My son did CLE Lang. Arts, Reading, and Math from 1st grade through 9th grade. I can not tell you what a solid foundation it has given him! It is such a wonderful program. I always giggle a little bit when people, like yourself, say they didn't consider it because of how it looked because how it looked was exactly why I considered it. My son was a very busy, busy boy. He didn't want or need a lot of "fluff". He wanted to do the lesson and then get on to the "fun" stuff - trucks, outside with the chickens and farm cats...So the very basic looking light units helped him stay focused and not get distracted.
@@SpinoZilla5656 - My son did Algebra 1 when he was in 7th grade and we used CLE for it. At the time, Algebra 1 was the only high school math that had been updated to Sunrise edition. So for Geometry and Algebra 2, he used Teaching Textbooks which we both really liked. He is currently using Teaching Textbooks for Pre-Calculus for his 10th grade math. As much as I love CLE, the teaching textbooks for the higher level math has been a huge blessing! There is a video demonstrating how to do every practice and test problem which has been a huge help, especially when he doesn't understand something. He can go watch the video for that problem and see step by step how to do it. If he still isn't understanding the problem, it will tell you what lesson that skill was taught and he can go back and watch the lesson.
I love CLE, too. We switched from Abeka. It is rigorous and yet super gentle. So a great change. It's a solid program that will educate your children and teach them independence. I love that the directions are written in the book. I like to do the teacher stuff , which is very minimal, but on the days that I can't, my kids can continue to work on their own.
You will not regret it! CLE is wonderful. It is visually very appealing but in a more minimal way that focuses on the quality of the content and not being visually overwhelming.
We came to Christian light education from the good and the beautiful preschool and k prep. I found that CLE Kinder program is very gentle. At least the first couple units.
We are new to homeschooling and I have twin 1st grade. ive been looking at the good and the beautiful but then I seen ur post about CLE. Do you like it better than TGTB?
Love the drills. My daughter has gotten so much better with her facts. I let her grade her own. We make down her time each time. I don’t stress the 2 mins time we just try to better our time.
My 2nd grader is currently finishing math and she has loved it. She switched from math u see alpha because she was so bored. The scheduled flash card practice combined with the daily drills and she has memorized her math facts. The variety of things she’s learned has been so much better than just addition and subtraction. My other daughter is using math 1 and I can see how this really prepares for 2nd grade math. My favorite has been their reading. I ended up ordering their 5th and 6th grade reading for my 11 and 12 year olds and they are learning about poetry and Greek and Latin roots Today English 1 arrived for my future 10th graders. This was my first year using CLE and I love it so much I want them to use their English 1 and 2 in 10th and 11th. I am blown away at how much the English l covers. It is definitely college prep!
I am so glad to hear this!! We are currently using Math U See Alpha and I am over it. I understand the importance of mastery but we have literally been only working on single digit addition and subtraction for a full year!!! I am ready for more of a spiral. I ended up ordering the last 5 light units of 1st grade and then the entire year of 2nd grade math. I know my daughter is not going to be happy about having to do a half a year of first again, but I would rather fill in the gaps now than have her be lost later!
For us, it did make the year a little longer. Like we went from August-June before finishing....but we also take a lot of breaks so I am not sure if that made a difference
I thought it makes for a shorter year because most subjects have only 160 lessons total which is only 160 days if you do it every day. Most public schools do at least 175-180 days ayear.

Do you still use it or did you switch for 10th? If so what did you switch to

We fell in love with CLE this year and are slowly switching all our core subjects over!!
Us too!!! Every year it seems we add another subject lol

😍😍 Wonderful... TY for sharing.. have wondered how all of your homeschooling adventures have gone.. so thank you for sharing....
We love CLE math and Language arts! We are on our 3rd year with it! My upcoming 1st/2nd
grader begged me not to switch it ! He truly LOVES it!

I’m really excited to switch to this for math!!! The drills really stood out to me

So from the preschool 4 pack, would you move straight into the learning to read course?
I am looking forward to switching for first grade for my son. I was looking at the 1st grade curriculum, is science and social studies necessary?
We personally chose to go with an online science/social studies so I could give myself a break to work with my other kiddos❤
I know you mention you send your kids to an actual VPK school but what if I wanted to start VPK at home which curriculums would you recommend?
We like Horizons PreSchool and BookShark PreK!!
So every grade subject has 10 workbooks total except for 1st grade with 15 total. How does the pacing work? Does it make it a longer school year?

@@Heavenlyhomeschoolthat's interesting because we started later and finished earlier then the schools around my house.
