solidify counting money, and the kids will choose to use some fun counters occasionally, but there isn’t anything required.❤️

    You may have said this and I missed it...do you feel like you need the teachers guide? We're using MB level 1 for kindergarten this year but planning to move to CLE next year

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  2 года назад

      The main thing you need if for is the story problems, but I typically just make them up as we go, so I don’t use it. ❤️

      I have the Kindergarten 2 and the 1st grade reading program! The Kindergarten 2 is amazing, and my little girl really loves it! ❤
      We haven't started the Reading 1 yet since we're finishing up TGATB Language Arts, but it looks like it will be a great fit for our family! ❤

    How long does it take to complete each light unit?

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  6 месяцев назад +1

      With the first grade books there are 170 lessons. We take it slow and only average about 3-4 lessons per week so it takes us close to a month per unit. ❤️

  • @samanthagraveswalters8443

    Did you not get the teachers companion for Masterbooks bc it’s meant to be gentle and builds on itself through the years. Elementary years need to be gentle . The gentle approach isn’t technically weak like some view it. I think if people knew the why and how behind Masterbooks math they would stick it out. :). But I understand you’re the mom. Just sharing what no one shared with me ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @oursweetiebirdshome
      @oursweetiebirdshome  2 года назад +3

      Yes I did, and I 100% agree about being gentle with learning, especially in the precious little years. My little guy already knew how to read and write numbers, how to draw patterns, shapes, etc. So for us, we felt the grade 1 was repeating his Kinder year. He became really bored with it, so we made the switch and now he loves math! ❤❤❤

    Also level 1 math Masterbooks isn’t grade 1’. It’s more skilled based.
