    You know the beauty of not working in corrections anymore ? No more responsibility for adults that don't wanna be responsible for themselves. So I no longer have to worry about catching a charge, every time I find an inmate hanging or bleeding out .

    I understand that alot of people either respect or don't respect correctional officers. I have an agility test this friday so my opinion may be a bit biased but I think CO's from where I'm from are pretty good guys. Sure there's bad ones also, but think about it. There's good people and bad people doesn't mean you have to hate them all and let one spoil the whole batch. If it weren't for these CO's (The good ones) then the murderers and such would be out today still doing so. Mad respect to CO's

My father's a lawyer and he was the one who inspired me to get in to Law Enforcement. There's nothing i wanna do more than to be a correction officer i just need the opportunity !

      Melanin Chic it’s definitely not that no one could get a job other than a Corrections Officer. You need at the very least a Bachelors Degree to apply. It’s a thankless job. No one wants to do it. The Police are tasked with the arrest and that’s all they do. A CO is tasked with keeping not only the public safe, but themselves and the inmates as a whole.

    I did this shit for almost 3 years. I can make more money working at lowes , than working as a correctional officer . I'll keep my state jailers license incase of emergency , but I will take every step I can to make sure I never have to go back through the system. I wouldn't recommend this "career" to anyone.

    I give Negron all my respect. Most people think just because you have a degree you shouldnt lower yourself and take a job not paying the maximum you can get. Well this woman shows that she realizes that doing what she intuitively feels she would be good at is much more important. Plus she is a classy, beautiful woman also. I wisah her the best of luck. We need more "civil servants" like her instead of the majority who sit slumped behind their desk acting like they are doing YOU a favor. Bravo!

    • @Hammer28ca
      @Hammer28ca 10 лет назад +3

      Well I will assume State Corrections are sentenced and city Corrections are mostly remand, waiting to go to court. Thats how it works here in Canada, But we also have Provincial and Federal prisons. Provincial is 2 years less a day and federal is 2 years and up. Provincial prisons will also hold people for remand.

    Mr Retired,
    I just watched the entire 2 seasons of the series called "Lockdown" shown on Netflix, and it seemed that in every prison and jail, all the CO's were respectful and polite, and did every single thing exactly by the book. Yet I am told that corruption is rampant in prisons. I understand some officers act sweet for the TV cameras, but none of the cons complained .I always thought that this occupation would attract those who need to bully others. Didn't see it at all. Very suspicious!

    Amen. God Bless the non corrupt ones who put it on the line every day. And since most don't even earn what a regular cop would make, they are true heroes. I would pray that any inmate trying to kill a prison guard for no reason would automatically get life without parole and be shackled permanently. No second chance against our finest heroes! It is the only sane way to protect these guys fully. Anyone disagree?

  • @MarcV8888
    @MarcV8888 12 лет назад +1

    To be honest, we have gone backwards in our prisons as far as protecting both guards and prisoners. No one is ever blamed. No one is ever held responsible. How about all personnell in every prison from the warden to the lowest guard have to take a polygraph test 4x a year. Yuh think maybe they would think twice about bringing in contraband for prisoners, yuh think a lazy warden who sits on his fat ass all day might do some work. Im curious...what exactly does a warden do all damn day anyway?

    Its amazing as I listen to the different views on this and other similar threads, how in some prisons, the guards are part of the problem,feel no compassion for guys getting extorted or raped, and in other prison videos, you got like 100 prisoners and 2 guards because somebody quit or called in and these guys get assaualted many times in their time as a CO. Why is this a problem? Tell you why....the good co's wont rat out the bad ones as they should, and the good prisoners are not protected.

    What you really have to look forward to is as time goes by while you work in corrections,you slowly become seperated from society,you find that the only people that can stand you is your fellow officers and thats because they have to.Then comes the first divorce and your kids just going through the motions when they see you. Hey,but at least you get a paycheck!

    • @carlosk.garcia7691
      @carlosk.garcia7691 3 года назад

      My godsons' uncle told me that if you work 20 years , you personally have served 8 years because of the time spent locked in , of course you become separated from society, constant association brings along assimilation, plus the inmates know that you're going home at the end of your shift, barring some unforseen circumstances, and that the facility is for all intents and purpose, their house.
