I have had numerous people go through my cart at the bins. I even cover mine with rugs or small blankets. It happens a lot with older people, like 60's,70's+, they tend to be the rudest most aggressive people at the bins in my area,Florida. Well them and the vintage kids.

After all these years I finally made it to the Dallas bins! I had so much fun. I was on a major high for the next two days. I can't wait to go back (after I get these 70 lbs listed, lol). Price was $1.69 per pound. They also require carts to be parked against the wall. Oh my gosh, why did I wait so long!!!

I live in Michigan. The couple of bins that I go to are like yours, you must keep your cart against the wall for the most part. Most people find a sheet or blanket and cover their cart. I have been to other bins in Ohio and Indiana where you can just push your cart along with you. So I guess it just depends on your bins store.
Yes, I think you are right. When I went to other bins, I could take my cart around with me, but those bins were huge and mine is kind of small. I have started putting a sheet over since the stealing started. Oh well, its all worth it! Thanks Q
I love large scarves to keep warm on flights or conferences. So easy to throw across shoulders and remove during temp changes and it can fit in tiny space.

Those fabric panels were huge in the late 70s and 80s. They were available in a bazillion images. I still have some Christmas characters that I made, as well as a pig. Some were popular cartoon characters, like Strawberry Shortcake. I understand they sell for a decent profit.

It is so nice that you have friends at the bins! My local (not GW) bins are quite competitve and ppl are just not very nice. Of course there are cool and kind fellow shoppers too, I just met with a super cute reseller who gave me a few great advice. But sadly the majority is aggresive and they also try to steal sometimes from carts/piles etc. Since the management is not very strict about following the rules or anything, it is chaotic in general. I always try to be friendly, nice and respectful and I am probably very naive sometimes 😅 After someone took a nice purse from my pile and someone else started to touch/look my own purse sitting in my cart - I realized I have to be cautios, watch my things and cover my cart. 😮😢

Our bins in Denver carts stay on the walls. It’s great that way so people can move around better and people don’t block the bin with the cart. Many people bring their own wagons so you know it’s their personal stuff. 😊

Thanks for the discount code! Definitely need to get ready for fall/winter and have larger polymailers for the jackets, etc. I am a bins newbie and have only been a couple of times (I am in Austin, TX). I am fortunate to have really good inventory sources in other spots, including consignment clients. Thrift store prices here are mostly crazy, but I can sometimes find deals. That being said, I would like to work up the mental grit and stamina for the bins, especially when yard sale season is slow. From what I can tell, carts aren't forbidden in the rows but it's difficult to navigate them with the crowds and I think it irks the regulars. I find a rolling bag works well. It holds a lot, but isn't too intrusive next to me while digging. I am so nervous to get my cart pilfered! I see all the seasoned bin-goers have their carts against the wall with blankets over them, but what's to stop someone from ignoring that? I mean, if they are stealing from others' carts, I don't see how a blanket is gonna stop em. The treasures to be found seem to be worth the battle, so I am just gonna have overcome my anxiety about all bins related things :)
Thank you for this great comment! I hear you about the bins. Honestly, It is not for everyone. If you can tolerate it, it's the best thing going in terms of keeping your cost of good per item down. I have two bins stores about 20 minutes away (in opposite directions); one lets you bring your cart out and the other makes you leave them on the side, but both have signs all over the place that you are not allowed to take anything out of any carts, and if people are caught taking things from the carts they will be asked to leave the store.

I go to the LA bins and another SoCal bins in Long Beach. You can’t really have your cart with you at either location. In LA most folks covers their carts with a sheet or blanket. In Long Beach it’s not as large and not as many people but there’s just no space to walk around with your cart. It’s common for them to be along the perimeter.

Yes, here in the Dallas/ Fort Worth bins, people will take your things if you aren’t guarding it. I started carrying a large zip bag with me. When it gets too heavy, then I put it in my cart. I also shop with my husband and we teamwork watching our carts to be sure no one takes our things.

Thanks for the tip on checking out linens. I picked up a beautiful vintage Ralph Lauren king size Duvet for only $5.49 at my local goodwill… unfortunately I haven’t hit a bins store yet because the closest ones I’ve heard horror stories about. South Florida is brutal. I’m planning on taking a trip and going more north to one that hopefully isn’t as bad.

I’m in TN and have had my cart taken from here several times. You’re allowed to have it with you but it’s almost impossible to maneuver through people. The last time someone looted my cart, it was a handmade embroidered one of a kind quilt that had been on the bottom for 3+ hours….so they had been watching me that long. I looked away for maybe 3-4 mins and they went straight to the bottom and pulled it out. I even had a sheet over the top and a pile of shoes on top of the quilt. It has taken me a long time to get over it. From now on when I find something that special, I’m going to go ahead and check out and take it to my car, then come back. We must be in the same location. My cart was taken last week. Staff said they can look in cameras..but doesn't change that they don't have good rules jn place people just do it again

My bins are huge, they probably rotate every 30 minutes like yours, but they have one side for hard goods, shoes, purses, and another side for clothing and linens. They go back and forth with the rotations. So it probably is faster.
I just found an Etro silk poncho, some Frye boots, 2 pairs of Haflinger wool clogs, and 3 Johnny Was pieces! It was a good day!
Our Bins doesnt allow carts in the aisles anymore, only against the walls. I cover mine with a sheet always. The staff is pretty strict, and I think if someone was caught stealing from another person’s cart, they would get kicked out.
Love your hauls. #Jiaro. At bins I go to you can keep the carts with you if you’re one of the first 10 there. People get them and stay there all day. Even bring their lunch.
I like the idea of keeping my cart with me, but not allowed at my bins. I am now covering my cart with a blanket. I was there yesterday and more people said others were stealing out of carts. So sad.
